Is there a way i can have the keyboard light always on the minute i access the keyboard? currently it's running on the light sensor which turn the keyboard light on and off depending on the brightness of the area. I would like to keep it on...anyway to do that?

Yup....i'm using the Z as a spare phone and would also like to have this option. Seems like it's not something doable

I use Tesla LED. Works great, has a widget and few different modes.

I use Brightest Flashlight. From the market. Lets u use either the front screen or flash as light. And even has a cool little startup and shutdown sound.

Flashlight
I just use the basic Flashlight app, its plain and simple and gets the job done.....and it was the first one that came up when i was looking
Tesla LED is as basic as it gets and works perfectly. I use that.
Tiny Flashlight + LED from the market.
Nexus Torch anyone? The strobe feature is awesome if you need to thwart an attacker or host a rave, or both at the same time.

Using the same here as well and like it. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to have it stay lit once the screen is off, and I'm not referring to the screen staying lit I'm referring to the camera LED....hmmmm.
TeslaLED is definitely the best. Compare the permissions it needs versus every other flashlight app on the market.
Another vote for Tesla LED.
The widget I put on my home screen times out after one minute just in case I activate it accidentally.

No one else is reporting this, so it does not seem like a ROM bug.
I'm using AOKP build 35. For some reason the touch buttons do not light up ever. On CM7 they would only light up on low light conditions, but on this they just stay off.
Any suggestions for a possible solution other then re-flashing?
Mine don't light up but its not such a big deal for me...why?
1) I know where they are and what they do
2) it's an unofficial build, so there's bound to be issues
3) doesn't interfere with anything else
I figured they were turned off due to the nav bar.

Personally, I want a way to permanently turn them off and disable their functions. >_>
-the ultimate black dragon-
I would use the nav bar instead, but I don't like that it takes my screen space.
I guess its not that bad since I already know where each button is. I just liked it better with the lights.

I've been hearing so much about them but I installed them and they don't seem to do anything. I hear everyone talking about it.... could someone tell me what it does for OUR device?

BLN stands for Backlight Notifications, when you get a notification your LED lights on the front of your phone (i.e. menu, home, back, and search buttons) light up. As for "light flow light," idk..

...as long as the kernel youre running supports it
"Light flow" changes the color of your led light, it doesn't work on the sgs2 since we don't have an led.
If you have BLN Pro you can make your backlights blink whenever you have a text message or notification.

Light flow gives you the ability to have bln for all apps. It will not change the color but it will enable bln for whatever you have set in light flow. For example, stock messaging

lol thanks for asking, i was searching for what BLN mean.
Preface: I've asked about how to disable capacitive backlights on stock TW ROMs, and now I independently found half of the answer.
By looking inside EpicParts.apk from CM-based ROMs, I obtained the position of soft key "device": /sys/devices/virtual/sec/t_key , and by modding the file "brightness" under it, capacitive key backlight turn off.
However, on TW ROMs this never persists no matter how I set the permission / owner, while on Incredible S, after modding I can mod the permission to r--r----- to prevent system from reverting this setting.
Plus, on pre-CM10 era ROMs, "Epic 4G Settings" is there but even if I disable the backlight, it always light on for a wee second every time I unlock, which is pretty annoying as I use onscreen keys heavily.
Digging further into CM10's EpicParts (which can totally turn backlight off, regardless of unlock), it seems that it creates two files under the folder, "touchleds_disable" and "touchleds_voltage", but I don't know how this behaves, nor can I imitate the behaviour.
So... it'll be appreciated if anyone can explain to me how EpicParts (of JB) works and how I can reproduce its effects. Thanks all

I don't really have an answer to your question but I have a question for you lol. What you did disabled the lights completely? Like even the little flash they give when they are pressed on? They're just completely off?

Yes, that's the effect I'm looking for, and by now only CM10 and PA 2.5+ can do that; however, if I choose to disable them completely, the "Recent Apps" view will automatically pop up randomly, and I dunno why

No.
but you can use app like "NoLed" from play, featuring a little notification icon on the screen, don't worry, it won't drain the battery, that's the advantage of amoled screen.
but the app still a little buggy.
I am also missing the notification LED. But probably could utilize the touch buttons. Any app to recommend?
Mine also doesn't has these notification features.Feel bad why samsung did this. Also my smart screen doesn't work.

Seems like that needs to be supported by a custom kernel. So we got to be patient it seems...I never gonna understand why Samsung isn't using the ****ing background light of the buttons for notifications (on devices w/o a dedicated LED)...I used that solution flawless on my aging S1 for 2 1/2 years now.
Is the issue kernel support, or is there truly no LED for notifications? There's two things to the right of the speaker, but maybe those are proximity sensors or something....
