WP7 + HTC Trophy 7 - sound&theme - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi all,
Just got my HTC Trophy 7 yesterday, and dig WP7 so far!
Just a few questions:
Is it possible to change the message colour? Would like to seperate between to and from.
Is it possible to remove that tiny vibrate that comes when you press the "back" key on the phone? I have disabled vibrate within the sound-setting, but that didnt do it.

No and No to both your questions

Interesting. Is the "vibrate" thing, when pressing the back button, Trophy specific? Because, my DVP doesn't do this.

My Samsung Focus vibrates when you push any of the bottom buttons.

press side volume button will silence the ring?

Just now I received one incoming call,i pressed side volume button, the phone was silenced, I tried again,no matter up volume button or down button, the ring will be silenced.
Is this the normal feature of HTC Touch Pro2? or is the bug of the rom I am using? or there is any setting that can change this behavior?
pls kindly test with your phone, help me with this issue.

I don't think it's a bug, and it's a feature of the tp2. I've used that feature all the time, and it works the same in all the roms I've tried. If you don't want the ring silenced, don't press the side volume button....though I have hit it by mistake when pulling my phone out from time to time....but by this time, you already know you have a call, so no big deal.

thanks for reply,I am relieved.
Aye. normal feature. Its even part of the stock rom. Its easier if you want to silence your phone rather than trying to fumble around on the touch screen if you need to silence it quickly.

Got a new thinking when came back to look at this post, this HTC phone....press volume key to mute incoming call (ringer) is good feature for people, but maybe some people dont like it,they want the phone to ring for a while and let people around him know that he got a good ringtone or he got busy. if the ring stops by accidentally pressing the volume key,he will be pissed off.
Joke is joke, but will be nice if there is option to disable this press-volume-key-to-mute-incoming-call thing.

[Q] Mute ring not functioning ??!!!

Hello everybody...
When I tap the "mute ring" button during incoming call, it simply not works. Animation showing that screen "recognised" the tap, but it is not doing its function. The Ring call is still "on"...
I am googling for a couple of days and can't find any solution....
Anyone?
Any idea is a great help...
Thanks
46 views and nobody has an idea or my case is unique?
OK...I will extend the problem description....
I tried to "bypass" the problem by installing some apps which work on their own.
For example, Phone Ex 2.2 when I tap the "mute ring" button it does the command "Answer" wtf????
There was another app which I can't remember the name and which is originally designed to program all the hardware buttons as per user's taste, but the application didn't have any "mute ring" option.
So...I think I can not resolve the problem by installing another application, so I beleive there is somebody on this forum that can help me in a different way....
To mute the ringer you can push the down volume key, this is what i do and it always works. This is actually a shortcut button for most phones if i'm not mistaken

Well it WAS on previous models of HTC and blackberry, but it is not the case by default on my device.
I have the same problem with my Touch2 and when this happened, my call (hard) key also not functioning. I have to do a soft reset and it came back to work again. I guess u have to soft reset your phone every couple of days so that it cleared out waste memory which effected this function.
After i soft reset mine, it works again but after using for awhile it will have the same problem. Dont know how to permenently fix

[Q] Most annoying bug

I bought an HD7 on the 21st October and I really like it. There is only one bug that I've run into.
Basically sometimes I can't open Marketplace (but once it was Xbox Live and this morning it was Music & Videos). The screen says loading and those dots are moving. And then I just get dumped back into the start screen.
The only way I can get back into those hubs is by restarting the phone.
What is your most annoying bug thus far?
On Omnia 7, accidently tapping on the back and search capacitive buttons. I hate capacitive buttons, wish these both buttons were like the home button.

Thats not a bug, thats a feature. I also dislike capactive buttons. I liked the real aluminium buttons on my HTC Desire. My HTC HD7 only has capactive buttons.
So anyone else. Annoying bugs in Windows Phone OS?
this particular thing isn't just to windows phone OS though, if you really want physical buttons, the LG Optimus 7 has them. A lot of HTC/Samsung phones have moved to capactive buttons.

known issue, i'm pretty sure MS knows about it, hopefully they'll fix it soon.
Indeed, and I have another bug with the Marketplace:
Sometimes when I am in the marketplace menu and when I press the back button I just have a black screen.
Actually it happens quite often.

[Q] Buttons Don't Work While Phone Is Asleep?

When my phone is locked (screen turned off), the volume rocker and camera buttons don't work. With my Samsung Focus, I could use both while the screen was completely locked. Is anyone else experiencing this?
For camera button, there is a setting (in Settings->Camera) to turn it on or off while sleep/locked.
My camera button doesn't wake the phone if I force sleep while in an app, such as the xda app. If I force sleep from the home screen, I'm alright. If I leave the app in the background, it works OK. However, like some others have stated, in order for the camera to wake the phone, you have to make sure you're not spending time on the intermediate position of the button, it has to be pressed all the way down quickly. If you take too long to do it, the camera will not wake the phone.
At least, this is how it is behaving for me.
Setting's correctly set, and I have been pushing it down all the way and holding it... Sometimes it does work, but there doesn't seem to be a pattern. Maybe my device is defective.
Anyone able to adjust the volume settings with the screen off?
Same with my camera button. After update, it's about 85% accurate. Before, it was 25%.
Volume does not work when off.
PS: Samsung Focus 1st gen doesn't allow Volume when screen is off, unless you applied some hack or custom ROM that did that. I just turned mine back on and tested to be sure.
I think what you remember is that when the Lock Screen was active, you could use the Volume Rockers, and that still works on the Lumia.
Huh, maybe I was just remembering wrong...I'll have to test it when I get home tonight...
Hi,
I can confirm operations as described above. With the phone locked, the volume rockers do nothing. You have to press the standby/lock button in order to get the screen to come on, and then you can use the volume rockers.
I have not tested this with my HTC HD7 on TMO, but will and get back to you.
As far as the camera button waking up a locked Lumia 900, you have to press and hold the camera button for a second and then press it again in order to get the camera app to load if the screen is locked. This won't work if the option under "Settings --> Applications --> pictures+camera--> Press and hold camera button to wake up the phone" is set to off.
Again, it isn't a simple tap, you have to hold it down for a second, and then press it again a second time for another second or two and the camera will turn on.
You'll see a little pad lock in the lower left if you have the phone horizontal and in the upper left if you have it vertical.
I don't know if this is how all the Lumias work, but it is how I can get the camera app to work when the phone is locked.
TB
This, among other detrimental things, have just started happening on my 900 today. It worked fine for the last 5 weeks & now it's become pretty much ****. Would rather trade it in for a Titan II than do an unreliable hard reset.

While locked and screen off my volume rocker and camera buttons do work, same as my HD7.

Same here (except the HD7 part, of course). I do find I have to press the volume rocker once, then hold it down in order to change volume, which strikes me as being by design to avoid accidental presses.
Concur with lowlymarine... 2nd press needed on the lumia 900. 2nd press not needed the HD7... slight nusiance, like a dialog box popping up asking 'are you sure?'

[Q] OneX gripes/queries (Vodagroan UK)

Just a few gripes and anomalies I have found with the OneX
MOST of these are "problems" I feel, with a couple (3 & 6) being "wants".
Wonder if anyone else has had similar problems??
1) Start tone/Close tone. HTC always have a start-up tone, and close-down tone. The "HTC Signature" tone, if you like. My handset plays NO start-up or close-down tone. My handset is Vodagroan branded, if that makes a difference? Something Vodafone have done (wrong) by removing the tone??
2) "Auto screen brightness", becomes DISABLED after a reboot of the phone. It SHOULD (of course) remain enabled.
3) The “continuous spin” of the home screens (where one could just keep flipping horizontally, as on the DesireHD with Gingerbread)) has been disabled? (is this correct) One may only now go as far as the last screen, then back in the opposite direction.
4) Screen capture (Power+Home key). Previous HTC Devices (where screen dump possible), one would press the key sequence, and hear a “camera click” sound when the screen image was captured. There is NO screen capture sound on the OneX (having said that, I am SURE it did happen ONCE the other day!!). Is this correct, that there is no indication sound now?
5) After a reboot of the device (the ONLY time I re-boot is when there is a problem!), I have found that the NAMES of SOME of the icons on my HOME screens disappear. The icons on the application list remain with their names (as they should), but some of the icons on my HOME SCREENS disappear (see attached screen dumps). To get the names back, one has to DUMP the icons (from the Home screen) and then re-add to the Home screen.
6) Video. When one starts to video, there is a lag of a couple of seconds before recording starts. It isn’t instant, as it was with previous HTC models when video recording. There is no timer shown either, when one if videoing. Again, this WAS a “feature” of previous HTC’s
7) When one puts the phone on charge, or indeed takes the phone OFF charge, previous models would illuminate the screen (come off sleep mode). When one plugs/unplugs the OneX, the screen remains black. Is this correct?
There ya go.. Anyone else have these problems?
Cheers

Yes, Thanks "HTC Whore". Is that how you managed to get to 134 posts??
As far as I am concerned, all but 2 of the items I have listed are relevant. I am asking if anyone else has had similar problems (as you MAY be able to read).
The question may be "trivial" to you, but "Hey", we all need to ask questions sometimes (with the exception of some people no doubt?!).
Thanks for your contribution anyhow, on "congratulations" in getting yourself another post number....
Forgive me. I will try and answer your questions, as my device is running pretty sweet.

And the 'carousel' has now been disabled
My screen also stays off once I unplug it from the mains - doesn't bother me tbh

One is ICS screenshot, the other Sense screenshot. Think they're saved in different file locations.
Regarding the carousel, that's a Sense 4 thing, although I think some devs/chefs are working on bringing it back on Sense 4.

Oh and continious spinning is indeed disabled, and my unbranded X has a startup tone, although it's not the same one as the older Desire models.

In regards to illumination and the charger, my phone works the same as yours, only the LED changes.
And video lag is the same here, the screen goes black and a white camcorder symbol appears. Only for a second or so.
Is that redemption I smell?

Hi EddyOS. Fancy seeing you here
Power+Home DOES (with mine) take the screen-shot, but there is no sound with this. Prev models had an associated "click" so one knew when it had been captured. Just a small thing, but thought there may have been a problem. Or are you suggesting Power+VolDown invokes the click? Just tried with mine, and Power+VolDown simply turns the volume down..
Okay on the Carousel, Thanks for the confirm.
Again, the screen remaining off when one plugs in, unplugs, was another query as to whether the screen SHOULD in fact illuminate, as previous and most handsets do. Doesn't WHOLLY bother me, but again a niggle, in case something was awry.
Cheers

Okay on the video lag. I wouldn't say my screen "goes black and white", but upon pressing the video button it just has that lag of a second or so. Coming from my DHD, where the video button was selected, which simply put the camera into "video mode" standby. Pressing the button again, would instantly start recording (with a timer I hasten to add!).
With the OneX, as you are aware, once the video button is selected it immediately (with that second or so pause) starts recording.
Cheers again for verification of this.

One of you mentioned the change in the "start-up tone", and the fact you had an UNBRANDED unit....
I think the fact that you have an UNBRANDED unit makes a little difference here. Initially I was informed (by HTC) that the tone had been removed. Period.
I was then later informed by another HTC agent that their stock unit (vanilla) had the start tone, and he "suggested" that Voda branded handsets may have (inadvertently) lost the tone on the Voda software. Seems you have just confirmed this.
NB/ Whilst this isn't a BIG issue, it's from its absence that it seems there may be "something wrong". At least when there is a start tone, one knows when the phone is "ready to run", audibly..
Cheers
