Other than reflashing the rom maybe wrong version of cwm I looked at his thread I don't see if ext4 or rfs or what version of cwm should be used.
It could be a number of things, 1 image isn't right, or an apk is missing.

i thought the latest cwm could install either type of rom

It can but you have to run scripts to convert your file system from ext4 to rfs or rfs to ext 4 for what the rom supports.

Once I have converted over to EXT4, can I flash any EXT4 friendly ROM directly? What CWM version do I need to use to flash it?
Sent from my Epic 4G using XDA App
Yes, you can flash any ext4 compatible rom.
If it has been updated to use an edify script, then it is compatible with 2.5.1.2 and 3.0.0.whatever.
If it still uses an old amend script, then it is only compatible with 2.5.1.2.
Yes, once you convert to ext4 that stays intact until you odin.
Thank you for your help

Sorry, even newer it seems.
Sorry guys, I'm even newer than airbag84 at this. By flashing you guys mean to put the zip file on the root of the sd-card, and run the .zip file from recovery mode, using either version of CWM? I'm already on a ext4 rom, no more final kernel or clearing data, etc, etc?
Yes flashing = installing zip in recovery mode.
When going from ROM to ROM, its a good idea to do a full wipe. However, unless you brick your phone and re-Odin, you will not need to worry about running one click ext4 again, just wipe and flash just like you would any other ROM.
Hope that answered your question.

Both. Wipe data, cache partition, and dalvik cache (under "advanced" in clockworkmod" 3 times to be safe. The reason for this is to ensure your not mixing files from two different roms, which could cause a ton of problems.
And don't sweat it, I was new at one point too. Hell, I am still learning lol.
Here's what I've done:
1. Flash this with Odin
2. Allow it to load, power off and boot into clockwork, wipe dalvik and cache 3x. Flash plus kernel.
3. Reboot, power off and boot into clockwork. Wipe dalvik and cache 3x again and flash RFS2EXT4.
I've redownloaded everything so I'm positive that it's not a corrupt download. Also I've tried both the old and new version of the RFS2EXT4 zip. What's causing it to freeze at the Samsung logo and how can I properly get my Epic on EG22 with the plus kernel and EXT4?
I hear there's issues with a timestamp bug...
Iviv73 said on his EG22 rom install to follow these steps when flashing:
Correct way of flashing this rom:
1 Do 3 Wipes
2 Flash this rom
3 Do a Nandroid backup (Don't ask why but this step is important or you will get stuck on Samsung logo,it has something to do with timestamp bug). WITHOUT THIS STEP YOU WILL GET STUCK AT SAMSUNG LOGO
4 Flash this http://chris41g.devphone.org/RFS2EXT4.zip ACS RFS2Ext4(this will convert it to Ext4)
5 Flash this http://chris41g.devphone.org/EG22PlusKernel.zip ACS Ext4 Kernel(i included this kernel in this rom but for some reason you need to flash it again)
6 Reboot,and you done!

Try re-flashing but doing the nandroid backup before flashing the RFS2EXT4 and PlusKernel stuff.
I'll give this a shot, thanks a bunch

as mhrsolanki2020 said ... When flashing rom, always boot it, and after reboot flash any changes that you want, like data/link2sd,gapps,gps fixes and so on ...
never flash few things in one step.
also clean cache and dalvik every time you flash new rom ..
I don't think he wiped data or cache.
You can flash cm7 and gapps at the same time with no issues.
I prefer doing it like this rather than multiple restarts and then I setup my accounts on first boot its never given me any problems.
Try again make sure in clockwork mod recovery you:
wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Then goto advance and wipe dalvik
Then flash cm7
Then flash gapps
Restart and all should be fine.
Good luck.
so are those the steps i need?
and can u give me a link of the gapps i am supposed to use please?

here you go mate ht tp://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
can you give me the steps i need to fix the black screen please?
Boot into recovery clockwork mod and do what I said above and you'll be fine.
so once i flash cyanogen i do not reboot first, but i directly flash the gapps as well?
Yes that's how I been doin it for many months
Make sure to wipe the data that I said in previous post or it wont boot.
Its an important step when flashing a rom.
Like the problems that previously occurred.
sorry for so many questions but,
is it either wipe data or factory reset or both?
"wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Then goto advance and wipe dalvik
Then flash cm7
Then flash gapps"
'Data/factory reset' is the same thing
Then 'wipe cache partition'
Then in advance right at the bottom of clockwork mod 'wipe dalvik'
Once done click back then chose install zip from SD
Choose your rom file then confirm.
Then when finished click back.
Then install zip from SD select gapps file and confirm.
Once finished click reboot system.
Done.
will this work for sure? or will it give me the black screen again?
If you do everything I said in the same order it should definitely work my friend.
Is your mobile a GSM or cdma? Does it use a sim card?
Thank you so very much!!!!
No problem.
I'm guessing your up and running And hopefully very happy.
Good luck and all the best.
You're a life saver!!!

since im new to xda i can not post on the main thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442977&page=12
so i had to create this one as a question, cause i have a problem installing this rom, i downloaded both the kernel and the rom from the main thread, i first flashed to stock rom with odin, then i followed every step to install the kernel and after the rom, but im stuck in boot loop and im kinda angry cause it seems like im the only one with that problem.
i tried to install the rom using white's 1.33 kernel instead of percy's kernel ( the one provided in the main thread) and then flashing the rom, and it kinda worked, because i didnt go in to boot loop, but neither wifi or bluetooth werent working.
pls help me!!! i really want to try this rom!
1.first flash stock ddlk2
2.download the rom and flash it after :

Do this.
1. Go to cwm recovery

4. Go to mount & storage :- format system, data & cache.. dont format sd.
5. Then mount everything expect sd-ext.
6. Flash kernel.
7. Go to advance reboot recovery.
8. Again wipe data & cache.

This time you dont need to format system, data, or cache in mount.
