I was wondering if there was a way, and how to, edit the default app icons, so when opening up the app list or placing one on the home screen, the icon is one other than the original?
Thanks
You would have to change the icon in each apk file.

What rom are you using? Because cm6.1 and 7 nightlies you can pick any picture you want on your desktop only. I think there are some launchers that will let you pick also.

redemptive, but i have launchepro, so I know I can use the feature on that. But what I mean is: I have really nice icons i found, and I use SiMi folder widget. I can't edit the icons in the widget, those are the default ones in the apk. However, i tried editing the apk itself, but it disappeared when i rebooted, which seems to happen a lot.
Did you sign the apk after you got done editing it? Any third party apks will need to be resigned, any stock apks do not.

Last time i tried this using apk manager, it still wouldnt work, but i can give it another shot.
I get to signing it, but from there i try to install and it says "application not installed"
Do I need to uninstall the original apk first or something?

If you use adw or lp, you can do that by long pressing the icon and selecting a custom one. If not, you'll have to theme them

FINALLY I figured out apk manager for image editing!!!
Now my apps dont disappear on reboot and my widgetlocker is sexy again!
Thanks guys
How did you do it? Does it have to be signed?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Download apk manager from the forums...then when you use it on the apk, just extract it, don't decompile it, then drop in your image and zip it as a regular apk, don't recompile, and then sign it...that's it

here is the .apk for the semi-transparent weather widget. It's made to match the digital clock. i been using this with the stock rooted ics rom. i would show a screenshot but the i'm having trouble capturing a screenshot on a stock rom. amazing how i took that feature for granted when i had the option available in the advanced power menu in other roms.
just make sure to set the permissions to rw-,r--,r--
Almost forgot... this might go without saying for some.. but this gotta be pushed using root explorer. Don't try to install normally
my first ever custom apk... hope it works out for all
Would you happen to have the calendar version in semi-transparent ?

what i did was use root uninstaller app to remove the older one. there are 2 accuweather apps remove the one that is bigger in size. then use root explorer to drop the app in the system/app folder. reboot your phone and the app should be installed perfectly.
now simply add the new widget.:good:

Here you go its a zip of RazrHD keys and white glow all customizable via rom navi settings. It has the glow but jus disable via rom. Or pull out before making zip. I have only tested zip via Zip Themer app. You can do it manually if u choose.
Jus in case ur not familiar with app.
Download/open app)settings/update edify to current rom zip)theme/choose soft key zip)build/always make undo...enjoi use at own risk. but have tested with this method on all vanir roms and many others and ALWAYS works.

Yup ... Def takes care of thing like this and is very easy to use wit aligning zips.
Go to play store and type in zip themer and follow directions from link post and you'll be 100. Sorry for confusion. U could also do it manually by extracting PNG files. But I def like using the app.

thanks and sorry for being a noob
OK
1) open app/ hit 3dot/settings
2)update edify
3)hit browse
4)find and choose the edify.zip and or your Rom zip
5)hit configure
6)should say success/ hit back
7)hit theme/
8)press green arrow and choose SOFTKEY. zip
If u have multiple mods u want added after the first one hit theme + again and choose 2nd zip
9)press build/ always make undo(to go back when ever you want)wait til done
10)reboot recovery and look for SOFTKEY/LOCK ICON update zip and flash...DONE / REBOOT
There will also be a undo zip for later use.
Really hope this helps. This will work for 99% of mods so long as u update edify for each ROM.

I just realized I can make folders in my app drawer and organize it. I've never seen any launcher do this. Has it been a touchwiz feature for a while or new for the note2.

whenin the app drawer hit menu, select edit, pick the folder you made and click the + icon. Then select all the apps you want to put in that folder.
I was using apex on my last phone. I guess I never noticed it. Thanks for the info guys.
I figured out how to change the icons to what ever you want with the stock launcher.
And how to get more icons to choose from..
1.download "Icon finder plus.." from the PLAYSTORE it's for downloading icons their is a ton to choose from..
2.download all the icons you want. With icon finder,.
3.use a file browser IE root explorer, to copy the folder that the icons you downloaded are in its labeled" icon finder plus" copy that folder to your camera folder DCIM.
4. When you touch and hold a icon then let go the edit icon brush will appear on the icon touch it .That brings you to the icon selector folder.. here you can select one of the system standard icons. Or
" create photo icon" and select your downloaded icon folder and choose your desired icon crop then ok.

Hmm,
I tried this (following the steps listed in post #1).... After I get to the point where I can "create a photo icon" (step #4), I choose the icon I want from my gallery and nothing happens when I touch it, so I touch it again and it goes back to the previous screen (stock icons) and nothing has changed??
I've tried changing the following icons FB, Chrome, YouTube, music player, and message icons (stock and ChompSMS).
Am I doing something wrong or has anybody else ran into this?
I'm rooted if that makes a difference?

After you touch and hold the icon, then touch the brush, select create photo icon, then select from gallery, then select the folder with your icons in it. When you select the new icon it should go to a crop screen with your new icon on it, you should be able to crop your new icon then hit ok and it should apply...

If you're rooted and really looking to change it, you can add your own manually by copying LGHome3a.apk from your system/app folder to your PC, and replacing the icons yourself. You'll find them in the drawable-hdmi and the drawable-xxhdpi folders by browsing the apk with an archive program. They are named variants of lg_dockmenu_ic_allapps.png.
I was able to replace them without without a problem. I opened pngs in photoshop and pasted over my own icons, saved them, replaced them in the archive, and replaced the original LGHome3a.apk with the modified version.
If you are not rooted then :silly: you probs cannot. But the stock LG launcher is just too nice to change.

I'm pretty sure vivid pack is just for aftermarket launchers. But I'll look into it and see if I can figure out a way to apply them to stock launcher.

No luck on getting the icon packs to work but check this link out. This dev makes LG stock launcher themes. They all work with the stock launcher and are pretty great.
