hi,
quick question: how to edit the quick settings in the drop-down menu (notification tray) in Gingerbread Sense ROMs ? (im using insertcoin)
i want to know ! how to do ?
Maybe this Thread helps you
well unfortunatetly no answer there, just an idea to decompile an .apk and suit it to my needs.
still, anyone ?
Its so simple in MIUI Rom... their is an option in settings/Personal/ Custom Status Bar..
Incase you desperately want the setting, you can try MIUI ;-)
Well it's a difference if you did the thing yourself or if you want to change a HTC based feature without big hacks. I think it's pretty much impossible.
But if there is a solution, let me know - 2G/3G is missing
it is not impossible, in stock you get only a few quick settings, in custom roms (rcmixs, insertcoin) devs extended it - i want to know how, so i can remove the unneeded shortcuts.
robocik: not that easy, you should take a modded systemui.apk and a stock one, decode both with apktool and diff them, that way you will see how it is maked and will be easier for you to modify it.
this is the method, have not tried it yet though.
if any of you intrested guys tries to do this, i really apprecieate your feedback here thx.
and big thanks to robo, not only for all the amazing job he is doing for our community, but also for responding to my Q
I have rooted Desire Z with Virtuous Sence v2 Rom.
Go to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071118
and download Extra QuickSettings 0.2
http://www.multiupload.com/W7GXFQJN6R
Extract SystemUI.apk from zip file.
I used DroidExplorer to replace original : system/app/SystemUI.apk
with the downloaded one and have ne quick settings menu.
Is there any way to change "quick settings" with rooting?
If by "change" you mean "add/remove features in the settings list", yes, there is. Check out this thread.

Hello all, I've been flashing my roms for a long time now, and I'd like to think I'm not much of a newbie here, but there is one thing that is ruining me. I've asked on the thread where the rom has been posted, but no answers.
The Rom in question is AuraxTSense 7.6.1.
Is there a way to get rid of all transparency and just have it look like Sense? (not that I want sense. LauncherPro is my cup of tea) but the transparency on the keyboard, the transparent dock at the top and the dropdown menu looking grey isn't to my fancy. So is there a way to get rid of all transparency? I haven't tried flashing "original theme" from the first page yet, but I will do if it gets rid.
Running NexTSense v6.0 atm and would love to upgrade to the newest version as I do like what Neo is doing with his roms. They are stable and not so battery hungry (that'll be another day to find out the best radio).
Thanks,
Dan

flash the original theme will get rid of the expressobar, flash a diffrent taskbar will get rid of the transparant taskbar and notifiction pull down, and use adb to remove and push the original htc_ime.apk to get the old one back, you could also make your own htc_ime mod at www.gimpsta.com and use that instead
Well flashing the original theme will get rid of it and return theme to stock sense(not espresso), but he states it is for 5.0, so if he have changed anything else in the .apk's it flashes, it might change other things. but i would say go ahead, make a nandroid and try it. Alternatively you could pull the the following from 6.0 and add them to a zip file:
- framework-res.apk
- com.htc.resources.apk
- Rosie.apk
- HtcLockScreen.apk
Those are the one's included in the original theme zip. (edit: also many of the widgets are edited, if you want to change back, pull those from 6.0 as well)
Btw. i love the transparency, and i'm using the rom myself. Only thing missing is transparrent message area, when pulled down. For the keyboard. Just use the "HTC ime mod" which is also included
Cheers for your help guys. I'm gonna check both of them out. Making my own keyboard seems a great idea because I have big thumbs and always hit the . button and would like to get rid of the language. Would be fun times. I do like HTC_IME Mod too tbh, flawless!

Well, I'd just like to confirm that all this worked. I got the AuraxTSense 7.6.1 and NexTSense 6.0 and took all the files out of the 6.0, put them in to a zip file with all of AuraxTSense 7.6.1 and flashed it (after doing Nandroid just incase).
Only thing is the Keyboard didn't get rid of the transparency, but seeing as their is the Multitouch Keyboard, as well as HTC_IME Mod, it's fine!

now this rom has this new file overlay system, you might just be able to replace the htc_ime.apk with the stock one using a file explorer
JVH, JVO and JVP themes can be found in this thread!
I was using ock's gingerbread theme for JVK and really liked versions 1-2. I'm not really interested in "all in one" themes and prefer things to be a bit more modular.
This is a "from scratch" theme, decompiled with apkmanager with graphics from AOSP source.
Also likely to only work with deodexed roms I would assume.
What this does:
* Changes the images in framework-res and SystemUI, these include the window frame shape, status bars and various other graphics.
* Changes a few text colours to properly match the new graphics.
* For the moment, has AOSP stock battery mod. (not percentages).
What this will never do:
* Change your lockscreen.
* Add more lockscreens.
* Have the extended power menu. (iirc these are "unsafe" reboots anyway)
* Include the overscroll glow.
* Include the CRT off animation.
If you're after these features I recommend popping over to ock's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010324
But, but, but, I really like the overglow effect!
dhiru1602's stand alone mod should work with these mods: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027935&highlight=overscroll+glow
TODO:
- Media scanner's entry in the notification dropdown is coloured wrong. (part of TW?)
- Recolour the data connection icon on the power menu.
- Odd browser combo box size error.
- Adjust xml based colours to match AOSP.
Screenshots
Always useful to have a backup when trying new themes, so there's an "uninstall" which will replace the files back to stock.
CWM3 Compatible Installs:
Main theme:
* Install theme - aosp-jvb-vX.Xs.zip
* Samsung stock JVB theme - stock-jvbs.zip
Lockscreen:
* Install AOSP lock - aosp-lock-jvb-s.zip
* Install Samsung lock - glass-lock-jvb-s.zip
MediaProvider: (SDCard scanner)
* Install aosp themed mediaprovider - aospthemed-mediaprovider-jvb-X.X-s.zip
* Install Samsung stock mediaprovider - stock-mediaprovider-jvbs.zip
Changelog:
aosp-jvb=v1.67: 28/04/11
- Properly fixed the browser combobox error instead of just a workaround. No real need to upgrade though.
aosp-jvb-v1.5: 26/04/11
- Fixed most/all the colours to match aosp in styles.xml.
- Fixed the animation on the progress spinners to be 12 frames instead of 8.
aosp-jvb-v1.4c: 22/04/11
- Fixed the notification bar item background bug which was caused by fixing the combo box bug.
aosp-jvb-v1.4: 22/04/11
- Fixed the browser combo box bug.
aospthemed-mediaprovider-jvb-1.1:
- Bugfix.
aosp-jvb-v1.2:
- Edited tw data connection icon to match the aosp theme.
- Optimised the PNGs.
aosp-jvb-v1.1:
- Changed progressbar colour to match aosp. (orange).
aosp-jvb-v1:
- Initial release.
any screenshoot?
i can't see it anywhere
with screenies would be nice
sweet! keep it up! I like that u have only done "minor" changes trying now!

At present I'm not intending to skin the dialler or contacts. More or less only core system related.

It couldn't hurt to give it a shot just replacing them. Just backup your current ones.
Otherwise search this forum for skins of dialler and contacts.

If you're on JVK you probably shouldn't flash this. I believe they are a little different. (you may see minor graphic bugs, etc). If you pop over to ock's thread I believe v1-v2 were for JVK.

"E:signature verification failed"...any ideas?
in fact, i only want to make the signal and wi-fi bars when avalable green instead of the stock light grey.
@sargorn great job with this AOSP theme.. love it. Right now, I cant use the files you provided because I'm using a modded framework-res.apk which includes chinese. Im trying to get your look though. So far, I made the status bar black, but cant seem to get it right. Is it possible if I give you my framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk, you can mod it for me? Sorry to ask you such a big request...thanks

You're probably using the stock kernel? You need to flash a custom gingerbread kernel and/or custom rom (basically you need CWM recovery) This theme is only for deodexed roms, so if you just flashed stock via kies or otherwise this probably won't work.
For a deodexed stock rom check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
Or you can try a custom rom. Check the Development forum for those.

If you just want a minor change, can I recommend the UOT Kitchen?
http://uot.dakra.lt/
It's fairly easy to use (again, you need a deodexed rom for this), grab the framework-res.apk from /system/framework/ from your phone and the SystemUI.apk from /system/app/.
Choose whichever bits you want, then upload those two files and it will generate an update you can flash with CWM.
I think everything except the Boot animation should work on the galaxy s.

I can give it a shot, but without being able to correctly test it, it might be a bit hit and miss.
It's actually not so difficult to do yourself. There is a very good tutorial in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9978779#post9978779
For the images required I grabbed them from android aosp source, or you could simply decompile my framework-res with apk manager.
Tweaking a few things to match the AOSP xml, few colours, sizes, etc.
Will run it tomorrow on my phone and see if I find any issue then upload it if it's ok.
No problems with it, 1.5 is uploaded. Some new screenshots too!
sargorn, you somehow read mi mind with this them. I'm playing with framework pieces for weeks now trying to find the stock gingerbread look for SGS .
Your theme is looking excellent from all points of view.
Anyway ... please tell me what you did in order to fix the combo box bug in browser .. thanks.
I want to change the notification screen to this one, is it possible? how can I do it?
Not sure I can see the identical screenshot, but there are very similar themes in JKay's theme mod thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278
Or maybe try the uot kitchen?
http://uot.dakra.lt/
it is a screenshot from Steel Blue CM7 Theme for SGS2
how can I use this theme with my rom?
This is my baseband version: I9100TJJKF3
my kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100TJJKG1
build number: GINGERBREAD.JJKG1
Oh right - you could have said so...
Seems like you need a custom ROM first - choose one then the installation seems pretty straightforward, all you need is in that thread (Steel Blue thread)
If it's your first time for a custom ROM, read, read, read and search
If I will flash the custom rom and then re-flesh to my rom the theme will be gone? I have to use the custom rom all the time for this theme?
Sorry, I'm not concentrating or reading enough myself
There are themes for stock firmwares there - see post#2 - but not yours (KF3).
So if you want this theme on stock firmware, you'll have to choose another stock ROM (KF2 for example).
Yes, if you reflash stock over a custom ROM you'll lose the theme.
If it's only the notification bar you want and nothing else, I'd try the uot kitchen if I were you. I've not tried it myself, but it seems user-friendly, supports stock ROMs and you can customise just about everything.
I dont know how to use the uot kitchen, can you please help me?
I want to change the notification screen and bar to solid black, like on the pic I posted
Sorry - as said, I've never used it, and I'm offline for the next few hours.
Hope someone else can help.
Decompile SystemUI.apk, browse to /res/drawables-hdpi/ and find the picture you want to change, replace it, compile it and switch the drawables-hdpi folder in the apk

I'm new to android. I know how to flash roms and kernels but that's it.....
As I'm sure Bruflot is well aware of, his "advice" is something that someone new to this shouldn't touch with a bargepole.. I'm still new enough not to try...
Just tried a quick go with the uot kitchen and it will do what you want, just play with it. The "generate preview" will help enormously. If I had time I'd do it for you, but screaming kiddies await me...
@Bruflot - fy fy
So, I forgot to backup my system & framework apk's before I uploaded them into the kitchen and made a new theme. *I know, shame on me*.
Is there a default/stock for those or are they created based of individual phone information?
What i'm asking is, do I need to re-install the rom to get those back or can I just pull them from above said stock apk's?
Android: 2.3.5
Rom:Cm7(08012011)
Any help would be greatly apprecaited!!!
Thanks-

i'm confused. are you saying you dont like your theme and want to go back to stock or you want you want to update to the next nightly but dont want to do the kitchen every time?
I'm not reaaal familiar with the kitchen stuff, I know more than enough to get myself in trouble (changing radio's, roms, etc) but haven't completely grasped the themes yet.
It SEEMS like a couple of things are not changing even if I create a completely new theme (The battery icon, the lockscreen buttons and something else I forget)
My thinking is, there's a generic theme(s) for the rom and when you create a get a new one, it updates certain aspects of it.
If I create a new theme in kitchen and only change the battery, wouldn't all of the other settings revert to the "default" theme?
On a completely different note-
What's the difference between ADW themes and Themechoose themes?

Ah. ok. so what ever you change in the kitchen it will change in the apk. it wont touch the rest of the apk. its kinda like an online apktool. it unpackages it changes the png's you want and then packages it up again using the resources from the apk you submitted. ADW themes are for the ADW launcher so it only themes the home screens. but Themechooser themes the whole phone, or as much as the developer of themechooser allowed it to do.
Great! Thanks
Hey guys,
i want to edit the quick settings in the notification bar. I don't want to flash anything, i want to edit it by myself, so i can put in the stuff i want.
can somebody tell me, witch things i have to edit and where i find them. Or is this too complicated?
(I'm using 2.13 jikantaruROM - Android 1.3.5)
You can only if you create a rom with the desired features in it, then you can also add the quick settings to power menu.
If you install CM7, you can have a quick settings bar at the top.
I'm still s-on and use widgets for this. Go Launcher with the Go widget works great!
