So, I'm bored with my setup, interested in the Ginger-Sense new builds, but wtf???
I have NO clue what's what....
There's MIK'S, EVOZones (based on Mik's, I guess), Deck's... Synergy, but I can only find a thread in the Incredible section..... Too much to read, too much to digest, my brain is melting
Man, I don't want to flash 6 different ROMS. I just want one that makes a good driver....
I'm leaning toward Mik's 1.01, but I guess there's no power widgets in the taskbar pull down, and I need those... (but he has great themes, man!!)
i'm suggesting deck's rom. been running it for about a month now since i switched from cm
Which aspects of ginger sense appeal to you? Might help us be able to narrow it down for you
That's the problem. I don't really KNOW the different aspects and trying to read the treads is an exercise in futility
miks 1.01 is definitly a daily driver, NO DOUBT! yes thier are no power widgets but you do have the toggles, im sure if enough people request it the good people at mikmik will surly take a dive into it for you.
I had the same problem before I started doing my own dev stuff. Someone requested the skyraider rom to be ported, and since I.made that port, its fulfilles my "what I want from my rom" mental battle.
I couldn't decide if I liked the functionality of sense or the customization aspects of aosp more...and skyraider turned out to be the perfect (and as far as I know, only) hybrid that met both of my requests.
Swyped from my SkyRaider Port
Been running synergy for the last two days and I have to say that its the best ginger sense rom I've ever run.......visit infectedrom.com for more info.......
I ended up flashing Mik's and it's great... just 1 big issue; People Apk FC's....

Thats the thing about android; so many different flavors (fragmentation) and you flash them all leaving you bored out your mind. If we had 1 OS like apple/wp7 we wouldn't get bored because there's nothing to flash lol. Try the windows phone 7 launcher (launcher 7) in the market over your current rom it will keep you busy for a little.
just a suggestion, now might be a fantastic time to try cm7, the rom that u fear most (lol)
I ran CM7 for a long time....
I'm really more interested in the Gingersense ROM's. Other than this people.apk problem, Mik's is friggin' sweet!

It was my mistake. I flashed on of the themes in that forum, but didn't see hat it has not played well with 1.01 in some cases. I guess I was one of those cases.....

yeah mik has went from .5 to 1.01 in just a few weeks and he doesn't update each version he pretty much rebuilds em, so the themers are playing catch up every new version. its a great rom i highly reccomend it!

Already tried that. It keeps hanging at the 4G screen? Any ideas
Synergy is by far the best ROM I have ever used. And its not even officially in beta yet.
Also, your thread title made me think of this.

Well, I have worked on Honeycomb port for some weeks, and I was not going to publish it.
But I thought someone would like to see how Honeycomb can perform on our device, and maybe someone could help in development.
Big thanks goes to people working on Desire and Nexus HC ports, i used some tricks in this build too.
Everyone who can help in development are welcomed.
Please note - honeycomb for our device(s) is far from stable and usable now, it can be used for exploring what Honeycomb actually looks like and how can it be used on our device.
What's working now

Xoom based?
Hi there I'm assuming since you've been developing it for weeks it is probably SDK based but now that the motorola Xoom System dump is out could you not use it as a base. It being a real device and everything maybe it can help get things working! Like when gingerbread roms were made from the sdk nothing worked but when the NExus s dump came working builds came too...
So could it work?

I'll keep my mince pies on this thread to see how it develops, im happy enough with Sergio Coredroid HD for now but honeycomb if some devs can get it to fully work certainly interests me.
Indeed is incredible smooth and snapier, what a nice view i saw in this beautifull release of Imilka.
Now will pray for a full working version.

had a quick try and i love it already. ironically ipad2 announced yesterday and i was thinking to myself. its just an upgrade, ive never had that 'experience' apple bosses talk about. ive never had my 'ipad' adapt to me, i jailbreak it to make it better. its a os. simple and clean but very limited (ios btw), same system more speed. honeycomb in my opinion is an evolution. its different and better. its what you expect from an upgrade
I just need the basics, nothing flashy, etc..
Working 4G is preferred since I actually have the service.
i would try azrael x v4 its looks just like stock, but it includes a few tweaks of its own, its pretty fast, small on size and very stable, just remember to do a nandroid backup before flashing, if you have titanium backup i would back up all my apps with it too, for easy restore, then wipe data and caches before you flash new rom, and you are ready to go, almost forgot i also use mybackup to back up my contacts and stuff like that
try Stock Turbo
it's so minimalist that u will have 400MB+ after fresh flashing

All of them? I didnt realize there was more than 1.
How many come with the "stock" ROM?
Well CM7 uses the new TMobile theme engine so there are a bunch of basic themes for it and some are done more so than others. Like Sculpted uses some different icons for the status bar and not sure how deep the themeing goes when you get deeper into it but I think more so than most. Some just take the GB Green and jazz the colors up and some stand alone themes do more 'drastic' themeing. Ill pop a pic up of the cyan themed CM7 you can see stock icons and status bar colors are changed. There are quite a few though so I would suggest you hit the themes section and start checking em out. Some are in the market and are part of the theme engine, I think there are still some that are stand alones but I may be wrong.

The dev thread "yet another aosp gingerbread ROM" has a link to a ROM that's in between Salvage-Mod and CM7. Still has the tweaks of CM7, but uses the stock launcher instead of ADW. Salvage-Mod is the closest to stock though, I think.
There are tons of themes for the t-mobile theme engine on CM7, so you're going to have a hard time getting screen shots of all of them. Easiest to just flash CM and try them out.

There is the link to the thread I was talking about. I ran it for a few days, it's very stable.
As far as VaelPak, it is an awesome ROM, one of my favs and a must for anyone looking to try something new. However, IMO it's about as far as you can get from a bar bones ROM.
I guess what Im really looking for is the barebones Gingerbread theme. And then, along with that, a pretty stripped down, only the essentials, ROM.
So , i was thinking changing from sense to miui.... but havent made my mind yet
could someone who has a little experience on miui roms convince me to switch?
All i ask for is some arguments on miui>sense
please sense/aosp lovers and miui haters dont post here
thanks in advance!
well it seems you already want to switch and dont need much convincing...
seeing as how you will only get biased responses when you ask for only people who love miui to reply. you will only get replies telling you to switch.
only way you can tell is to try it.
but, since you asked for it:
"OMGZ TRY MIUI IZ THE BEST!!!1!11"
The one reason I don't use MIUI at the monent:

Notice the wrong coloured text for the title/Google T&Cs (white on white)? It stops me using it, as silly as that sounds
As ringer13 said, if you're asking MIUI lovers you will just going to hear the good sides of MIUI. I think it's your decision, some like it some not... You have to try it by yourself. Make a nandroid backup if you don't like it so it isn't a lot of work...
Anyway I've wrote a list of advantages and disadvantages. But it's just my opinion.
Advantages:
Layout (Can also be an disadvantage depends if you're liking the iOS like layout)
Theme Manager (very easy to customize the layout with lot of possibilities)
Fast
Nice Backup Features
File Manager
Music Player (with automatic lyrics)
Notification bar (Quick Settings)
Weekly updates
Disadvantages:
Official release just in Chinese, you have to wait some day until the rom is translated...
Translation errors
FM-Radio isn't working
No 720p recording
As EddyOS said the color errors
I think it's more buggy then Sense
I hope it helped you.
For me I wanted something battery efficient and aosp does that for me. Sense is just a battery killer really. I also really like the apps that come with and how many settings come with the rom. There are minor issues like Eddy said but I couldn't care because they get out weighed. Tbh if you want to see what a rom is like you should be trying it, not asking people if you should use it or not. It's taken me months and months of flashing and now I'm finally settled on miui androids rom.

MIUI convert here. I highly recommend MIUI Au for the best MIUI english experience. The guys do amazing work with the rom and are providing weekly updates and patch fixes to problems as they are found.
In last release *everything* was working, except wifi but that is fixed by flashing an alternative kernel available from the site. Just do a nandroid backup and flash away, if you dont like it, roll back!
To echo what's been said already - backup, flash and try it out.
I flashed the latest version last weekend and kept it for a couple of days. It was a bit of a shock going from an AOSP ROM, almost like learning to use a new OS again.
Not having an app drawer befuddled me - I was poking at the screen waiting for a full apps list to appear
As a ROM it is very polished, looks terrific and has plenty of customisation options. I liked the folder options for home screen. Battery was pretty good too. I can understand why it has so many passionate converts.
I ended up going back to Oxygen though for one reason only - laggy menus. They were driving me nuts, especially as I was setting everything up from new.
I'll keep an eye on the translated versions on the XDA dev page and may try it again though.
I tried it for a very brief time
Way to iPhone for my liking ! .....

My thoughts exactly! I love eye candy and MIUI has such a nice design and concept (my opinion), but it was too laggy for me.
miui is really excellent and a good battery saver rom. in standby it stays more then 2 days for me. with sense i always had to charge it after 1 day.
I use MIUI-XJ X-part.. and i feel it is the best Rom... it isnt laggy a bit.. may be your installation is not perfect.. for me its damn fast... superb battery life..and so much of free space.. and ram.. for those who dont like.. IOS type interface.. you can always use launcher pro.. or go launche ex.. .i have used it too.. and I did not found any laggyness...
Some missing things are FM Radio.. and 720p recording.. which I am not a fan of.
And we might get 720p recording soon.. I miss FM sometime though..
I dont hate any ROM.. always apprecaite work behind it.. but I love MIUI
This may not be the correct thread for, I just figured the most eyes would see it here. My apologies but, as my topic suggests, would it be possible to create a cookie like mod for sense 3.0? Giving sense options like in adw launcher for example. I like sense roms but, really like the options adw launcher offers, such as hiding the status bar and extending the desktop. Just shooting it out there, maybe a genius or two could come up with a solution...

Now, after a second reading of what I wrote, I can see how it may have confused some...
Let me elaborate, on when I was still using windows mobile 6.5, for example, on the touch pro 2, a moderator or cook, I forget, but his name is Cookie w/ a pic of cookie monster. Anyway, he created a mod for sense 2.1, I believe called cookie home tab. Which allowed the user several custom functions to the home tab of sense 2.1. What I am asking, is would it be possible to develop a similar mod for sense 3.0?
Thank you

That is exactly who I am talking about! My man, I will do that. I already be over on the mikmik forums. I didn't know he was affiliated with them though.
NRGZ back!!! & he means business!!!
I too used WM6.5.x roms with t. he CHT mod cooked into the rom, usually. I had the HTC Diamond,Touch Pro,& Touch Pro 2 & the first rom i would always use,or go back to was always one of NRGZ WM 6.5.x roms with the CookieHomeTab cooked in the rom. NRGZ roms simply had unmatched,& unrivaled, eye candy, performance, stability, & the customization options always made me stay with NRGZ roms back then. Im sure after he tweaks & finetunes his new Evo Sense 3.0 rom that it will be plenty fast & stable enuf for daily use. Glad to run an NRG rom again. NRG always made my all-time favorite roms, by far. Cant wait to see what he does next. NRG is exactly what the Evo 4G needed to keep it in the limelight. Big thanks to NRG for renewing/keeping my interest in the Evo, & for releasing the best Sense 3.0 or 3.5 rom ive ever tried/used. Excellent work. Thanks again NRG!
I too had all those phones and always ran NRGZ roms! Yes, NRG is the man when it comes to making roms. I love his astetics as well as the performance of his roms. I was sad when I made the switch to android, cause I could no longer flash his roms. But now he is here due to a donation of an evo made to him. I second him staying around for a little bit cooking. Ill fasho be in his kitchen. At least until I get my Samsung galaxy s3!
Currently I'm running Cyanogen 7 and I previously ran MIUI
As newer and newer version of the ROM came out I started getting more and more FC's and random reboots and I'm honestly getting real tired of it. I'm looking for a striped down light ROM that runs fast on the droid inc. I don't need any special features...light and clean.
Suggestions?

DInc with CyanogenMod 7.1

I looked through the link and unless I'm totally overlooking the post or link to it, I don't see where he types out the features of the ROM...like custom lock screen, integrated screenshot...etc

You have to go through the commits. See what's merged and what's experimental. Pons usually doesn't release change logs/features lists. Cause its all cm7.

I've had great luck with GingerDeck but it's a bit out of date since the Dev is working on ICSdeck (which is almost there, but still not stable enough for daily use as I found out). Now I'm running Condemned, which has been updated several times recently (last time being yesterday). I find the ROM very clean and stable.
Mikrunny is okay if you like sense 3.5 slowness and prettiness.
Mctwist sense 2.1/3.0 is nice if you can find a link.
Latest CM nightly for me. I try every rom, always find myself coming back.
here is an almost fully working miui v4 rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509512
