i recently have my defy, out of the box, i SKIPPED the motoblur create account.
then i updated via MSU and now i am running 2.2 froyo. i wanted to create my motoblur account now but the "accounts" app (with the "M" and blur logo) is missing/not in the app drawer.
1. is my updated froyo still with blur? (i updated and my location is saudi arabia)
2. if with blur, why i cant find it (the "accounts" app)?
3. how can i determine if my defy is with motoblur?
4. i just wanted to have "via Motoblur" status on facebook , not the "via Android".
5. and of course back up my contacts via motoblur.
please help me..thanks in advance.
Is your device rooted?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
no, it is not rooted, just upgraded to froyo a day after i buy it..
Create a motoblur account, If a motoblur account has not been created than it can not say your status has been updated "via motoblur" also be sure to download the app via Market called "Facebook for Android" let me know what happens
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
by default (i reset it), it has a facebook widget then i logged in to it, still the status is "via android"..
btw, i dont get the create motoblur account after resetting it.
what should i do? how to determine if my version of android is with or without motoblur?
Checking for the application, go to settings..application.. manage applications.. all.. scroll through this list of applications and see if you can find anything relating to motoblur.. did you update by flashing or via auto update?
Go to setting.. about phone.. and list current android version
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
Under the manage applications, you should be looking for a app called "Accounts" ill will be a red background with a M and BLUR in the application icon. Positive its there if all you did was skip the set up.. when upgraded from enclair to froyo it didn't give me a option to skip.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I did not find it anywhere.
Is it just me, or are Sense 2.2 ROMs not showing Adobe Flash in the market? I search and I cannot find it anywhere. It is installed, but not in the market.

well there you go - explains why I didn't see it. for the record, running 2.2 on BakedSnack and no adobe flash in the market with this build.
If you're rooted, grab the hacked version of Flash, works much better than the stock version.

first time I've seen this - how's it better? Is it faster at all, more stable? Something like that?
Hacked version will allow you to watch Hulu and other online sites that requires full desktop flash. After installing the hacked version, open your browser and enter about:debug, hit menu, settings and scroll down to ua string, set it to desktop and you'll be ready to roll

go to settings --> applications --> manage applications --> all --> market
clear data and cache. then restart the market and let it load, should be the new version.
My market is updating to new v3 of the market and crashes within 10 seconds after starting..
I have tried a few things but no good. I like the new market but I cannot run it. I have to uninstall updates and use old market, which runs stable.
Any Help will be appreciated
Using HTC Desire Z rooted with CM7.
So the new market 3.1.3 right? If so, I was having the same issue. What I did is keep the market you were previously using, 3.1.0 I believe. Then download the APk for the new version and install it. It will ask to replace the current version. Click yes. This worked for me and now I'm having no issues.
Correction market 3.0.27 is the one I was using before the new one 3.1.3.
tried installing from the apk , tried learing cache and data, tried rebooting a no. of times.. nothing working. It keeps crashing..
any1 else here knows a solution ??
n btw my market version is currently 2.3.3 which runs fine.. i cant update to any newer version .. :s
Man i have this problem too!
So i went back to 2.3.3
Juat wait until the rom your using gets updated so it has the new market

Go into your settings and make sure your language is set properly, some folks are finding that resetting their language fixes the problem.

err.. don't mean to sound stupind but from where is the "languages Menu" ??? i can't find it anywhere in the old market :s
It's in your system menu. Seems to have worked for me too.
Thanx a lot guys!!
Its kinda weird how u can fix a market crashing problem by changing the language in system settings. btw my language was set to hd(unitesd states) changed it to English. Market is working fine now.
A great community and really helpful people! cheers!

As soon as I enter the newly installed market, I get a blank background for a couple of seconds and it directly crashes saying that the application stopped unexpectedly.
I am using XDAndroid (Froyo FRX07 on my Blackstone).
I don't think I can reach the menu?!?!?
The only problem I got, it won't always download..
first I had stock rom Desire HD with the new Market.. sometimes I couldn't install someting... and now I got the Android Revolution Rom HD 6.1.0 with the new market, same problem..
So I guess it''s the market problem, not our phone problem
Re-selecting language worked for me also.
Thanks!
THANKS! Re-selecting the language trick worked for me too!

Rootzwiki > ET4G forums > they have a completely stripped ROM for you.
Yes, there are other ROMs...
There are indeed custom ROMs out there...I am just offering help for those folks like me who are rooted but wish to continue using the stock ROM and just tweak it a bit by stripping it down and removing bloat. Installing a full custom ROM is a separate matter...

Backup/Restore Suggestions...
The first thing I like to do immediately after rooting a new phone and making a ClockworkMod backup is to use Root Explorer to then make two copies of the following folders prior to stripping out any apps: System/App folder, System/Media folder, and the ClockworkMod/Backup folder (Which at this point contains a ClockworkMod backup of the original, unstripped stock ROM.)
I like to keep one copy of each of these three folders on the SD card itself, and put the second copy of each on my computer at home as a safe, redundant backup.
Then, if you ever want to restore any app that you had previously stripped out, you simply use Root Explorer to copy and paste the app (and it's .odex file) from your original copy of the System/App folder on the SD card to the System/App folder on the phone, and then (if necessary) change the app and it's .odex's permissions to match the correct settings that all of the other apps and .odex's are set to: Long-press the .apk or .odex, select "permissions", then make sure the permissions match up exactly with the other system .apk's permissions. Reboot the phone, and the app will be restored, good to go! (I like to reboot to recovery and clear the cache and Dalvik cache also...)
Cheers!

Thanks VegasRooted...looking to do something similar with my E4T. Too many apps running in the background that I have no idea what they're doing.
I'm having a problem finding the Insecure Kernel that closely resembles mine: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734. Can you point me to where I can find the correct one? I can't show the link that I found at Inspired Geek that lists different kernels.

Google "Epic 4G Touch Root Zedomax" and go to the XDA forum thread where you can follow the instructions to use Odin to install a (mostly) stock kernel with Superuser added to it, or Google "Android Creative Syndicate" and go to their website where you can find another Kernel to load the same way that has Superuser and ClockworkMod in it...Both will get you rooted, and there is a stock ROM (EG30) out there also that you can install with Odin in case anything goes wrong and you have to roll everything back to stock...(I did this once also.)
I am using Zedomax's Kernel right now...once installed it shows as "2.6.35.7"
Cheers!

Thanks so much! This gave me a great start to getting rid of everything useless on my phone.
hey OP, thanks for the list.
I posted a ROM a little while ago on rootz here
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8056-rom-10262011-naerokrom-beta-v12-odex-bare-bones-130mb/
on the 3rd post, I listed all the apk's I removed through personal testing. There might be some in there you don't have listed, if you want to take a look. Hope it helps get rid of all the junk you don't need. I'm sure you are OCD like I am about pre-installed crapware
If I dont want to uninstall all those applications, can I just use titanium backup to freeze them and be just as effective?

depends on what you mean by "effective"
although they are frozen, they still take up a lot of space in the /system partition.
I like to remove them completely and keep the partition as light as possible
Cool

Those are mostly still correct. I thought removing Google talk messed other stuff though so I wouldn't delete that. When I run a stock setup I only delete stuff I know for sure I don't use. This includes the Samsung widgets and apps, Sprint apps, and the randoms like nova and nascar.
This is basically cakulins bare rom converter. With the exception of a few apps.

It does. Remember that you have to flash it immediately after flashing a new Rom.

what rom the 4.2.2 rom im using blinkfeed displays twitter perfectly.. remember to enable it in the settings of blinkfeed.
I am currently using Revolution Rom 10, which uses 4.2.2 and my twitter is working properly. Id check to see if this is a ROM customization where they took twitter out for some reason, or maybe its just not selected in your list of sources for blinkfeed.
Maybe....
When I flash Android Revolution, this rom show me the pre-install apps that I can install. If I don't select facebook or twitter, When the phone start, this apps don't appear to select in blinkfeed options although I install from Google Play, this don't appear. Sorry for bad english.
I'm on Android Revolution 10.2. I did not select to install twitter when i was flashing the new rom. Is there a way i can install it now?
Sources I have for blinkfeed now are Flickr, Instagram and Linkedin.
