hey guys
had my desire for a couple of days now and am very impressed with how good this fone is !! its my first android fone so im pretty new to how they work etc
i decided to have a play around with the sdk tools and adb as i have a certain app that i wanted to install that can only be done via adb method.I managed to get everything installed ok and working but have come across an error when trying to install the said app
i use the following command
adb install [-I] c:\appname.apk
but get the following error
[install_failed_insufficient_storage] ??
I know the app installs to the phones internal memory which is naff !! but ive got 94mb of 147 available so i dont understand why i keep getting this error ?
Ive uninstalled all the apps i had and even tried installing a smaller app using this method but still got the same error ? I know there is space available but dont know whats happening ? the app im trying to install is 12mb plus 57mb download onto sdcard once installed
So any help would be greatly appreciated ,like i said im new to this so trying to understand it the best i can
I have just follow the instruction on xda developer to root and flashed my htc desire to the latest radio and 2.2 but after I turn on the phone the Android Market icon is gone, can anyone help please?
THanks you
Flash this
http://mirror.kanged.net/gapps/gapps-hdpi-20100817-signed.zip
btw the rom i am currently on is update-cm-6.0.0-Desire-RC2-signed.zip
from Cyanogen
thank you sososos much !
it worked !!
The CM6 ROM doesn't come with the google apps installed, it says in the first post of the RC2 thread that you need to flash the file I showed you too
I'm having the same problem with my Incredible. I just flashed WarmZ 2.2 & no longer have the Market App. I tried the link above but it doesn't appear to be avaiable anymore.
I recently purchased the white SE Xperia X10a at an AT&T store. I've been looking everywhere on the internet on how to install 2.1 and SWYPE. I have installed SEUS and Pc Companion for upgrading to 2.1. It still says that my phone is up to date (its running 1.6). I've tried uninstalling SUES and PC Companion and re-installing it. Still didn't work. I want to at least get SWYPE. My phone doesn't have an option to "allow unknown sources" because it's locked down. I've tried the Sideload Wonder Machine and it won't recognize my phone even though I have drivers installed. Help please! I've tried everything!
have you found help?? I'm in the same boat man!! About to return!
i dont think it can be updated that yet at&t hasnt released it.
u have to de brand or load a custom rom of 2.1
as far as sideload wm i got it to work after playing with it for a while
i dont remember what i did as im pretty good at trying every possible option until something works. and once again i did that haha
two things i know i did for sure.
get the beta version of SWM place it in the root of your computer drive.
try every way to install drivers.
one way i found before was by downloading something for android from pdanet
and make sure you have installed android sdk
reboot computer.
hopefully you can play around with those options till it works
Install android sdk and make sure it works. Find jerpeleas flash tool and pick a shipped global rom. Flash, root, install swype. Ill post links here after class.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
okay i my mother in law got this x10a from att and its running 1.6 i got it rooted but i cant install xrecovery because it wont let me install apk if its not from the market place. so is there any way i can flash a 2.1 rom then i should be able to allow apk files right????
p.s. im not use to this my vibrant was much easier.
I did the super one click root on my cliq xt last night. Everything is working fine there, but now I can't get ROM Manager to install it will download but not install, and good luck gettin that Koush guy to answer anything. Is there another way to flash a new ROM to my Cliq XT. Any help would be so much appreciated..
Thank you,
Will
install droidx bootstrapper first then rom manager, that should work
where do I find that at, is it on android market???
yeah that didn't work, same result as trying to install ROM Manager, it will download the app but won't install it. Is there any settings I should have set differently.
if the bootstrapper is on the phone it should be installed.Visit koushs website and it has instructions on what to do.I did that and everything worked but i am on droidx (search for koush dutta and it has lots of info
first link you see is it koushikdutta my brain hurts... search you tube also... good info and walkthroughs there
yeah but I can not get either of them to actually install on the phone, they will download but not install. I did some looking on google android FAQ and someone on there said there is a problem with android market not sending the 1.5 version of the app and google is trying to fix. Is there another way to get the new ROM on my phone without using ROM Manager..... THanks again for any help you can give....
z4root
Hey sorry I have been outta town... you might try to root your phone with z4root then try it all again...I used z4 and redid it all and it works on droidx... maybe try that

Issue is this:
To install the ROM, you will need the ClockWorkmod ROM Manager.
Start Android Market on your phone and search for ROM Manager. Install the Clockwork Mod ROM Manager. Note that your Defy must be rooted before you can install ROMs on it.
Click to collapse
Being as I deleted google apps I can't use the market. So I managed to find a googleapps1.3 apk file on the net, reinstalled it but it just crashes and requires force close whenever it starts, have been told it is a permissions issue so I tried fixing permissions via ROM manager but I get this error:
"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
Now ultimately I want 2.2 froyo anyway, but what is the best way to get the correct Clockwork Mod ROM Manager APK for a motorola defy? I've looked everywhere but cannot find it.
ROM manager has an option to download it, but it only gives options for Droid x, droid 2 and some other non defy phone.
So how do I get myself out of this pickle and install froyo 2.2 or at least get google apps 1.3 working again?
Really appreciate any help, thanks guys
had to make a new account as my password wont work and neither will password recovery
anyway I tried using the defy recovery but it says the update.zip file is invalid and doesn't pass the certificate test or some random thing
how am to get google apps working again? all I want is my stock rom working, or if I can get a 2.2 version that is exactly the same that'd be great.
Can anyone help me? I have the googleapps.apk file but it just crashes if I reinstall it.
If you just want to get back to stock...
1. Send it in for repair.
2. Find a relevant SBF file and flash via RSD Lite. What does Settings -> About phone tells you?
system version blur_version.2.51.1.mb25.retail.en.GB
JRDNEM_U3_2.5.1.1
where would I look to find the SBF file?
managed to find a stock rom and reflash it, all is good now
thanks guys
