[Q] Deleted googleapps by accident, can't fix phone. - Defy General

www <DOT> brighthub.com/mobile/motorola/articles/102410 <DOT> aspx
Issue is this:
To install the ROM, you will need the ClockWorkmod ROM Manager.
Start Android Market on your phone and search for ROM Manager. Install the Clockwork Mod ROM Manager. Note that your Defy must be rooted before you can install ROMs on it.

Being as I deleted google apps I can't use the market. So I managed to find a googleapps1.3 apk file on the net, reinstalled it but it just crashes and requires force close whenever it starts, have been told it is a permissions issue so I tried fixing permissions via ROM manager but I get this error:
"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
Now ultimately I want 2.2 froyo anyway, but what is the best way to get the correct Clockwork Mod ROM Manager APK for a motorola defy? I've looked everywhere but cannot find it.
ROM manager has an option to download it, but it only gives options for Droid x, droid 2 and some other non defy phone.
So how do I get myself out of this pickle and install froyo 2.2 or at least get google apps 1.3 working again?
Really appreciate any help, thanks guys

had to make a new account as my password wont work and neither will password recovery
anyway I tried using the defy recovery but it says the update.zip file is invalid and doesn't pass the certificate test or some random thing
how am to get google apps working again? all I want is my stock rom working, or if I can get a 2.2 version that is exactly the same that'd be great.
Can anyone help me? I have the googleapps.apk file but it just crashes if I reinstall it.

If you just want to get back to stock...
1. Send it in for repair.
2. Find a relevant SBF file and flash via RSD Lite. What does Settings -> About phone tells you?

system version blur_version.2.51.1.mb25.retail.en.GB
JRDNEM_U3_2.5.1.1
where would I look to find the SBF file?

managed to find a stock rom and reflash it, all is good now
thanks guys

[Q] Market bug!!

Thx beforehand!
Using Dinc skyraider 3.2 sense hydra kernel OC 1.15 ghz w/ ov
I noticed a problem when i tried to buy an app(ishoot) from the market, the transaction went ok, it charged the money from my account, but it would not download saying that authorization fail or something. Then i bough another app(fruit ninja) and it downloaded and installed fine. Then an update came out for it and it downloaded fine. Now every update that i try to install downloads fine, but does not install.. so does any1 know a solution to this, or does any1 know where to find the downloaded files so i could install using root explorer?? THX
I use astro but i am sure it's the same.
I have the same problem every now and then and this is what i do...
go into /mnt/sdcard/download
in there you will find your .apk's. you probably have a few in there now. i would delete all of them. go back to market and re-download them. if they do not install, i go to the download folder and launch them through there.
works like a charm.
EDIT: this has nothing to do with what ROM or kernel you have. i have had this problem on every ROM i've tried.

[Q] Unable to download apps from the market

Hi,
since I've rooted my phone and went for DeFrost/OpenDesire I'm unable to download any apps from the market. I've set the installation source to internal memory. I've tried to re-install the ROM, cleaning, wiping data/cache and basically everything around that. I'm even unable to download Apps with the original 2.2 unrooted STOCK rom now.
Any ideas?
What I did so far:
- Wiping the phone
- Formating the SD card
- Basically everything to default
- Installed FroYo 2.2.1 Pre-Rooted
And still I cant download apps from the market.
Please I am begging for ideas
try clearing market's data in "application" section of "settings"
does your problem include free apps? or paid only?
Hi,
did that.
Applies for paid and free apps
Apps Install Problem
Hi,
I've got kinda the same problem.
Got root phone with custom ROM (Neophyte) and download apps form market is fine but after they don't install and I still have the installing process running but nothings happens.
I've try to change ROM but in Cyamogen I don't even see the Android Market.
I have partitioned the SD card with Rom Manager to get APP2SD but I d'ont know if this is working. How to check?
Someone can help? Which ROM should I use to test if the market is Ok?
Can I put a HTC rom into my rooted phone?
I do have the feeling that my phone is not allowed to place the files somewhere it would need to. Does anyone know where files from the market are being placed when the download starts?
Update:
I found a solution. I need to disable the SD card and them I'm able to download files again. So I guess its some kind of app2sd problem?
And with defrost its not working anylonger.
GOD DAMNIT. This is driving me crazy
So even with a ext3 partition I'm unable to download these Apps. I've tried repair mode from ROM manager and he successful fixed everything - without a result.
If anyone has an idea please tell me. I'm unable to use my phone this way and I don't have any idea at this point. I just revoked everything going back to an unrooted HTC Desire EU 2.2 rom.
Its still not working. I dont get this.
SD card was formated, Phone was wiped - its in the same state as yesterday before I rooted it. So how the heck is it not working anymore?! Cant be its kinda hardware bricked or something ... ffs
PLEASE
I have the same problem. After creating the partion in rom manager I am unable to DOWNLOAD apps for the market but I can still install apk's from the memory card.
SOLUTION!!!
The solution is quite simple actually. Tried it on HTC Tattoo
Go to Settings>Applications>Managae Applications>Market and uninstall all the updates for Market and clear cache. Try Downloading Apps from Market.
Cheers!

Unable to download Apps on Market after I unlocked my Tmobile Vibrant
I'm also having the same problem after I unlocked my Tmobile vibrant.
If i reset my phone and go to apps market, Im able to download fine, but after closing apps market and opening it again and try downloading any apps, nothing happens. It says its "starting download" but nothing happens. It seems to be stuck at that "starting download" process. But if I reset my phone and go back to the Apps market and try downloading apps and everything will work temporary.
I tried going into settings---->applications----> manage applications----> clear cache---->reboot
Also tried going to Download Manager-Clear Data----Reboot
Also tried uninstalling updates for Apps Market.
Nothing helps.
Please help if you find a way to fix this problem.

[q] rom manager won't install on phone, any hellpppp please!!1

I did the super one click root on my cliq xt last night. Everything is working fine there, but now I can't get ROM Manager to install it will download but not install, and good luck gettin that Koush guy to answer anything. Is there another way to flash a new ROM to my Cliq XT. Any help would be so much appreciated..
Thank you,
Will
install droidx bootstrapper first then rom manager, that should work
where do I find that at, is it on android market???
yeah that didn't work, same result as trying to install ROM Manager, it will download the app but won't install it. Is there any settings I should have set differently.
if the bootstrapper is on the phone it should be installed.Visit koushs website and it has instructions on what to do.I did that and everything worked but i am on droidx (search for koush dutta and it has lots of info
first link you see is it koushikdutta my brain hurts... search you tube also... good info and walkthroughs there
yeah but I can not get either of them to actually install on the phone, they will download but not install. I did some looking on google android FAQ and someone on there said there is a problem with android market not sending the 1.5 version of the app and google is trying to fix. Is there another way to get the new ROM on my phone without using ROM Manager..... THanks again for any help you can give....
z4root
Hey sorry I have been outta town... you might try to root your phone with z4root then try it all again...I used z4 and redid it all and it works on droidx... maybe try that

[Q] Market down?

What's going on with the market? I literally downloaded ClockworkMod about 15 minutes ago and tried flashing something, the file wasn't there so I didn't end up flashing, turned the phone back on and the market just will NOT download. Has it gone down?
Also just quickly, if I flash RUU 1.32 or whatever it's called, will I lose root?

You will lose root, yes
And market is working fine for me
Obivously something I've done along the way, http://zantekk.de/~desire_hd/offici....140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe this is the latest version we have root for, correct?
I just installed Android RevolutionHD 2.0.15 (and after a reboot 2.0.16) for the first time and trying to get my apps on the phone through the market and it seems that i have the same problem:
If i want to download any app with any connection it tries to start and soon it sais "unable to download... plz try later blabla"
Was wondering if the problem was related to the Custom Mod AR HD because someone in the mods thread had the same problem. But when you're saying you're on stock rom i think something is going on here^^
[e] Now its working again. Seems it was related with the store and not the rom.
I did correct permissions through Rom Manager (installed with apk) though im not sure if it is related to the market now working again.

[Q] Can't Install/uninstall Winamp

Hey Guys,
I need your help. Long time ago I installed winamp 1.2.9 on my device but yesterday I've noticed that there is no shortcut listed to start the App.
So I tried to figure out why. I tried to install the apk file again but it fails telling Install not being successful.
I tried the newer version of Winamp on the Market but again install fails telling Not Compatible update!
I tried to locate the Winamp Files in System Folder an deleted them successfully. But again the same problem.
Tried to wipe cache and dalvik --> Boot loop
Is there a way to clean deinstall the App manually in order to re install the new version?
Using Kindle Stock ROm ver. 6.3.1 rooted
Thank you so much in advance

part of the problem may lie in the fact that your using rooted stock dunno? have you tried something like root uninstaller pro? to remove the app also I hate to say this to everyone as a fix sometimes it does work out for the better truthfully I have never see it not but you can flash modaco found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 right over your existing system without wiping that might clear up any chances of permission issues as far as removing an app. As far as updating an app just because it shows available doesnt mean that it is for your device compatibility issues are usually that way for a reason maybe it doesnt like gingerbread?? but there is another option you could always just sideload it instead and see if it takes and functions correctly good luck
I have provided my dropbox link to you in a pm give it a shot doesn`t mean that the icon will show in your apps though
