How do you root 2.3.3 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just put the tmobile leaked unrooted version of 2.3.3 and want to root with clockwork and all that so can anyone help?

You should fo rooted first then put the rmk or xboarder versions.. now you are stuck until root is available. You can't even downgrade, I believe..

Always, alwayssss search before you do something. Because now I don't believe there is a way to downgrade. Check the Dev thread to see if there is an option to downgrade.
And of course this belongs in the Q&A thread.

Little late to ask questions now, hope you enjoy the Tmo G2 Gingerbread, cause you are stuck........why don't people read threads first before they act is beyond me, it clearly states you will be unrooted, stuck with no root and s_on if you flash that leak rom. But since your posting your Q in the dev section and not the Q & A section kinda shows you don't read much of anything. FYI there is a rule that you don't post Q - questions in the dev section, only roms, kernels, radios, guides, and the alike, not questions....enjoy.

these are the things need to allow your phone to accept any roms by flashing
those are like locks/obstacles for your phone u have to unlock all of it to be able to flash those roms but you will need to downgrade your firmware version if its any higher than 1.32 then root the phone using visionary and use the easy desire hd radio tool to do the s-off,radio-off,etc.
Check this thread, should explain it all.

any updates on root for official 2.3.3 update ?

just wondering if any one has heard on any developments on how to root the desire on 2.3.3 , i pray someone is doing something, im pretty dam fed up of this update -.-
Heres an idea. Instead of spamming the q&a section about the gingerbread update again, I suggest you go find the other 7 or so threads on gingerbread and find out for yourself.

sorry :/ i just really want this peice of **** software off my phone, quick question is there any way to fake a bootloader ( eg make the boot loader in the 2.2 ruu seem like the 1.xx boot loader you get with the 2.3.3 update but its actually the 0.94 bootlader ? if you get what i mean, maby that way the ruu would flash propperly and i would be back on 2.2 )

Hello, guys
I am a Desire user, and I'm sick of the Android 2.2, so I want to ask you how I can install the 2.3 version of it.
Note: I have unlocked the phone when I bought, I am from Macedonia, if it makes any difference about the q!

Use the 2.20 root method. Click the Everything Evita link in my signature, that's a compilation thread, you'll find a link to the 2.20 root method there.
PS. Questions go in the q&a section, please post in the right section in future.

I need root first so can u help me in rooting first without unlocking bootloader
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No, you don't need root first. You need to unlock your bootloader using the method I previously mentioned. I did say that for a reason. Once you have an unlocked bootloader you can install a custom recovery, then you can install root or a rooted ROM.

I see the thread is reported and will be moved soon. Good luck at mahesh, hope you get things done in the one XL forum. And to timmaaa for extensive provided help
