So I am fairly new to the process but I really tried to read all I could on a few different forums. I installed the cwm recovery that said it was compatible with both ext4 and rfs file systems had no problems there. Then after reading more I went ahead wiped all my data cache dalvik 3 times like some recommend made back ups before hand. Everything seemed to work fine once I flashed cm7 everything works that they said would work when the phone starts up but when I try to access any sd card functions from cwm recovery it says that the sd card file path can't be found and won't let me flash google apps or even restore my back ups since they're obviously on the sd card. I've tried doing it in rom manager just to see if that would change anything but it doesn't help. I love the setup and performance when the phone is up and running but is there any way to fix this problem or do I just need to hook it up to the computer and flash it back using odin? Thanks in advance for the help

Oh yeah the sd card mounts fine when the phone is running. I can access all my files through file manager and the gallery works fine

Did everything the way I normally do when flashing a new rom.
Now when I attempt to load any ROM from my sd card, I get this message:
Installing system files ...
E:Error in /sdcard/Incredible Files/SkyRaider_33_Sense_Final.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I also try to do a restore from my nandroid backups and it ALWAYS "freezes". Now the only thing I can do is boot into recovery but nothing after that. I've read through a lot of material and know how to do most things, however I'm by no means an expert and now I feel like I've caused irreversible damage.
HELP?
sounds to me like your rom got corrupt during the download, i would try to download it again after deleting the file off your SD card.
did you download it from a PC or from your inc? i have seen people get corrupt files when downloading straight from the inc, its best to use a PC to download the roms
you can use the mount menu in recovery to mount your usb storage if you dont have an adapter to read the microsd, this will let you replace the possibly corrupt rom with a fresh zip
My original sd card has become unreadable by both my incredible and by my sd card reader. I have another one and loaded all of the backed up files I had on the old one. I've tried downloading the ROM through ROM Manager as well as placing the file on the new sd card and both do the same thing.
I honestly have no idea what to do now and am worried that not everything I need was transferred to the new sd card.
I just want to be able to load ANY ROM and I'm willing to reset/wipe anything and everything but I don't think there's anything I can do at this point....
well there is nothing that needs to be on the SD card at all aside from the backup or [rom].zip file you are trying to flash
have you tried installing a different rom with recovery? maybe virtous rom?
also what version of clockwork recovery are you running?

And you're sure it's FAT32?

Positive it's FAT32 and I just flashed the most current Clockwork Recovery from ROM Manager.

Try to format/partition the sd via recovery. The new clockwork has this method (haven't tried it and don't know if it works) and the alternate RA does, too. I've used that one and know it works. Try that (leave the defaults, which is 512mb sd-ext, 32mb or similiar swap, I think, and the rest as FAT32).
boot into hboot (vol down and power when device is off)
what hboot version and baseband are you running?
I dont think the sd card is the problem
I wiped the dalvik and batt stats and for whatever reason tried again to reinstall the ROM and it went through this time.
Everything seems to be working as normal. Man was that one weird ass experience.
So i went to flash a ROM and now it says while flashing that the flash was aborted because the system can't mount the SD card. I'm using the newest CWM and have flashed stuff before. Not sure what to do, it wont let me make backups, restore, or flash anything.

Did you use the Mounts menu to try to manually mount the sd?
Also, Which method did you use to get into CWM?

Ya i went into the menus and manually unmounted and then remounted the SD card but that didn't do anything. I used the typical three finger method to boot into CWM like i always do.
i think
I believe this has something to do with the way in which the SD card is formatted I also cannot mount in to usb storage in CWM i get an E: error
Have you guys tried to "Reboot recovery" from the "Adavnced" menu in CWM, and then try to flash the ROM?
I've had this happen before, it was a formatting problem. The easiest fix I found was to back up SD-card data on your pc, reformat the card from the Android system, then copy your data back over. CWM should be able to mount your card now.
I had a problem with the mount dropping mid flash it was my sd for some reason was chipped I always keep backup files

Just flash another version of CWM and u'r done. I faced this problem after flashing Siyah Kernel v2.3 which includes CWM 5.0, and I tried all the methods online; formatting, error-checking, etc... nothing succeed!
Finally I flashed another kernel (Which includes CWM 4.0) and it worked fine.
Thanks!
Same thing happened to me just now... found this thread.. pushed new CWM in ODIN - Worked like a charm.. Fixed in 2 minutes..
Flashing another CWM (ACS recovery this time...) via Odin did not fix the issue. Going to try the format /sdcard fix and see... argh!
*Edit* aaaand that didn't work either. WTF... I literally just got this phone 2 hours ago... brand new.
delete the .androidsecure folder on your sd that worked for me formatting wont work if you put your files on the same with me because i always copied that folder along too
I've made numerous backups and I can't not get any to ever restore. I wipe 3x and also wipe Dalvik and the restore says checking MD5 for a while then it looks like it's restoring but it finishes pretty quick like around 2min after I start it. Then it never gets past the HTC white screen. Have to battery pull and install from zip which has me redoing everything again.
Any ideas? Never had this issue on my OG D1. I've even reinstalled CWM recovery with no dice.
If you used the SD card from the og Droid try the one from the Inc or tomato the old. Ibhad the same problem coming from my old droid

I'm using the 16 gb card that came with the inc2. I just reformated it on my computer after letting cwm partition it and upgraded to ext4 from ext3 partition. I'm going to try it again soon when the new kingdom a2 is uploaded.

Same Problem but I fixed it
I had the same problem and I fixed it by copying my sd card, and clearing the sd card and only putting back the rom I was going to install/flash. I then flashed my first backup which was the initial rom I saved right after rooting, I then was able to start normally, and of course before installing I wiped all caches and system stuff in clockwordmod that I was able to. I was then able to reflash my other backups just as normal and everything was like nothing had went wrong. But I had the exact same problem to begin with.
The problem is the SD card gets corrupt from various things. I had the problem and with the help of a dev got it fixed. All I did was a slow format and complete repartition of the SD card. Also learned a few things from him too. One thing was that instead of mounting the card to my computer to copy files to it that I should just use adb push instead. Makes life a whole lot easier too.
I tried to install starburst rom on my brand new epic 4g touch. I wiped the cache and system and everything and saved the zip file on my external sd card but when i went to flash it in clockwork it is not there. I am thinking that it is only showing the internal storage. Is there any way to access my external data form clockwork?!
Is it in advanced ยป mounts?
Sry for thr un definite answer
Its been a while since i rooted

Your best bet is to run a tar file thru Odin and then place the zip on your internal. Basically I am saying flash another rom thru odin and start over
Edit
Also always do a backup!

Flash the stock eg30 tar through odin. A phone is not a brick if u can get into recovery/download mode.

Should be an option to mount USB storage in CWM so you can copy files directly from your computer to the internal SD
depending on which version of clockwork your running.
for me going to mounts and storage menu and selecting mount /sdcard worked.
Would any of you happen to know then where i might be able to get a .tar of starburst ive been searching to no avail hoping that my phone isnt an expensive paper weight
My problem is that I already wiped the system data and dalvic cache thinking i would be able to flash the rom so there is nothing for the phone to boot into.
What they're saying is to boot into download mode and flash a full stock ROM via Odin so that you can transfer the file to your internal storage. Its an extra step but shouldn't take much more than 1/2 hour.
Upgrade to CWM 5.0.2.3 and you'll get the option to install zip from internal/external media.
I am having issues mounting my external sd card in clockworkmod after I made a nano backup. It appears that the touch is also not working. I am on clear rom 4.5. Any help would be great.

I literally just hit the exact same issue. The phone, PC, and CWM all recognized and could mount the Ext SD, then I told CWM to backup to External SD....
Now I can't mount or read my SD from the PC, Phone, or CWM....
I've read a few forums claiming that this process reformats the SD to Fat32, but even then, it should be able to read it through at least ONE of those three mediums...
Any luck finding a solution?
Looks like i have ran into the same problem as well..
I Was running jedi 14, i decided to flash the new jedi 16. booted in cwm, format x2, flash jedi... wipe cache...... and then it boots me back into cwm. If i try to restore it wont mount the sd card. But it allows me to access jedi 16 and even run the aroma installer.. very weird
