[KANG][CM7] Unofficial/Unsupported - Nexus S 4G Android Development

I also want to let you guys know that I personally flash these ROMS before posting them to make sure they are safe. With that being said, you flash them at your own risk...
*Disclaimer: These builds are in no way meant to replace the nightly builds, just to bridge the gap when the bot isnt building. I am not a dev, and these are not approved by our CM guy. You may post bugs with these builds, in THIS thread only. They will not be addressed, but noted. If you flash these builds, do not post in nemith's "official" thread anything concerning these build's.
OK, lets try this again I deleted the other thread because I didnt want it to be a source of drama for us NS4G owners. Everyone seems to get along here, so far lol. I will build whats in the repo, the chances of things being broken are pretty high. I was fixing things in the previous builds, I wont be doing that this time, these will be straight off the CM git. So, with that here is todays build...only thing Ive found wrong with this is the 4g toggle, of course...

I would like to see this thread locked, BUT keep the OP updated daily/whenever you update. There is no reason to discuss bugs or things since this is an unofficial build that will change nightly. This thread should just be info and the download imho
Just my .02 anyway.

I disagree, keep it open. Not so much a place to discuss the bugs as it is just to post them so people now what to expect. If a build doesnt boot, etc, I would rather someone else find that out and post it. That way 20 people dont have to boot to a very broken or non functional build.
Not to mention every single CM device has a "kang" build thread, that is also left unlocked.

I would have no problem with that. I dont think I can edit the OP if its locked though. And there wont necessarily be a build every day. Just under these circumstances, i.e. no build for 4 or 5 days and tons of new commits. Not saying its a common occurance, but it is known to happen.

Fair enough, didnt think of it that way

I myself would like to see it stay open. Mikey has done alot for NS4G users and takes time to help others figure out when the help is needed. Whats it going to hurt having this thread, for the users who relate. It's just my opinion as well.

Woohoo. Good to see it open Mikey.
. . NS4G . . CM7 . .

I didn't really think of the not booting / lots of issues / things like that. I know mikey just mentioned something about keeping drama down and I thought it might have been a good idea. Obviously 2 sides to every thought process though. Its one of the reasons I love this forum

Seriously, this is the best section I've seen here at xda. I want it to stay that way. The reason I closed the other thread is because there was concern these builds and this thread would cause issues for nemith in the "official" thread. I don't think that will be the case and ask that everyone do their part to make sure we keep them seperate. Thanks so much guys
So, the build posted is legit. No issues that I've seen. Can't wait for working 4g toggle...

Will do, for sure. Trying to get mbh8787 set up to build too.

I think I got it lol, it built sucessfully but have yet to flash it. Gonna see here in a bit.

Mikey, I think you did this right. Thanks for all you do.

My alarm clock turned itself off twice last night with this rom. That, or I had one weird dream.

Having technical difficulties, if someone else wants to post a build, feel free. Just make sure you dont change anything, and that its not gonna brick anyone You can PM me a link to add to the OP, or post it and I will copy it to the OP along with the name of the builder. This goes for anyone....

i would cept in an act of stupid i wiped my repo out.. syncing again......

The first rule of CM is NOT TO ASK! It will come when it comes.
Besides the camera and wifi wont work until HTC releases the drivers for them or someone writes new drivers for them. Both of which wont be any time soon.

Undetermined; just shows all the changes made to the rom. It'll be released when its done...just have to check it periodically. You'll know when, because it'll be all over xda.
Not asking for a release date just info about the Rom, and more than anything whether or not there will be an open beta. The camera and WiFi are non issue with me and hell we had broken WiMax and hw004 camera issues for almost 8 months with 7, but there were still nightlies.
Wth am I looking at on that post lol. I was dur when I saw all that. Is that a change log of the future lol.

Ics is cm9 for evo 4g pretty much if you think about it.

CM9 will come when it comes. There are plenty of 4.0.1/4.0.3 builds in the dev area to hold you over and many of these development are working from/with/are part of the CM9 code. If you were in Fight Club would you talk about Fight Club? DON'T ASK, DON'T WONDER...if anything it makes devs irritated that people are violating the imposed rules.

I think we all want to know when CM9 will come out... but if you do at least a little searching you will know that they are not updating with progress. CM devs don't really like to be bugged about progress. Like someone else said, first rule is not to ask lol.
Yeah, but the rule is "Don't ask for an ETA.". OP said very clearly in his post that he's not looking for a date. I believe he was hoping to read about some of the progress, at least thats how I read it. Also comparing Cyanogenmod with Fight Club is not really a fair comparison as Cyanogenmod doesn't hide and ask that no one tell anyone about the CM builds. Besides all that, this post was answered with a link to the progress page in the third post.

I'm also curious about the current state of CM9 for the EVO, mostly so that I can know if it's worth the effort to attempt to build myself or not. I'm surprised I haven't seen any CM9 kangs floating around.
People need to chill the **** out on the "don't ask for ETAs" thing. People get curious, relax. Zero news makes it seem like a project or a device is abandoned. A weekly or monthly "still working on it" update is totally acceptable, but when the last we heard about anything was months and months ago, we get antsy. I know nobody owes me anything. But if you want me to give a ****, don't be a big crybaby when we wonder what you're doing. It only means that we like what you do, don't bite the hand that (kind of) feeds you.
This message is not directed at anyone in particular; mostly the zealot followers who like to regurgitate "the rules."

Ricardo Cerqueira porting CM9 to the Nitro

Ricardo Cerqueira is porting the CM9 to the Nitro!!! It seems that he has done a lot of progress, and judging from the screenshots, it doesn't seem like it will take much longer.

Thank you for your post. but most of us have known about this for awhile.
My concern is that it appears nobody has heard from him on any sort of update since Feb 25th.
He stopped posting anything public at all about anything on march 1st.
I figure another week or so and I'll give up on the idea that we are getting cm9 and will wait for the ics push from lg sometime in q2.
I'm certain he'll post something when he has something. And what he, kernal, bytecode, and everyone else is doing is simply awesome. I thank all of you for the work that you have done.
Well, I feel like since he owns the phone it shouldn't be too long.
I know I'd be motivated to get it finished if I knew how to do it!
Epyoch,
He went to MWC. Nothing has happened this last week due to that. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more updates soon.
Where does this guy usually post at to show progress? Or where was this original thread he created? Any links?

You can also look at his commits to github - https://github.com/rmcc. He has been doing things, but nothing specific for the 930 has been committed to github that I can see...
He's getting near 100 replies for everything Nitro related too. It might be a bit overwhelming. Can't wait for that CWM too.
He's also the only dev working on an ICS ROM for the P930.

Which excites me and saddens me. I'm hoping that what is happening here is that devs are waiting for ics for this phone either through arcee or through lg themselves. They will then use that as a basis for porting a rom. I'm learning how it's done and hope to have a Rom. But I don't really want to start anything until ICS.

Weekly ICS Update W/C 14/04/12

Ok, my post last week was a feeler to see if anyone would be interested in having such a thread. So lets try this for real! But I will need your help community!!
What this thread is to consolidate our experiences with ics roms related to our t989 , in no way is this a discussion board or Q&A this is purely info on what
is happening
whats working
whats not
what is worth flashing to
bugs
fixes/temp fixes
can it be used as a DD
battery life
I think this covers all the essentials, now I will make a new thread every week as to avoid congestion or if not continue posts and state w/c on post..
Now most would have or not flashed to the same rom now I don't need everyone to post about the same rom and give the same feedback unless if there is something that no one else has wrote (so read up everyone!). This thread is only a short term thing as ics is still new and fresh until consistent roms are made available we can keep tabs here on whats happening in the t989/ics world.
Cheers.

I think you should list and organize things as people post information and instead of making a new thread every week, update this one. In addition providing a link to the corresponding ROM.
I'm sorry if I haven't done the appropriate research but what's the current status with ICS.
I looked over in the development and it looked like there were a few builds. What are the big differences between all of them? Any more stable than the others?
Thanks

Well we need a kernel source for the T989 period. And that Should fix the biggest issue ICS has on our phone which is the Backwards auto rotate which effects the screen display pictures and whatever else is mapped to the Gyroscope.
Second biggest issue that is reported, but I have not had would be the voice echo in phone calls,I have not had this but some say you can cancel the noise reduction setting and it fixs it but I can not confirm that.
This is reported repeatedly in every thread so maybe that can be highlighted so people stop reporting it.
I hope this helps somebody
bty any AOSP or MIUI rom are not recommended for daily use. I am just saying this cause I seen somebody in Ravers AOSP thread just buy and T989 and wanted to use that rom as a dd and it is not.

Anyone want to test my rom?

hey guys, i just modified the liquid smooth rom cause i was bored.
all credits go to the liquid team...i really didnt do anything hard, and i dont consider myself to be a real developer now.
just wondering if anyone wants to test it out to see if it works, and give some feedback.
http://www.mediafire.com/?zj1dfa69nmyewzn
Changes made:
-removal/replacement of a few apps
-build.prop changes
-changes to updater-script
-changed boot animation
Like I said, I didn't make this to make a more optimized version of liquid smooth. It's more of an experiment/attempt to learn a bit.
Thanks.
btw gapps arent included.

im not really trying to promote it to everyone. i just did this as an experiment, and i just want to know if its booting ok, not force closing apps, etc. so that i know whether or not to change something.
How about you test it out yourself before asking others to risk trying it. Just a simple piece of advice.

Feedback:
Who'd want to "Test" a rom from a non-developer, when there are many that are from DEVELOPERS, not to mention the Liquid Smooth was developed by a full team. This to me infers that you are better than a team? Oh well, if you want to try peeps, go for it, but remember, it was done by someone who says he was not a developer.
like getting on a bus with a legally blind driver!
I have no understanding why anyone would!....... and "TEST"? OMG

i clearly said in my original post, that i take no credit for this, and that all credit goes to the liquid smooth team.
By test i didnt mean to go through the whole rom and check if every single thing works. Im just asking that you flash it
and let me know if it boots fine and doenst have any major issues.
like i said, im not trying to promote this as the best rom for the s3 that everyone should start using.
no need to get all pissed...it was just a simple question. If you dont want to try it, why even post?
i understand your concern guys, but blind development happens all around XDA. if this guy today had a "Recognized Developer" tag, i bet many of you would try it out. don't underestimate the OP.
that said, make sure you do understand that there is a risk since this is a blind development, although i doubt anything would go wrong since this is just something the OP took from an already working ROM for the TMO Galaxy S III and tweaked it a bit...

Thanks. Like you said I doubt flashing this would cause any harm. All I really did was change a couple apps and replace some pics in systemui and frameworkres.
Just make a nandroid, flash the rom, let me know if it installs/boots properly, and then just restore your nandroid.
My apologies go out to the op. He did make an effort to further improve an already outstanding rom and asking for testers is KEY. It's a great start for experimenting while increasing your knowledge on the more advanced aspects of android. Will give this a try once my S3 is fully charged!

Considering that its possible to modify firmware images and inject custom malicious code, I don't see anything wrong with questioning someone's motives for putting up a ROM that they admit they don't even remember what changes were done to it. I can understand if you think you've improved upon something but without a change log or anything there isn't really any reason to test it. Being cautious is not the same as being an ass.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][CM12.1][5.1.1][ALPHA][KIWI][2/1/2016 security]

Preface:Lots of great developers have been bringing Cyanogenmod to the Honor 5X, but no one has posted any experimental builds for people to flash. Since I have been able to build CM with the sources other developers have kindly created, I would like to share builds for others to try out on their devices without having to setup an Android build environment.
I would like to clarify a few things:
These builds are UNOFFICIAL and may not be daily driver material.
I just build these ROMs from sources OTHER developers create. See credits below for developer list.
I cannot provide ETAs for the next build, new features, or anything else.
I have only tested these builds on KIW-24, so other variants might not support this ROM.
You are solely responsible for flashing this ROM along with any damage that might result from said flash. See the disclamer.
See post 1 for install instructions and downloads
See post 2 for screenshots and changelogs
Disclaimer: Voided warranties, bricked devices, rogue alarms at 2AM etc. are all your own problem. Neither any developer nor XDA is responsible for any unpleasantness that may result from using this ROM.

And anyone else I might have missed. Let me know if I should add someone else to the credits.
To flash this ROM you need to:
Unlock bootloader and install TWRP
Boot into TWRP, perform wipe, and then flash ROM .zip and optional gapps *NOTE* non kiw-24 users see this post for information on flashing.
Reboot, and enjoy CM on the Honor 5X
Unofficial ROM Downloads:
3-10-16 - REMOVED by OP
Optional Gapps Downloads:
http://opengapps.org/ (ARM64, 5.1.1, Full)
Changelog:
3-10-16 - Initial build. (Tested) working features; wifi, BT, (some) data/LTE, normal phone features.
Known bugs:
No rear camera
No fingerprint sensor
No extra kernel features like Tap To Wake
Some cellular/data features may not work. I can't test this so check posts below to see if someone else can confirm.

I didn't mean to imply that other devs where in anyway at fault for no posted builds. I understand the desire to focus on fixing bugs rather than maintaining builds, but there a lot of people, myself included, that don't mind running buggy builds if we can get a taste of CM.
By the way, do you want me to add you to the credits?

My deal is this... I also have builds of BrokenOs (my rom) for this device but i havent posted any for public use, for one reason...Respect... @crpalmer is doing 95% of the legwork for this device over there at CM and Im sure once hes ready and comfortable with where it is, he will announce builds somewhere for it....I think its both premature, and kinda crappy, to make public someones work before even they think its ready for public use.... My 2 cents... Oh, and i dont care about credit for anything..Im just a rom dev, i get enough for that....

Thanks for your input. I certainly do respect @crpalmer along with all the other devs who have worked on this device, and I in no way want to detract from the fame/glory/respect they are due for all their hard work.
@crpalmer or any other dev, if you want me to remove this thread or change it in any way, please let me know. I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I was only trying to help others get a early taste of CM so they didn't have to build it themselves.
Appreciate the credit but I just fetch coffee and hound Huawei when necessary for devs doing actual work.
No harm removing me from the credits.
Thnx to all the devs trying real hard to get these awesome roms on our device.... Really appreciated

Thank you @Bandit Development for the build. While I understand where @InkSlinger420 is coming from I much prefer the state of where @crpalmer has brough CM to over stock. I've been running this for about 4 hours. GPS works great, data and phone work great. Most importantly switching between apps doesn't draaaaaaaag.
Hopefully those responsible for the hard work on this rom will realize this wasn't an attempt to grab the spotlight, but rather a way to placate the masses. Also, needed or not, there is valuable information even in the few early posts because not everyone uses their phones the same way, so one person may never run into a bug that another person sees frequently.
Fingers crossed, but perhaps this thread will also limit the number of posts in the [Dev] thread asking when etc.......... I know I filled it with build questions which probably didn't belong there either. However, I'm trying to learn a little about rom development and one of the first steps to that is to be able to build the rom so you can test your tweaks, or at least see how someone else's changes affect the phone.

It would take me approximately 30 seconds to add automatic nightly builds to my autobuild server (I already generate some builds every night).
Consider that and the fact that I haven't done so as an indication of whether or not I thought builds should be posted right now...

Wow, didn't realize you have a server dedicated to building. Because of this, I did not know that you wanted to wait to post builds. Would you like me to ask an admin to remove this thread? I sincerely don't want to mess with your work, plans, or anything else.

You don't need to remove the thread, I am just pointing out that I don't think that the build is at a level of quality that represents well the work of CyanogenMod.

Well, I'm happy to let you take over cooking builds if you'd like. I certainly don't claim to be able to make quality builds.
I would really appreciate any tips/info you'd like to share that would improve my builds. I've been trying to learn how to fix bugs and contribute to the ROM development, but the task seems to be a rather undocumented and slow-going.
