Can anyone make something like this for the Galaxy S II
Basically the little LED lit menu and back button will glow/flash on notifications such as missed calls, email, text etc.
Anyone think they can recreate this app but for the Galaxy S II. I really miss glancing over to see if I have a message.
NOLED may do that for ya.

If you want to drain the battery even faster that is
I've never experienced battery drains with NoLED, and I think it's a great, highly customizable app for this purpose. As said before, we'll have to wait for Neldar (or somebody else) to port BLN to the SGS II, since we need kernel support to control the backlight of the touch buttons.
He's not asking for NoLED, he's asking (and I'm with him) if it's possible to make an app which uses the captive touch LED. Nothing more nothing less.
Would love this option!

same here. I would pay a few $$ for such an app.
I'd definitly pay some bucks for that as well… noLED is no alternative for me.
We can ask this guy if he can do something

That has allready been done with the galaxy s i9000, called BLN =BackLightNotification, and it's done by Neldar. So lets be patient and hope it will be ported to our SGS 2 phones

Hello all,
we all know that SGS has no led to inform us about missed calls/sms. Does exist some application which can inform me when I have missed call or received sms by flashing 3 down buttons on SGS??? I know that some Nokia phones have it!
Thank you for help!

We all know it is possible and it's been done a long time ago. It's called BacklightNotification by Neldar, search for BLN in the Market, you need a ROM/Kernel which supports it, if it's not present the BLN app will tell you where to get it from.
After you get it, search for an app called Blinky in this sub forum, it makes the LED's flash when you receive any notification.
thank you for answer! Is it possible by this app also change the intensity of blinking? I mean like rising up/down
check out no led too it works great notifies u for almost anything enjoy.

As in when it pulses? Nope, it can only flash atm. The dev is working on the pulse one, there are certain CPU issues to deal with and we don't have the firmware which controls the backlights, so makes it more difficult. I'm doing some testing for him so hopefully soon
NoLED is good but he wasn't asking about that, still a good app.

yes, exactly like pulses. It would be great to have app like this! So, keep testing ;-)
I experience and read of the unreliable and slow blinking LED notification light.
In my case, it will work about 50% of the time. I am hoping somebody in this community is looking it over.
It would be nice if were more reliable and at least blink faster.
What application do you use to manage your notification light colors?

^ Install that. It takes a bit to customize just how you want it, but it runs flawlessly.
There's a free version floating around on the market, but it's well worth the $1-2 or whatever it is now.

Yep, this is what I use and it works very well. Set the blink rate to very fast (very nice rate), ans buy the full version, as you can set lights for social apps too.
I was looking at light flow but holy cow the permissions it wants gives me pause.
Is all that necessary?
Well, if others are saying they've used it for a bit it's likely ok. But I would assume it needs all the extra permissions because it needs to collect data from them to light the LED. Can't light the LED on a new SMS if you don't know there is a new SMS.

I am looking for reversed messaging app skins. white/gray/red (I don't care) text with BLACK backgrounds.

I use LightFlow also, but I have the blink rate set to Always On. According to the developer, this saves battery because code has to run every time it blinks. Not sure if this applies to the Galaxy Nexus.

Hello all,
I am creating this thread since we all at one point had a discussion regarding having some kind of notification alert on our phones the moment we achieve Unlock.
Well guess what, Xigzil aka MARTIN BÖRJESSON has an app on the market called LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications. I've installed this on the phone, and unfortunately, it does fully support the phone yet to work properly. I've reached to Xigzil and he will try to help and update his app so it will work with our phone but he will be needing our help. Since he does not have the phone, he will need things from us, so let's do our best to help Xigzil in achieving this.
For now, this will just be placeholder until he has decided to visit us here. Hopefully it won't be long
App has been UPDATED!! Nitro is now supported, download it here: LG Touch LED Notifications

UPDATE!!
So Xigzil has just updated his app!! It is now called LG Touch LED Notifications since it supports much much more LG phones, including our dear LG Nitro HD (P930)! I have not tried it just yet, just noticed that the update kicked in and that one of the supported phones is the Nitro. So go download it and give it a try and let us know how it is!
You can download it here: LG Touch LED Notifications
To Admin/Chris: Please move this thread to either General or Themes/Apps as it no longer pertains to a development effort. Thank you.
Hmm. Not sure whether I like it or not. I though maybe it'll be a fade in and out kind of effect but it just blinks. And all three buttons blink. Going to keel it for a while and see if its really useful.

I thought the same thing too. I guess it's kind of useful if I just have my phone on the table and I'm staring at something else, until it starts blinking and gains my attention. I do think however fade options would be fantastic, and if only one button would light up.
Maybe something like Gmail - Menu button
SMS - Home button
Other - Back button
Moved to general as asked. Don't forget, if you need me just send me a pm.

Liteon, to answer your question, I use this: Flashlight Notifier
It basically flashes the camera's LED when something triggers it. You can set it however you want, and the pattern on how the LED flashes too. It's very cool, but mind you, they flash really really bright, so in a dark area, expect people to jump out of their skin when this thing goes off lol!
I use both LG touch Notification and the Flashlight Notifier on this phone, so I can see the notification regardless of how you face your phone.

Best app to control LED settings other than LightFlow?
What's wrong with light flow?
i think right now the best light flow
Why is it that so many people on XDA either 1) reply with another question and no answer or 2) with a statement that is not an answer because they didn't really read/understand the OP.
I have not found any other apps, besides light flow, for controlling the led. Some custom ROMs (CM9/10) have built in led control

So, isn't wrong to reply with a question. This could help to get a more detailed context, in wich you can give better answers.

IMO: you should switch to a CM based ROM (or a ROM like e.g. "BAKED Black Bean" from user Travp) which has the CM hack included.
Then you don't have to use a third party app like LightFlow because the CM hack just works

lol I don't need it that specific, I mean things like charging, charged, missed call/sms/mms from general people, specific missed call/sms/mms for specific contacts, etc...
It can do all that? If it can I may switch because I am tired of Light Flow randomly not working then having to re-open it (yes accessibility is checked and yes run in foreground is checked)

No charging, charged, specific contacts/mms.
CM's implementation is limited to apps. So you select an app you want a notification for and the color and frequency of the light. That's it.

Not charging/charged lights... Or specific colors for calls/texts/emails from specific people. I could do without the contact specific option, but I love the charging lights. I have the wireless charging mod on my phone so I'm very, um, anal retentive, about making sure my charging setup is in good working order. I like to verify it with the lights. Plus, it's nice to know by a glance when your phone is full and good to go!
I wish I didn't have to use Lightflow, but CM just doesn't have the bells and whistles I prefer on that regard.
Thanks

Hi there,
is there a way to use the Menu and Back button on the bottom of the phone as a notification LED? Just let it blink if there is a notification in the system?
Greetings
Christian
I have tried several apps (BBS Notifications, ButtonLED) to accomplish this, unfortunately without any success.
The BBS Notification was able to control the button lights, however when the screen is off the lights do not work. Some phones do not allow the lights to go on, when the screen is off and as it seems S4 Mini is one of them. I also hope someone will find a solution for this, preferably one that will not cause too much battery drain.
Another option might be BLN mod. However, I read that the BLN modification in kernel might cause battery drain exactly because of the necessary changes in power management in order to allow the button light to work when the screen is off (the BLN mod for Mini does not exist yet as far as I know).
Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
hello
I think the BLN kernel solution is better than any noLED app or other.
So I am very interested in a BLN supporting kernel.
Were can a user as me ask for this or can see the progress in building such a BLN-supporting kernel?
Thanks
Tom
You can try noled it uses your screen led for notification but drains battery
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
As I wrote I this the BLN is much more better.
If you look at night on your superAMOLED screen while a noLED sign is there, the whole screen is lighter.
As far as I see this app (noLED) is not able to let our wonderful AMOLED screen totaly black but gives a little light on the whole screen.
So: were can a "new" user as me, with 2 years CM experiance at his Galasy S I can ask developers to create a BLN supportet kernel?
I dont want to post it in the wrong place here in XDAdev.
thanks !
