Here's the tmobile-tv.apk file from the MyTouch HD ROM. T-Mobile gives you a 30 day trial and 9.99 per month fee for premium access and i think free for the standard stuff. not sure what's what yet but i tried out a few channels and it works great!
Wow! Thanks! It is working great on my G2!

I believe it does an account check on initial use. it requires you to be on mobile data to start the app the first time, and then after you can stream via wifi if you want.
installed this on my hd2 running android 2.2. it installs, and when i open it, it gets stuck on the magenta t mobile tv opening page and nothing loads. anyone else get this problem?
Edit: got only blank screen when connected to 3g. connected thru wifi, then ran program, got past initial page, search for updates, do you want to start trial, clicked yes, and it said i must disable wifi on first run, so i clicked disable wifi, and then it gets stuck in loading screen. so i get nothing in 3g, in wifi, get somewhere but sent back to 3g. anyone else?
I was just coming to post this, but it looks like you beat me to it.
I just extracted it from the MyTouch ROM, installed it on my G2, and it's working perfectly. I have no intention of actually paying 10 bucks a month for it, but I'll keep it installed, see what content stays free after 30 days.
Awesome, I will deffinatly be using this today at work...

Actually, if you read the agreement, you can go to the HELP tab and unsubscribe from there. There is a checkbox that you uncheck to unsubscribe.
Hung on 3G so turned on wifi said to close wifi then just 'hangs" on 3G. So I rebooted and now just "hangs" on both 3G and/or Wifi.

If you're trying to change the account android syncs with, you need to create a new Gmail account. You may be able to do this from the browser on your phone even if not signed in.
No, I'm trying to erase any exsistance that my phone has of me having any app. Once you download a app its programmed in your linux through the app. I want to make it where no memory is of me ever being on a app

Ok.......two options.
1-flash or "root" your phone
2-Hard reset the device.
As far as any apps you've downloaded.....that's going to be a tough one since Mr Google keeps count of that through your Gmail account.
What is it that you are trying to do? Sell the phone?
You could actually create a second GMail account and login that way also.

Yes, I have actually got it to work a few times with a certain gapps file but when I reboot it goes into a boot loop and I have to restore a stable nandroid. Guess ill just wait until the first stable comes out and then give it another shot.

Yeah I think the 0120 was simply a newer version of gapps for froyo, which included the newer market and newer gmail/gmaps, but they were for froyo not gingerbread. Easily confused

If getting a GPS fix isn't a problem, the link provided by ac3theone won't help. That's for people who are getting very slow fixes or no fix at all.

I've seen a lot of people asking about something like this lately, so I thought I'd dig up its grave and share it here to. ... Some of you may remember this from the Eris and OG Inc forums as well.
This is a very simple script that utilizes the radiooptions command to disable the radio but still allow use of WiFi. I wanted to make it to be run in init.d on startup but haven't successfully got it working that way yet so for now it can be run with script manager. This script can be run as follows:
1. Download the script and place it somewhere on your SD Card. (Maybe make a folder named Scripts to keep things organized)
2. Download Script Manager from the market.
3. Open Script Manager and navigate to where you saved the script then select the script.
4. Check the options for run as root and if you always use wifi only because you don't have service on your device check off Run at boot as well.
5. When prompted by superuser allow superuser permissions.
I have tested this script on my Incredible and my Eris as well and should be universal to run on any android device.
Download Here
If you are using this on an inactive device and don't want the activation screen coming up after reboot and new ROM flash follow these simple steps.
*NOTE: you need to be using a ROM that has EPST.apk (Sense or stock based) in it for this procedure to work.
1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".

I honestly never tried gps with it on mine since I rarely even use it on my phone. I know it won't for navigation unless its tethered to your phone since nav requires a data connection. For location only, I would lean towards saying no, but I'd have to try it first to say for certain which I can't do atm since I don't have one of my inactive phones with me right now.

GPS does not require an Internet connection. There are apps available that store the map data locally on the device. I use one. The downside of offline GPS is you don't get live traffic, you have to manually update the maps, and satellite lock is much slower when it doesn't have the assistance of WiFi or cell tower triangulation.
On topic, I use Tasker to do this (and start GrooVe IP) automatically whenever I connect to a WiFi network.
This is awesome CS, thanks so much

Yes and no. You can only use the GPS when you're in range of a WiFi network. GPS requires a mobile connection to function, so it will only work in WiFi.

you are right when it comes to gmaps, but i think i have seen other navigators that can store info on the phone, like in a car, so you coukd download the map data once, then use nav anywhere without internet connection. i can't for the life of me remember the app name though

I wasn't referring Nav apps, just the GPS functionality. I'm pretty sure that it works workout any data or wifi because I use the app Endomondo to track my jogging routes and it works fine on my disconnected Inc2.
I'd love to get the extra battery savings from disabling the cell radio, but don't want Bork the GPS.
Also, if (god forbid) I break my newer phone, would I be able to Re enable the service to the food olé Inc2?
Thanks for your help
