[Q] your breaking up - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, new to all this and been searching for my issue and haven't seen it anywhere. Allmost all my calls everyone says your breaking up, using handset, headset and bluetooth it does not matter. Just got done rooting and was looking at roms. just wondering if anyone has had this issue and what rom and or kernal might help.

I would like some info on this too. Anyone?

Hmmmmm. I think the first thing I would try would be to do *228 Option 1 to make sure your phone is programmed correctly. This will also update roaming towers.
Good luck!

thanks, did that and issue is still there. It seems as if its working in like one way mode. Was just talking to my friend and if he is talking I either break up or he doesn't hear me at all. The wind was hitting his mic and he thought I had dropped. It's making me and everyone crazy. LOL

I don't know that ROMs or kernels will help. Upgrading your radio, however, might. It's one of the more likely-to-brick-your-phone parts of modding, but it's also very straightforward. If you do go ahead and flash a new radio (I've flashed several, and had the best experience with the leaked 2.15.10.05.06 radio, but your mileage may vary), remember to always check the MD5s and have sufficient battery.
Your problem, however, may be a hardware problem, if your signal is good and you're still having problems.
One thing you might try if you're still using a Sense ROM: Enable EVRC-B
A word of caution: if you set EVRC-B and you are in or venture into an area where B isn't yet supported, you won't be able to place a call. You can switch it back if you're using a Sense ROM, but won't have the option if you're using a vanilla ROM.

Flashing a Radio
There are links to download various radios from the CM7 wiki.
2.15.10.05.06 Radio
For the record, you can just copy the PB31IMG.zip file to the root of your microsd via a card reader or mounting your card over USB in the phone, but ensure you check the MD5 after it's copied over before flashing. Good luck and be careful.

Thanks, will read some more and see about doing radio. Kinda nervous about that one seeing how everyone seems to be very cautious about it.

As long as you check your md5 sum and have a good charge there's really nothing to worry about.

I concur... flash that *****.

hmm
hey all, been a bit loaded rom. skyraider 4.1 and tried the radio but bootloader won't recognize pb zip. Any ideas?

Make sure its named exactly PB31IMG.zip and that your SD card is fat32. Also ensure its on the root of your SD card.

Dinc radio boost?

Has anyone figured out how to juice up the radio? Much like overclocking the CPU, but with the radio to improve up and down signal.
Willing to run any experimental programming on my phone if anyone has something to try out.
I'm not worried about bricking my phone, as that's already happened and I've brought it back to life again, so gimme all you've got!!!

Haven't ever seen anything like that, no.
.......and FYI if you're still using it, it wasn't "bricked"
Other
You could always try the other released radios. The 11.xx has been scoring some pretty "oh my goodness, how fast can I uninstall this thing" ratings, but the 9.xx may do you some good. On all radios, YMMV; and be VERY VERY careful when flashing.
When it bricked it was stuck in an infinite boot loop, then after a few tries, wouldnt go further than hboot. I got lucky and found a way to restore an old rom I saved to my PC with the sdcard. I'm just glad I could still get it to run clockwork recovery.

Bricked actually means that you can't power it on its 100% unresponsive.

Interestingly, the 11.x radio increased my battery life about 20% (no major impact on my reception, if anything it seemed to have cost me a dB or two) compared to the 7.x radio. Tried the 9.x for a few days; cost me nearly half my battery life and caused the phone to run above 100F just for surfing the web.
It's DEFINITELY a YMMV situation.

Your phone wasn't even remotely close to being bricked. That would be kind of like saying a dislocated shoulder is total paralysis.
A bricked phone is one that can't do anything at all and is completely unrecoverable. A basic rule of thumb is that if you can get to the bootloader, the phone is in no way bricked.

When did this go from radios to bricks? I get it, I didn't brick it. (2 point for numbnuts)
Where do I go to get other radio versions, and which ones don't play nicely with Dinc?

Search for the radio thread in the dev section.

Flashing radios is the number one way to brick your phone; basically, be careful and check MD5 sums.

Grr
I wish VZW would just release an official updated radio already.
As much as it ticked me off that some guy declared his own thread to be the new official thread, I think this has the links:

You can also get all Radios except the 11.xx radio here:

[Q] Flashed Same Radio Twice, now bricked

I recently rooted my incredible 2 successfully and got CM7 on with no problem. I was trying to install a new splash screen, but accidentally installed my existing radio (1.09.01.0722) instead. Now I can't get any wireless signal or dial *228. I've tried different radios, but none of them work now. Any ideas?
thanks
You're able to still use the phone, but you don't get any data or anything?

It's not bricked if you can turn in on.....
Did you remove the radio file after you flashed?
Had same issue on build 109 I placed a call and it fixed it. Yes placed a call with no 3g or 1x and no baseband showing in software. 3g then showed up and baseband updated.

Try reflashing your original stock ROM and everything... Do the Ruu if nothing else works.. you'll lose root, but your phone will most likely work again... Then if you really want to, reroot.

This is what I was about to say. seems like your only option and hope it fixes it.
I always thought that the flashing your Radio twice thing was just a rumor cause I can never find any answer as to why this would brick your device.
guess it doesn't care it just does!
Hope you can get an insurance replacement being rooted. Verizon wouldn't even cover my week old battery that was bad from the factory and wouldnt take a complete charge because the VZW dip behind the counter noticed the custom boot screen and started asking questions. guess I should have hidden my mods!
I really wish you guys would look up the definition of "brick" if you don't understand what a BRICK is. please refer:
Bricked
Bricked refers to ANY hardware that is unable to start up due to bad software; Usually because of a bad software flash, a modification done improperly, loss of necessary files, being overheated from overclocking or overuse if the item is a lemon, a short-circuiting, or a Trojan that deletes necessary files for a few examples.
The noob bricked his PSP because he took out the battery while running a firmware update.

Thanks for all the help. I tried switching to a different rom and that worked. I'm afraid to go back to CM7, but MIUI works just fine, so I'm sticking with it.

On multiple roms ringtone plays

On multiple roms I have a bug where my phone plays a ringtone or something over and over again and won't stop! All I can do is turn ringtone down. Does anyone have this problem
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA
Never heard of that problem before. It couldn't be kernel or radio issue. Have you considered flashing stock RUU?

The only cause that I can think of is either by specific applications installed or hardware issue (unlikely). I can't think of anything else. By the way, try format everything, including the SD card. Just guessing.

My mobile network doesn't working

My phone network doesn't working anymore
It starts a few days earlier
It always showing no connection
And when i flash a new ROM and it requires the phone tobe activated it won't activated
It keep saying error
What should i do?
Please help me
Sorry for my bad english

What ROM did you flash?
What network do you need CDMA or GSM?
Try reflashing the radio. if that doesn't work, then it might be the kernel/ROM. Is your backing of the phone on? Thats where the antennae are. Just making sure
Mine did the same thing today. Luckily I had a backup of stock GB rooted. That's what I'm using now.

I thought this was a troll thread when I saw the title lol, but seriously you might have to flash a new radio.

[Q]

I have 2 Wind Mobile GS3's and when I put any custom rom on my fiancees S3 when I am on the phone with her in between the conversation all of a sudden I will hear a loud noise that I can only describe as a transformer transforming in the speaker..It seems to be fine when it is running the stock Touchwiz with Root injected into it but as soon as I rom it the sound comes back. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and was able to find a fix for it. Thanks for the help
What rom, kernel, and mods do you have on it?

Stockorama V2 with T-Mobile (Canada): Stock Kernel and no mods. I was using this as well and I never get the issues that my girlfriend is having. I am currently running Hyperdrive RLS14 with its stock T-Mobile Kernal and no mods and have no issues what so ever.
That's strange. Have you searched the rom thread to see if anyone else reported the same thing?
If they haven't, and you want to still use it, I'd backup and then wipe all data, including internal sd. Then flash the rom from a new download. Then test before adding anything back on.

I looked for anyone reporting issues like mine and I didnt find any. I wiped the phone entirely and was unable to get it to work without the voice being all messed up. I think I may have to just keep regular Stock Root on the device for now but the thing that confuses me is the fact that my device is fine and hers isnt..
It could be a minor defect in a certain part, or just due to "no two chips are truely equal".
It is quite odf. Hopefully someone else may have an idea, but you may want to look into warranty options.
Actually, you could try flashing a custom kernel such as ktoonsez. See if that helps.

I tried the ktoonsez kernal and it still did it..I also put it to just pure touchwiz with root and it was worse then before..I am looking into warrenty options now because this is beyond weird now. Thank you for all the help with this!!
That may be your best option, especially if its doing it all stock now too.
If you wanted to try one more thing, you could see if flashing an audio mod would help. (beats ir something like that)
Can't remember what's available for our phone, but check the sticky in Themes and Apps section and you should find a link in there.
