[Q] SD Card Apps - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I do a full wipe using ClockworkMod, are all the apps that I moved to my SD card also wiped?

Data wipe in clockwork wont wipe your SD card. I think you have to go into mounts and storage and specifically tell it.to wipe SD.

I don't necessarily want to wipe the whole SD card, just all the apps that I moved to my SD Card.

Not 100% sure on how to do that aside from manually uninstalling apps and deleting left over folders on your SD card. Might be some app that automates the process, I'm not really sure.

SD card space

When I went to copy a rom to my sdcard, it said my card was full. I figured it was because of old nandroid backups, so I deleted them, but the sd card space has actually gone down instead of freeing up space.
???
I'm baffled. Anyone know how to fix this?
What size sd card and where did you get it?
It is the one that came with my Incredible.

Is it possible to delete everything from my SD card and start new? It's saying there is 1.8gb total, but only 28mb available.
Or can I flash roms using my phone storage?

You can just format it (FAT32). Backup what you need. And maybe store stuff on the internal storage. You have to use the SD card for ROM's etc.

Want to format sd card

After flashing many (understatement) roms, my sd card has become cluttered and unorganized. Besides the obvious things that I should backup onto my comp (nandroid backups, titanium backups, personal files), are there any files or folders that "must" be on my sd card?
Or should I just backup everything and use the "erase sd card" option in the settings menu.

Click to collapse
Back up the stuff you want to keep and format it through the phone...it will place folders it needs on the card for you
Great, thanks for the reply!

beware partitions
I just wanted to add that I partitioned my 8GB card for kingdomEVOlution and I had to re-partition it to get the space back to use Synergy RC2

Where do apps go on the sd card when moved with cm7

.android_secure on the SD card, like normal. That is, unless you've installed the DarkTremor script.

no memory

I am having memory problems with my phone. I have moved every single possible app that i could to the sd card and used titanium backup to move even more on my rooted evo. My phone is running low on memory and the low memory logo is up. The only thing that I can find is that the data from my apps will free up memory. Why do apps that are on the sd card still save data to the phone? Please help.
I had this problem on a certain rom I ran. (Which will remain un-named), but a simple fresh install after wiping everything fixed it.
There is thread by Raper, how to partition SD card, you need to backup you rom to the PC partition the SD card, reload the rom, don't forget to wipe before reload rom.

[Q] Deleting old files from phone

Sometimes when I flash a new rom files disappear but they are still taking up memory. I used Es File explorer to find them and deleted them. I was able to find the files but it will say it cannot find the location so it cannot delete them.
They are mostly music files and .zip files from roms, is their any way to delete them or format my phone without having to having to reinstall a bunch of stuff?
This happens because the new rom you flashed created a new partition on your phone.
2 fixes.
1. Restore previous rom and delete the internal storage. Our move it to the external so card.
2. If you don't mind losing the data. Format your internal SD card (media) in CWM

If I format my internal SD card will the phone still work fine? I don't mind losing any apps/media/files etc.
Yeah if you format the internal SD card data/media it will clear the space the phone will still work, but app data will be lost.
