Please help fast my sd card says read only idk what to do im rooted with skyraiders rom i dont have my sd partitioned my recovery is ra 2.3.
What do i do?

Never mind I fixed it just incase anyone has this problem what I did was went into recovery and mounted to my PC in there at first nothing came up I was able to see what was on my sd but no problem came up I went to back everything up but didn't feel like waiting and while it was coping all my files I unmounted it and rebooted just to see if it would read it but it didn't so I went back into recovery and mounted it again but this time windows popped up with an error and an option to fix it so I did that then unmounted it rebooted and it worked hope anyone with this problem sees this and it helps I didn't lose any files either .

need help. sd card will not mount after installing skyra 2.2 sense

Hi everyone. Yesterday I updated radio to 2.0 and installed sky 2.2 sense version. Everything was working great for about 5 hours till I rebooted my phone to show some friends the boot animation because its sweet. Problem is after it rebooted the phone now will not mount the SD card. It says read only. So I said to myself no problem I've got a nandroid restore point saved so I can flash back but when I go into clockwork it says error no files found. I've tried to flash back to the 1.0 radio by pushing the files through adb shell but it keeps telling me in command prompt command path not recognized. So am I stuck on this Rom or can I get back to 2.1? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah I figured that's the case. Just weird because everything on this rom is still working great. I even formatted the card to fat 32 hoping for a difference but when the phone reboot and tries to mount it just returns the card back to the way it was before I formatted it. Any ideas guys before I through this thing in a pond lol.
^ throw lol please no trolls lmao
It is probably the same thing I am experiencing, which is that froyo doesn't like the SD card. I tried for days trying to get a froyo to work with it, but no luck. Finally stuck a 2gig stick in I had extra and it worked fine. There is nothing wrong w/my 16gb it just doesn't work on froyo (can revert back to previous build and it sees my 16GB just fine).
Wish there was a fix for it because losing quite a bit of space here.
I'll try a different card but the thing that sucks is I lost my nandroid restore point.

If it mounts the new sdcard can't you just copy that nandroid backup to the new card?
Not since it stores them on the card. I hope you backed up your files before formatting

I encountered a similar problem after flashing SkyRaider 2.2 Vanilla. I used one SD card (an 8gb) to install the ROM from and had all of my phone data files and media on my 16gb which I installed after SkyRaider booted and set up. I got a message that my card was corrupt (pretty sure that was the message) so I actually formatted it right on the phone, and it worked again. I did reformat FAT32 on my desktop before I loaded any files back onto the card. Since then its worked like a charm, no problems.

16GB
Man, wish my 16GB SD Card worked lol... It shows up with a question mark when I put it in the phone & doesn't offer any options to format (not even an "unmount sd card" option when it is in. It just doesn't even really see it. It still works fine on the 2.1 software when I revert back, just not anything froyo so far.
Same thing here. Doesn't even give me the option to format on the phone or mount unmount.

I second HTC_woe_is_me's (great nick, btw) situation. When I flashed SkyRaider I had the exact same problem. I wasn't even able to mount it to my PC. I ended up booting into Recovery, deleting the partitions on the sdcard using fdisk, and recreated it using vfat. No issues since.

Wrong forum i'd imagine, either way
Mount it from recovery, and on a win 7 machine (probably others but i dont know) you want to repair the disk without formatting it. This fixed it for me when i had similar trouble.

thanks i will give it a shot
This usually happens to me if I unplug the phone from the computer while in usb mode without using the eject disk feature in Windows 1st. Others have told me a few ways to fix it. The 1 above should work but you can also remove the card from the phone and connect it directly to phone and use check disk. Normally all I have to do is boot into RA recovery and toggle usb, wait a few seconds and then toggle back.
I had the same issue today. I just said fugg it and usked caulkins format all and then did the normal wipes and then flashed my rom again. I already had my apps backed up so it only took a bit to set the phone up. Weird thing is that I could still access SD card via disk drive on the phon.e The evo just couldnt see it thru the phone.

External media in unknown state?

My SD CARD recently has been giving me some issues. It has worked fine since I got the phone in Aug 2010. I went to access my pictures yesterday and as they started popping up, an SD card picture popped up and said please insert SD card. No pictures could be accessed. I went to phone and SD storage and it said my SD card was unmounted. I went to mount it when I saw this, pressed mount, started to mount and stopped all of a sudden. Now I have an icon of an SD card with a question mark in my taskbar. The message says" SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." When I go to reformat it, it gives me the message "external media in unknown state". Any ideas?

Because you need to give us more than 3 hours to help you. Being impatient and bumping your thread like this makes people NOT want to help you.
i wish someone could please help me with this issue because its also happening to me, it happend twice already on two different sd cards, i even took the sd card out and put it into my Samsung Epic but still it says the sd card is blank . please help
I used to get this message way back in June 2010 when I first bought my Evo. It happened exactly as you are describing. I thought my SD card was bad. So I moved all my contents to my PC, formatted the SD card, then moved the contents back. It may have been coincidence, but it helped, for a little while, and then the exact same problem returned.
All this happened before I had ever rooted. I then rooted my phone, installed a custom rom, and have never had the problem again, even though it was the exact same SD Card.
Are either of you who are having this problem currently rooted? Or are you both stock? If you are stock, you could try rooting, and installing the stock rom. If you aren't comfortable with that, then try formatting the card, and if you have a spare microSD try that just to troubleshoot it. If you get the same result with a different card that you know is good, that will narrow it down to being related to software on the phone.

I had a similar issue, I reformatted my memory card, and the problem has not returned. It has been seven months since then.
If you are formatting it on a mac, make sure that you set the partition type correctly to MBR (Master Boot Record)

HELP! sd card wont mount

well i flashed a kernel and didnt like it so i went into recovery and began flashing my nandroid backup. from there it was all going fine but stopped in the middle and said, oops something went wrong. after that i tried to get back into my sd to see if i had another backup. i then realized that my sd card was unmounted and i tried to mount it but to no avail. this is where i began to freak out because everything was wiped and the backup didnt work and i couldnt boot to anything except the bootloader and recovery. i finally got adb working and was able to flash cm9 directly to the phone so i have my phone working again YAY! so phone isnt brickd, maybe just sd card.
so is there anyway to try and recover my sd card to get my stuff back? i havent tried to format it yet because i want my pictures and all that :/ still need to get a card reader and try it in a pc
Captain Throwback has a thread about fixing the SD mount on the EVO if that is the problem. Have you tried a different card or tried your card in a different phone?

i havent had a chance to do either of those but i tried using the adb fastboot commands to makes the sd card recognized and mount again but it didnt work. gotta find another sd card or something or a card reader. any suggestions other than that?
Sorry but if the captain's thread didn't fix it than your card is most likely bad. I would try it in another device before trying to format it just in case. Maybe someone else will chime in with some other ideas.

Don't format it until you try it in a card reader. There's a chance the card is corrupted, but I've also had cards not read on my phone, at all, then pop it in a card reader, and Windows reads it without a problem
yeh i will definitely do that thanks. im really hoping it just glitched out and my phone isnt reading it and can save everything. no idea how it happened still. just restoring a nandroid backup and it said there was an error then no sd card :/
so got a card reader and popped it into the pc and it was all there now formatting the card to exFAT and going to see if it works
so its still saying there is no sd card... i know it works because it read on the computer fine. any ideas of why its not showing up in recovery or on my phone? and ideas how to fix?
I don't think the Evo can read exFAT. I'd go with FAT32.

cwm doesn't see sd card?

I have yet to run into this one.
I had to odin my epic.
When it was time to flash from my sd card, cwm didn't see it???
I tried mounting it, but it says there's nothing to mount.
When I boot up into stock, it see's it no problem......soooo now I have a sort of not really rooted phone.....LOL
anyone have any ideas on this....I tried formatting the card in the phone also....
and its the same card I've been using...
OK......I still don't know what caused it......however, CWM has a partitioning tool, no I never noticed it before, so I went there, repartitioned my sd card.....and now my phone sees it
Same gd problem, not terribly happy with reformat, but it's worth a shot.
