Thanks to samdroid, sdx, kuroyoma for the kernel and apothecaryaaron for testing.
Will this help the sprint intercept with the lag at all???? Already rooted with xane kernal and recovery

Wipe is recommended, but not necessary. As long as you didn't download a new launcher from the market, you'll be fine. And it'll help a lot with the lag, as long as you follow the overclock instructions. It defaults to 528mhz when stock is 800, so it needs adjusted.
How far can i overclock with this kernal? Sorry for all the questions just dont want to mess up the wifes phone

Have you tweaked the kernal. I follow sdx and it didnt spund like everything was working

Only problem with the kernel is it goes back to 800000 when the screen is off. It'll go back overclocked within 1 minute of screen coming back on.
Sorry i kinda understand. How far can i overclock?? I have my hero at 791. The g2 has an 800 meg processor and it can be clocked past 1g.

Stock recovery or is there a custom recovery for the Intercept? wouldn't know, just trying to get my girlfriends phone working better
Overclock goes to 1.06 ghz. Search for inxanes custom intercept recovery, it is needed to flash this.

How would you wipe? It's all over SDX-developers that a wipe may brick. I'm just curious on your recommendation for doing it.
While in custom recovery, go to file browser, then data, press menu and delete. It will delete all data files/folders except 1, which is a log file.
Anybody flash this yet??

Froyo came out...nobody cares about an eclair rom anymore.
Any word on a froyo rom for the virign mobile intercept? Or a way to install this custom rom on an intercept on virign?
Was gonna try this on my friends phone, I heard VM is gonna release Froyo for this handset soon anyway. Does the overclock actually stay 1.03ghz? We tried another kernel and it would stay at 1066mhz for a sec then throttle back down to 800mhz, eben on performance governor.
Virgin Mobile?
Will this work on just the Sprint Intercept or also the Virgin Mobile Intercept?
I overclocked my phone to 1.4GHz but it freezes soon after. 1GHz works fine. I followed the youtube vid from blackprince. Any help would be nice thanks

I dont think I quite understand your situation, are you rooted or not, according to this post you say you are stock besides "peraroot (I think you meant permroot)and the kernel" , so meaning you are rooted (s-off)??. Anyways if you are rooted why are you using gscript to OC with? And if your on a custom kernel why not use setcpu or something similar.
If your not rooted (s-on) then I think I remember when using the gsript files that 1.4 and over was unstable, if you want something a little higher than 1ghz use something like word pad to change the value in the script you are pushing for the oc to go to 1.1ghz or 1.2ghz etc..

From my experience, not all processors are created equal... Some just handle the higher frequencies better than others do.
I have loaded everything why not working download kernel should put first in phone should I do in computer
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yes I'm permarooted. S-off. I'm useing gscript because that's what was done in the video. I have setcpu and use it but with out a overclock program I can only raise it to 806MGz and with oc. I can raise it to 1017MGz. If that's as high as I can go then I guess I just have to deal with that.

As someone said earlier, I think you are using the old, unstable method. I highly recommend u updating to a ROM with OC embedded into the kernel.
It is also true that "not all processors are created equally" but this is the only case I have read with it freezing at 1.4.

I have the same problem ,i am running virtouos ROM with evil 12/10 and if i over-clock anything over 1094mhz my phone freezes the the only way that i can manage more than that is if i set it to performance scaling with no profile and there is no point on doing that because it eats the battery .its only good for benchmarking ,i think your problem is same is me, you have been unlucky with your CPU .i am just hoping its going to be different when gingerbread come out.

Have you given CM6.1 a go just to compare if you can clock higher using a different ROM?
If you are indeed using the gscript method then this has been explained many times! there's a whole giant humungo thread about that hack when it initially came out.
the reason your phone's freezing is because you're asking it to clock faster, but you arent giving it more juice to offset the additional work it's conducting..hence the freeze. that old hack (while it was awesome at the time) is very outdated and has been surpassed by actual performance kernels.
It's all in the thread. you wouldnt put low octane in a sports car would you? same principle lol

I have rooted my arc n it worked well.

But after a while .. Suddenly in the middle of a call .the phone turns off n reboot . It happened several times.
Any toughts.?

Do you overclock and undervolt?
That might be the reason.
I don't know what that's mean.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
which ROM do you use?
i think that i did something to the CPU.
because after i use set CPU the keeps rebooting after a while in the middle if the call.
i think it has something to do with overclocking .
any way to fix this . ?
it is really annoying
How much do you overclock?
Try to use less overclock, maybe your device can't handle it and gets unstable.

I have been using MIUI-GB as my DD after trying out many ROMs.
The free memory is an issue which i can manage easily with built-in app killer.
I was wondering how do i overclock my processor as there is no OC daemon or any other app in the ROM ??
download set cpu or similar app in market (i prefer set cpu you though) know that this will only work for you with certain kernels but chances are whatever one came with your miui version allows for overclocking/undervolting. if for some strange reason it dosent find a compatible kernel and flash it over your rom

I installed "CPU Control Lite" and oc'ed my phone to 1.2Ghz. It said you kernel does not support UV'ing. But after oc'ing, my phone is behaving strangely. Launcher is forcecrashing. While playing music, if a notification comes, the music app crashes. Is it because of oc'ing or rom issue???
Can't say for sure but if it started after overclocking than this is more than likely the cause. Try 1.0ghz
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Try setcpu, or cpu tuner. Just try. I use setcpu, ov until 2ghz
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
As dem' says, try 1gHz to start. You may find that stock speeds with a better governor makes it more responsive.
Also you should have to kill apps unless they are causing problems. When you say 'built in app killer' do you mean in the app management in settings or is it an app that came with the rom?

You can overclock CPU from boot menu, just like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK-NVgWWJ3E make sure you know what value set up before doing that!
There are tons of people saying SetVsel makes Defy+/MB526 reboot or freeze.
You need to have 2nd init and CWM on your phone.
go to bootmenu > system. Enable Overclock and Enable 'enable all modules' and SAVE.
SetVsel should work.and you can always overclock via CWM

Try these
[email protected]
[email protected]

However, the vsel value of the last clock is tricky. Some devices like mine can handle 1200 mhz @ 56 pretty well while others fail to. I even play fifa 12 and gta lll.

I've set the values as [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] running well but don't know why, when I was checking for 1350MHz my cell rebooted and all apps lost their data the XDA app and subway was uninstalled now while m trying to install them back its(play store) throwing an error "unknown error occured while installing the application (-24)"....
I also came to know that how to resolve this error by removing the old data of the app....even though I've removed app data, giving me the same error...
DO I NEED TO FACTORY RESET FOR IT?????
Not to discourage you, but overclocking is never fool proof or completely reliable
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 2
According to me it's foolproof as earlier when I try to overclock it again comes back to 1GHz but now its retaining that clock speed @1.25GHz....yes it costs some battery but nevertheless I got a good reborn Defy plus
Sent from my MB526 using xda app-developers app
Also regarding my last reply where I mentioned loss of application data....I've resolved it actually I've just removed data of those two apps from the sdcard folder not from system data....so after removing it..successfully installed those apps n see m posting from xda app

I used to overclock my defy through bootmenu by [email protected], and it runs just fine.
But know I just overclock it to [email protected] since 1350MHz heats up the phone too easily.
Crossing the value of 65 for vsel will warm ur phone....m on [email protected] it's okay just a little heat up...but runs great

Or you could use setvsel which is specifically an "Overclocking Undervolting Tool for Motorola Defy." No need to use an app made for a different device. Also, with SetVsel you have the option to "apply at boot", which I'm guessing the Milestone app does not have since you're stating that after reboot the overclock configuration is lost.
And then again, you can just do all this through the bootmenu. I use SetVsel together with the option "Limit to VSel 1 while screen is off" since, as far as I know, the Interactive governor does not limit the CPU speed while screen is off/during sleep (unlike Smartass), and every time I change the governor the phone reboots. This works for me and I'm overclocked at 1.1 ghz and still get about 2 days of battery life.
