Extracting a .zip from an RUU .exe??

I've searched and searched and cannot find where to get the .zip version of the rom??
I tried running the RUU and then copying the rom.zip from the temporary directory the install creates but when I try to flash it with the various recovery utils I get filename.zip (bad) ... what am I missing here where have I gone wrong??~!!
I have managed to root my Desire no problems .. but it's rooted to 1.15 an I originally had 1.19 on it .. I want to install the latest 1.21 rom but cannot work out how to get the .zip file I need for the flash.. :*(

[MOD] JMG recovery with sig check disabled.

Someone PM'ed me about this and I finely got around to doing it. I do not have
a Galaxy Tab and when I try to test it on my Vibrant I cannot navigate the menu
buttons are not mapped correctly.
I am fairly certain that it will work, just cant test to make sure. If it turns out
that it works anyone is welcome to use it and can even use my install script
which can be found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
if it does work you will not have to flash a modified kernel to use Clockwork.
just rename JMG_recovery to recovery and replace bin/recovery in the script
directory.
The attached file is not flashable!!!
it contains a modified JMG recovery an IDA disassembler database
file and a text file with the patch offsets and the patch data. and
is intended for testing and development purposes only.
Thank you!
Well, I tried that, or let me first explain to you what I tried.
I copied the supplied 'recovery' file, replacing the existing /system/bin/recovery .
Then I flashed RomManager's recovery. As this JMG is a EURO-based rom, and Rommanager does not support EURO ROM option for ClockWorkMod, I choosed Tmobile (which my tab is). Maybe this was the mistake.....???
Then I rebooted into recovery and it still shows Samsung Recovery 3e.
I was not sure what to do with the code you supplied and the installation process you offered - but the description was clear to only replace the recovery file, and that is what I did.
Did I miss something?
Thanks for your help anyway - let me know and I can test for you, anytime.
Hope I am not making a total fool of myself. I realized that you did not say anything about ClockWorkMod, but all the other recovery-image-replacements offer access to CWM so I assume this would to. I guess I was wrong.

once you are in the Samsung's recovery select reinstall packages if clockwork
works like on the Vibrant then the device will appear to reboot back into the
Samsung recovery if you get this far then the posted file works, if you select
reinstall packages again then clockwork should launch assuming you have
busybox installed and every thing else works like it does on the Vibrant.

Where will Clockwork recovery come from, from the recovery file that I copied into /system/bin ?
It does not seem to work for me

I guess it works.
I was not unable to flash GT-P1000-CSC-MULTI-OXXJK2 ## before, it would say "signature check failed".
I replaced the recovery in the bin folder and ran the script.
Now i am able to use above CSC file.

Thank You!
The code for the signature check is the same for all the Samsung devices I have
looked at, just the offsets are different. So once I find it I can do the mod in my
sleep.
I also just did an md5 check on the JMG and JME recovery and they are the same
so I bet this will work on most of the firmware versions out there.

the recovery I asked to be tested is the Samsung recovery, when you select
reinstall packages Samsung's recovery looks for a file on the SD card called
update.zip. When/if that file is found recovery then loads a public key file from
/res/keys which is in the kernel ram file system, this is why you need to flash a
modified kernel to use Clockwork because someone has to change the key to
the same one used to sign Clockwork. once the public key is loaded Samsung's
recovery check's the signature of update.zip. if the private key used to sign the
package does not match the public key loaded from /res/keys you get the
"signature check failed" message.
Clockwork recovery is the update.zip on the SD card.
the modification I made to Samsung's recovery disables signature checking and
will allow you to install unsigned packages.
i need this file cause everytime installing CSC always failed verification signature failed
but i don't understand how to use this file
can you give me explain tut details?

I'm actually using this patched 3e recovery in my custom initramfs now
(At this stage, I'm not interested in ClockWorkMod 3.0 recovery for my self-built kernel...I tried it a few times, but didn't find it useful)
3e bricked my tab lastnight, had to return it to tmo and play it off as a battery defect.
i only tried because clockworkmod gets me stuck at the last adb command step

[Q] problem with S-Off 2.2.1 PC49IMG.zip

Hi, I have a S-Off'd Wildfire (done with XTC-Clip) in version 2.2.1 and I asked a user from this forum how could I root. He answered me with this message:
Code:
hi poinu glad you managed S-off now you can put on any rom you want.
first you must get a custom recovery on your machine I use ClockworkMod 3.0.0.6
this should be fine to flash cyanogenmod7.
here is the file to it (http ://www . mediafire . com /?i09yp4r7odhlzws)
put this PC49IMG.zip on the root of your sd card. (not in a folder)
put the cyanogenmod update zip also on your sd card.
Reboot your phone into Hboot Mode by pressing Volume Down and Power.
It will now ask if you want to update the firmware select Volume Up for Yes.
wenn its done remove thePC49IMG.zip from your sd card.
Reboot your phone into Hboot Mode again.
it will look for the PC49IMG.zip again let that finish and ignore.
Then go with volume down to recovery and push power button, clockwordmod will start.
Do a wipe cache partition, wipe data/factory reset and under advanced wipe Dalvik cache.
go to install zip from sdcard / choose zip from sd card and choose your cyanogen mod update zip and install.
reboot wen finished don't worry if it takes some time first reboot always is slower.
hope i helped you enjoy your mod.
kind regards ab65
I've downloaded the PC49IMG.zip file and copied at the root next to the cm7.zip file (picture: http : //i55 . tinypic . com/ egai5s. png) but when I enter the HBOOT and looks for the PC49IMG.zip file, it finds nothing (and yes, the file is PC49IMG.zip not PC49IMG.zip.zip, I've already checked this )
I don`t know what I have done wrong (I have done nearly anything!) any ideas?
Thank you very much for having a look on the threat
here is what i suggest simply,
***** Ur memory card must be formatted with fat32 partition before doing this.......
go to this link and download the attached file at the bottom PC49IMG.ZIP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15
Since security flag is turned of (by xtc clip) , the recovery partition is no longer protected. U can install custom recovery without any exploits. That downloaded PC49IMG.ZIP file is nothing but "ClockworkMod Custom Recovery". Put it in the root of the memory card (fat32). Then go to hboot menu. It definately finds the file and prompts u to install. Go with it. At the end u will have custom recovery.
then u can install custom roms. Custom roms will be packed in zip files and can be installed from recovery menu. Its not needed to put the custom rom zip file only in the root of memory card. And the most important thing is, remember to clear data/factory reset and clear cache (both done frm recovery menu) before installing a custom rom. Thats all
Oh god, i didn`t know that.... succesfully done
but now... there's another problem, I installed the CyanogenMod7 and there are some things that I pretty dislike and I would like to install another ROM I have (it's a 2.2.1 rooted ROM) and I tried to do what I did to install the CM7 but when I installed it from the recovery this error message appeared:
"Installing update...
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted."
Is it really possible to root this ROM or do I have to stay in the CM7? :S
Any suggestion? Thank you very much for the support

CLockworkmod 3 is a must for the gingerbread CM7 roms.
And clockworkmod3 recovery will not support "amend - scripting"
What u need to do is, to install the CM7 custom rom. Then install "Rom Manager" from market. Then use a different version of clockworkmod (downgrade to 2.5 version or try different versions). Then reboot to recovery from Rom manager itself. Then try to install the 2.2.1 rooted rom. It should work. If u have any issues with installing custom roms, then try different version of clockworkmod recovery (from Rom Manager). That's all.

it surely worked, thank you very much

[Q] Flashing a radio- help needed

Hi all,
Today i was trying to flash the radio for my HTC wildfire
version: 13.55.55.2424H_3.35.20.10 (same as the one on my phone now)
What i have done:
1-renamed the radio to update.zip and put it on SD root
2- booted in recovery mode (CWM 4.0.1)
3- chosen install zip from sd card
but i got this message:
Installing update..
Amend scripting ( update.script) is no longer supported.
( some sentences including CWM 3 and ginger bread) don't remember them exactly
Installation aborted.
I rebooted phone and thanks to God it's working OK, communications OK.
What i have done wrong?
help will be appreciated
thanks in advance.
It needs Clockworkmod Recovery 2.x. So, you can get that from within ROM Manager App.
- Open ROM Manager
- Select Install Clockworkmod Recovery
- This will install v2.5.0.7 on your SDCard (It wont touch your v4.x)
- Then select Reboot into Recovery from within ROM Manager.
- This will start Clockworkmod 2.6.0.7, then flash the radio as normal.
Alternatively, get this attachment:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=662193&d=1311319218
Flash in in Clockworkmod 4.0.1, it will give you temporary 2.5.0.7, then proceed as normal.
Thanks a lot 3xeno
i have done the first on and it worked
but
when i installed the updat.zip
some lines was showed but it was very quick i couldn't read them
but the process took about 5 seconds or maybe less
is that normal??
how can i know that i have flashed the radio succefuly?
the phone is working OK.
Yes, its normal. When you follow the second procedure, it gives you temporary 2.5.0.7.
I hope you followed only one of the procedures though. (Either go via the ROM Manager App way, or go via the update1.zip way, not both)
When you flash a Radio, it says "The Radio will install on Reboot". Then, you select "Reboot System Now" in Clockworkmod, and it will reboot your phone, and it will state "Writing Radio Image". This process takes some time, after which your phone reboots again and starts normally. When this happens, you can be sure you have reflashed the radio properly.
i followed the first
i have reeboted into CWM 2.5 ( green color)
then i flash the update.zip by install zip from sd card
it shows quick lines
and i don't see this "The Radio will install on Reboot"
the back to recovery menu
i choose reboot system now
the phone reboot as normal without this "Writing Radio Image"
any thing am missing?
Don't flash the update.zip in Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 (Green Text). The update.zip is an alternative to be flashed in Clockworkmod 3.x/4.x (Orange text) which will reboot your system in Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7. (ie - It is to be used only if you didn't use the ROM Manager method. Since you have installed Clockworkmod 2.5 using ROM Manager, you can delete the update.zip, you no longer need it)
Once you get to Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7, Flash the Radio's Zip using the same procedure. (Install Zip from SDCard > Select Radio Zip file). To reiterate, theres no need for update.zip once you are in Clockworkmod 2.5
Thanks a million 3xeno
flashed the radio Successfully
what i was doing wrong that i have renamed the radio zip file to update.zip
method that i have done for anybody hwo wants to do that (thanks to 3xeno):
1- put the radio file as it is on SD root (don't change the name of zip file)
2- go to rom manger and choose flash clockworkmod recovery
3- from rom manger choose reboot into recovery
(will reboot in CWM 2.5) green text
4- choose install zip from sd card
5- press go back (back button won't work) go to the bottom of menu and you will find the ++back++
6- choose reboot system now and wait til it finish.
I don't think changing of filename from radio.zip to update.zip will affect installation of radio (as long as you haven't extracted the zip).
But what happened is (I guess) ---
You are changing the radio.zip to update.zip and kept it at the root of sdcard. Then if you open Rom manager and flash recovery, the update.zip related to radio will be overwritten by cwm2.x update.zip . And vice versa if you have flashed Rom manager cwm2.x first and then copied radio update.zip to root of sdcard.
So basically one of the needed things are missing ( = being overwritten) which interfere with the process. Anyway nice that you made it.

[q]Stock rom

Can some one suggest me where download and how installa the stock rom for wildfire.
Now I use a cynogen 7 and i want go back to original froyo + sense
There are 3 primary ways to do that:
1) If you had taken a Nandroid Backup before installing CM7, Just restore that. (But I am assuming you didn't, hence you are asking this)
2) If you want to retain root and Clockworkmod Recovery, just flash this ROM. Its Stock Froyo + Sense:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
The process to install that is as follows:
- Download this attachment and place on your SDCard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=662193&d=1311319218
- Flash in Clockworkmod 3.x or higher. This will give you temporary Clockworkmod 2.5 (Green Text)
- Then, perform a Data Wipe, and install the ROM Zip file as normal.
3) If you dont want to retain root and Clockworkmod
- Download the Froyo RUU from Shipped ROMs (Froyo WWE 2.22.405.1 EXE) from Shipped ROMs:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
- Connect Wildfire to the PC, and simply run it.
Hi, I'm back
Just 2 questions
I downloaded both files
i copied both files on sd then i started rom manager and tapped on first field to
Flask clockwork mod recovery
Then? what i have to do to revert to Clockworkmod 2.5?
i downloaded this file from the link Safe_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Rooted
is it true?

I can't understand what you mean by your first question at all. Clockworkmod Recovery flashed via ROM Manager is temporary. Your original Clockworkmod will remain untouched. So if you are using the option called Flash Clockworkmod Recovery in ROM Manager, then the next step is to select Reboot into Recovery from the ROM Manager App again, then flash the ROM File. In this case, you can discard the update1.zip file, as it has no significance.
As for your second question, mirrors of the EXE RUU can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680
My first question is simple
on my phone i have rom manager and there is a row named "Flask clockwork mod recovery"
but
i don't know how go back from cynogen to stock rom using clockwork mod recovery
can you help me step by step?
and the stock [with no root] rom for wildfire with froyo is this one?
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe (This RUU contains HBoot 1.01.0001)
i need only to connect the phone to pc and run the exe?
First, decide what you want to do - Flash the EXE RUU, or Flash the Safe Flash ZIP File. If you decide to flash the Safe ZIP file, you will keep Clockworkmod Recovery, which will allow you to flash stuff later. If you select the EXE RUU, Clockworkmod Recovery will be removed, so you will NOT be able to flash anything, like ROMs, Kernels etc.
Once you have decided, here are the steps:
1) If you decide to install the Safe Flash ZIP File
- Download the Safe Flash ZIP from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
Rooted / Unrooted, Its upto you which version you want. Rooted version has Superuser, so you can run apps like Titanium Backup etc. Unrooted doesnt have Superuser, so you cant run root apps.
- Place this file on your SDCard
- Now, open ROM Manager
- Select Flash Clockworkmod Recovery. Then make sure you select 2.5.0.7. NOT a version beginning with 3.x, 4.x or 5.x
- Once it is installed, in ROM Manager, the next option will be 'reboot into recovery'. Select that
- Once you select that, then you will be taken to Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 (Which has all its options in Green coloured Text). Here, select "Wipe Data / Factory Reset". This step will erase all data on your phone (Not on your SDcard, Just your phone data. This step is essential when changing ROMs)
- Lastly, select "Install Zip from SDCard", and then, select the ZIP file you placed on your card at the beginning of this step. Let it install. Once installed, Select "Reboot System Now", and let the phone reboot. Done
2) If you decide to run the EXE RUU
- Its pretty much 1 step. Connect the phone to your PC and run the EXE File. It will automatically perform the install. If you get an Error 131 - Customer ID Error, you will need to create a Goldcard. There's a guide for that here:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/

It will give you temporary 2.5.0.7, then you can flash the ROM. (It is temporary, so, everytime you want CWM 2.5.0.7, you will have to flash this Zip file)
