Just switched to G2 need some help - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Rooted my phone last night. Just need some help finding some stable Roms. I came from a mytouch 4g. I prefer something close to stock. Let me know the good daily drivers. Thanks in advance!

Firstly, welcome to the G2/DZ forums.
If your looking for a close to stock I recommend Virtuous G-Lite. It is based if the TMOUS gingerbread leak. It is very fast and very stable and is maintained by one of the G2's best dev's, RMK40

Thanks! I'll give it a try later tonight.

I reccommend CM7 latest nightlies. CM is close to stock with some minor add ons that let you customize the phone a little more. Plus extremely smooth and reliable with very impressive quadrant scores.

is it possible that when you say 'best CM7 rom out there' you really mean 'best gingerbread AOSP rom'?
CM7 would probably be the best gingerbread AOSP rom....
Best CM7? 7.0.3.1
Best AOSP? Either CM7 or Deck's ROM in my opinion.

What's with all of the sense roms and barley any gingerbread roms?

It seems like everyday there's more sense roms being made, I don't get what's so great about it? Its ugly, and hogs a lot of memory. Its hard to find a decent up to date gingebread rom

I felt that way at one point. But coredroid is now my favorite. Provides a lot of functionality that could be used more in other roms.
To each their own right...try learning how to build and make something yourself or at lest customize a rom you like
I'm trying but its hard to get help around here for that

When iceandfire or gingervillian updates their roms ill be happy but untill then :?

Not sure if you've tried, but RMK's Virtuous G-Lite is a stock(ish) GB ROM with which I am having zero issues with at the moment. I would say it's as close to AOSP as you can get with OC which just makes things better.
Since getting the DZ, i've only used RMK (and his teams) ROMs and i've loved each of them. G-Lite just comes out on top IMO.
Ehhh I like gingerbread and cyanogen mixes like xboarders and iceandfire and the like

.ud.com I think..just google "ultimate droid for tmobile g2" and you will get the site with the download. I believe 3.3.1 is the latest release

The ud site is down. But yeah, get it from the unlockr.com. I'm running it right now and its probably on par with pyromod. Id say a little faster.

why is it down? I was wondering why it wouldn't let me go to it.

TechNiqCality has run well for me after an initial try with Infamous. I find TechNiqCality to run better for my tastes. Less bloatware and I prefer the cosmetics better. Though I'm still running 1.2 until some issues get resolved with the newer releases.

CM9 stable is a excellent rom with the Darkside venom 6 kernel. Never had overheating issues. Very reliable rom imo
 cheers
sent from my T989 full of CM awesomeness and a touch of Venom from the Darkside!!
