Help plz. Inc brick? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok i ordered a relpacment Droid inc. I got it and before i decided to send in my old inc i went to unroot it. But after the phone shut off after running the first step of the unroot process my phone didnt reboot it just stayed on a black screen. i held the power button to try to turn it back on and all it did was vibrate. The phone still charges when plugged in so i know its not a TOTAL brick. But is there anything i can do to fix this. Also im running the new radio version but i have unrooted before with this radio.

Have you tried a battery pull? Sounds like you may have done power + vol up instead of vol down.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running CM7.0.3.

Yeah i did a battery pull. And when i do volume and down it vibrated but the screen stays black. I know its not my battery cause I can put my battery in my new inc and it starts up just fine. the process I used to unrest as I stated I've done many times. so I don't know what could've gone wrong.

[Q] Bricked Evo?

All,
I followed the steps to root my Evo by coming from 2.2 back to 2.1 in order to apply the unrEVOked method. Everything installed fine and I was able to boot into a custom ROM.
I then applied Manup's theme and my Evo continued booted to the splash screen and then stopped. Removed battery and inserted and now the phone won't even power on. Plug into wall and no charging indicator....does is sound like my Evo may be bricked? Also how could this be if the custom bootloader was available and allowed me to boot into recovery?
Does this sound like I'll need to have it replaced?

did you try and power up and hold down the down volume button to boot into recovery that way
Yes...that was the first thing I tried. Now the phone won't power on period whether I hold down the power by itself or with holding down the volume down button.
Even plugging it into the charger doesn't start the charging indicator
Had the same thing happen to me once. Plug into charger forvten minutes then try turning on. I can't explain whybthe chargevled didn't come on but mine came back on after it charged for awhile.

I'll let it charge for awhile and see if that fixes the problem
If the charging light does not come on when its plugged in. Attempt removing power, waiting a few seconds and plug it back in. You'll be wanting that light on.

In addition take out the battery for at least 30 seconds I did for a full minute, I had this exact thing happen removing all power sources seemed to help. Use the down arrow when powering on it should go into the bootloader. Also make sure you have a fully charged battery.
So I let it sit on the charger all night and still nothing.
I removed the power cable and plugged it back in with no results. I also removed the battery for 5 mins and put it back in....nothing.
I swapped batteries with a friennds evo that does have at least 50% charge....nothing.
I have the sam problem, what did you do to get it fixed
please respond
did you ever find a way to unbrick your evo because mine is bricked. i cant do anything with it. it wont accept a charge or even power on. i cant even get to the bootloader screen. and it has no charge light when plugged in to a power source. PLEASE HELP!!

[Q] Help!! Evo wont turn on

I have been rooted for a while and successfully flashed a few Roms/Kerenels using rom manager. I was flashing the newest version of Myn and one of the "warm" kernels that it offered with it. Everything was going normally the rom loaded fashed the rom and kerenel the phone was reseting then out of nowhere i got the image of the white box and android guy with an arrw as if to say "android taken out of box" I left it like that for about 5 min then took the batt out and tried to reset it. I got the same image then i tried vol. up & power it vibrated 3x and did nothing. My buddy had the same problem yesterday and he got it workin. I called him and he said all he did was pull batt/restart over and over till it booted normally. I tried that about 10x then it would not turn on again. Plugged it in, no response no led light up.
Am I bricked past the point of no return, and if not what can I do to get back in business
Stay calm, pull battery out for 5 minutes and then put it back in, then put charger in and see if LED comes on.
did that batt was out for about 20 min plugged it back in nothing
let phone charge 30 minutes
will do.. from what you know does this sound like a typical brick scenario? I feel like I didnt do anything different from all the other times I flashed roms/kerenels it just kinda flipped out on me this time?
it just happened to me, my phone wouldnt turn on or charge. Pull out battery for 1 minutre, (make sure phone isnt plugged in) out battery in, DONT PLUG IN CHARGER YET.
power phone on, once u see the white evo splashscreen, plug charger in and wait seconds and u will see LED turn on.
keep me updated
No mtter what I do or at least nothing ive tried I cannot get the Evo to respond by turning on or lighting up or doing anything
To get into bootloader, you need to press and hold vol *down* and power. Sometimes mine is finicky...be sure to firmly press those buttons, and keep them just as firmly held until you see the bootloader screen.
If that doesn't work, you might have a dead battery. Can you swap batteries with a friend?
I had this happen to me with my girls evo. Its usually related to overheating. Do you happen to have a second battery? If yu had an htc hero, they have same battery. Worked for me.

This happened to me while flashing the newest EViO. Don't worry, if your phone turns on a little youre most likely fine.

Never got it working or turned on but I took it to a Sprint tech center andt they gave me a new one... It would not power on even when they opened it up. they just replaced it.

Won't power on

Hey guys, I'm having a problem I thought you might be able to help me with.
I had my phone hooked to the charger. When I went back to it a few minutes later, the phone was powered off. There was also no charge LED lit either.
Now, I am not able to power the phone on at all. I get no LEDs when I plug it up.
I have tried taking the battery out several times. Has anyone else ran into this issue.
Also, I am not rooted, I am running on stock software.
You don't get the slash screen or anything?
Have you tried to get into recovery via adb?
We're you rooted / custom rom name?
You sound bricked
I do not get a splash screen or anything what so ever.
This phone has never been rooted. My original phone was, but after an issue with roaming and 3g I swapped it and decided not to root the new phone.
I have tried powering on with the volume button down, but still nothing. My pc does not recognize it at all when I plug it in either.
Also, I have tried 3 different charges and cables as well.
I had the same problems. I just weighted and mess with the power button and the battery. Steps that I did
1. hold the power button for like 5 second w/battery on phone
2. than while holding the p/button took the battery out and than put it back
I did this like 5 time, than it came on.I don't know what it was luck or what but it work for me. All of this happen before I rooted the phone.
Didn't work
Thanks for the input though.
It might just be dead. Maybe a power surge or something. idk.
Well, I finally got it working. It ended up being the battery. When it messed up, it was plugged into my g19 keyboard. This ended up completely draining my battery.
I swapped batteries with my friend to verify this. It than took over an hour to charge my battery to the point of the Orange led comming on.

I'm F****d!!! please help!

so my droid inc died on me at work the other day, im running cm7 build 36 or 37 i think and i cant get it to turn back on. no charging light when i plug it in either. like i get nothing from it! have pulled the battery numerous times.. tried with a known good battery with life in it and still nothing. i really need your guys' help!

Have you tried a different charger yet? Different outlet? If that doesn't work your charging port may have come loose.
yea ive tried but it wont let me do anything....
Same Boat
I am in the same boat. I was rooted but wanted to go back to stock. So I put the stock image on my sd card, installed it, and on the reboot its not doing anything.
Reminds me of when I attempted to flash a radio and got an "!" inside of a triangle. I pulled the battery and my poor Droid Eris was Bricked beyond (my) repair.
ok, so when you push the power button nothing happens... have you done a full battery pull? Happened to me during the nightlys once or twice i pulled batt and it rebooted

Steve, do you have a slcd? I'm betting you went back to the original stock which doesn't have a slcd driver. Search http://www.incredibleforum.com/ for an easy fix. There's an easy fix on there somewhere. I tried a 100 different things and nothing worked but finally got it. You should be able to boot into recovery if this is the case but I never could... I did get it fixed but don't remember exactly how.
bradatz is right. you could try to do a stock 2.2 ruu or a 2.2 PB31IMG.zip. the display driver for amoled is not compatible for slcd models.
see if this helps:

Bingo
Thanks guys for the heads up on the display situation. I do have SLCD, and my bet this is the issue. I will work on this tonight and report back.
See this is exactly why we have these communities. The power of many is greater than the power of one!

PS - Looks like this posting does the trick: http://dougpiston.com/?p=133
My first thought would be if the phone is off/dead, and it wont charge when you plug it in, it isn't software so much as either charger or socket issue. Since you said you tried various chargers and it didn't work... have you tried finding a different battery, with a charge, and see if it'll turn on? If that's the case, your MicroUSB port or internal circuitry is shot. Or the leads are soiled (make sure there's nothing in there... I had problems and found a lint ball from my pocket wedged itself in there. Make sure if you're digging in there you take the battery out just in case.
I guess if you need to replace it do so soon, Asurion is raising their deductible to $90 from $80.
Tapatalk Pro Sig. Yep, boring.
I made that mistake It's scary. Especially if you do it the 1st day you get your new phone
I rooted my droid and then thought I didn't do it right where some programs said it couldn't get root access, so I went to flash back stock. Dead screen
Following doupistons site helped me get back up and running.
If your phone vibrates when you turn it on after doing a battery pull, then it's probably an SLCD issue. If not, it's likely a battery issue.
You say you were running CM7 with no problems on the phone, the battery drained, the phone turned off, and now it wont charge or turn on?
You can take it to Verizon and have them check the battery for you as well.

Steve's is an easy SLCD issue. Downgrade, lost screen.
The OP's... well I have no idea but since it doesn't boot up and gets no charging led then I'd say it sounds like the phone is dead. Best of luck to him and I hope he's got insurance.
i tried a new battery an still nothing, i believe i am amoled, and its like when you hold the power button and the volume up button and it vibrates, then wont turn on til you pull the battery, except its like locked in safe mode so bad that it wont even let the phone charge. so its dead, and wont come out of safe mode, and wont charge. wtf. i just got a new phone so i dont have insurance on it anymore but wanted to sell it to make some of the money i spent back...

[Q] Rooted CM7 Incredible will not turn on or charge

First of all I'm new here so apologies if I'm asking a question that's been asked before.
My situation is this:
My girlfriend has an HTC Incredible. It's going on 18 months old. I rooted it a while back with unrevoked and loaded CM7 on it. It ran perfectly for quite a while. Lately, she's been experiencing a problem with random reboots, I'd say over the past month or so. She said it would reboot when she had it plugged in to her work PC so she can listen to Pandora and keep a charge. Last night in an attempt to stabilize it and prevent the reboots I loaded Go Launcher on it and made sure she didn't have an malicious apps. Well, today apparently while she was working and had it plugged in to her PC via USB it rebooted and got stuck at the HTC Incredible screen. So she pulled the battery. Since she pulled the battery, the phone will not come on. I've tried the power button plus the volume down, the power button plus the optical button, everything. The charge light won't even come on. So, any help from anyone would be much appreciated!

This may sound stupid but did she put the battery back in right?
Yeah, she did. I don't get it, I've googled the issue and I can't really find anyone having the same problem.
If you can't even get into hboot, it ain't good. Any way to try another battery just to rule it out?
power button + volume down + middle button is the ultimate reboot.
and yea I say try another battery -or- charge the same battery in an external charger and try it again. If not then something really weird happened to that phone..
I'm going to try a new battery tomorrow. Dumb question : Can a battery just die like that? I've always thought there would be warning signs.
The random reboots are the warning signs. My phone was randomly rebooting last month about twice a week then one day it rebooted as I stared at it six straight times. Apparently my battery (it was a Seido 1750) was known to flake out after a few months according to reviews on Amazon reviews. These reviews were posted after I had my extended battery for a few months so I was unaware. I switched to my stock battery and I have gone four weeks without an issue.
My seidio 3500 occasionally likes to discharge in an extremely rapid fashion. I hope I don't have to go back to my stock battery... Ever!
Happens to computers. Power supply starts to go bad and you begin to get phantom restarts. Then your PC is dead.

Tried a different sd card? Note that cm interacts with the sd card during boot.

Thanks for the help everyone. I finally tried a new battery. Doesn't work. The phone still will not charge. I'm at a total loss as to what to do. If nothing else works, I'm upgrading my Droid X to the Droid Prime (when it's released) and giving her my X. If anyone has any additional suggestions...it would be greatly appreciated.
I would throw that usb cable away...
If the cable is shorting out it can kill our phones because of the extra pins for TV out in the micro-usb port on Inc. +5dc on a video out line might have toasted it.
Just a thought.
good luck
