Rom testers! - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so i just made a ROM and i need a tester.... ANYBODY WANNA TEST MY ROM FOR ME PLEASE!? i dont own a slide anymore but i still wanna contribute as much as i can so i need someone to test this rom so i can post it

anyone??? please????

I'll test it for you!

I'll give it a try

If it isn't too bloated, I'd be happy to test.

I've been way too bored and I'm in the mood to try something new, so count me in as well =)

What sort of ROM is it? How is it different from others? Why would I want to use it?

Count me in as well. I would like a few details about it though.
Of course I could just install it and figure it out myself >.>

Ill test it

[ROM][TEST][SENSE]Stock/Deodexed/Zipaligned Stock ROM

Most of you guys probably only want AOSP, but for those of you with extra time on your hands and with nothing else to do I present to you my first ROM, built from Shipped ROM.
The ROM is completely zipaligned, deodexed, and most Verizon Bloatware apk.s are removed. If there are any remaining, please let me know in the comments.
This should be one of the fastest Stock ROMs available. I know other people may have created the same kind of ROM, but please, don't flame on me.
Of course, this ROM still runs Android 2.2.1, however I hope to update that in future test version, as well as AOSP.
I also must warn you, the file size is a gigantic 240MB. If all goes well with this test ROM, AOSP will be next

this not meant to flame at all, but since gingerbread is official and has been for awhile, why would you be working on froyo at all?
its not like gb was a leak that has random bugs and froyo is a better option

[Q] How to Port a ROM?

I was wondering if someone could give me a few basic tips on porting a rom. There arent very many roms for our phones but i would like to port a few that i like. (specifically from international GSII) Ill take any help, thanks
If you are looking to flash a rom, there are some detailed instructions in the Dev forum. In particular the thread for the Starburst rom. The first post has all the downloads you will need and there are some more detailed instructions on one of the posts from October 10th or 11th. Your device will of course need to be rooted in order for this to work.

Porting from international version is going to be really difficult due to the different radio's in it, and you would never get WiMax to work if you tried, even if you got it to boot up
my reccomendation would be to try grabbing a rom you like from another CDMA/WiMax Samsung device and try it, except the only one would be the Epic 4G, and the slideout keyboard orientation might ruin some stuff when porting....... so at this point, unfortunately, i dont think porting a rom is in anyones future for a little while at least til we get an AOSP kernel
cheers!

Dev inquiry (Rom Dev)

Anyone out there interested in bringing Myns 2.3 over to the inc2??? i spoke with MYN and he said if i knew any inc2 dev that would be interesting in porting it he would be all for it. I freakin loved his rom on my original Inc but unfortunately i have no dev skills or experience Hopefully someone out there will want to tackle this project. i think it would be a great rom for us. PM me if anyone is interested. thx
I'd like to see it as well but I also have no experience.

Coming from the Eris forums, now comfortable with porting on the dinc2... Do you have a link to the rom? I'll take a look at it and see what I can do. Been looking for a first rom port, this sounds like a good start...

Here you go! If you can pull this off you will be my HERO. also Myn is very cool and responds to any question no matter how dumb they are lol.

by the way he did give his permission, but a message to him saying u talked to me would be appreciated im sure
Cool. Thanks for the link. I'll send him a pm and start on porting this over this week. I think the hardware hasn't changed a lot, so it shouldn't be too intense (I hope anyways...lol). Give me a few days and I'll post a progress update (or start a new thread if I get something worthwhile sooner...).

Still working on it... twopointtwo is a Froyo based rom, so I'm switching to the Evo 3D twopointthree and to see what I can get (Rather stick with the GB based ports, instead of rolling back...). The devices have some similarities, so I should be able to get a decent port (I hope). I've been fairly busy lately, so it probably won't be anything for the next couple weeks...

The Incredible version (twopointtwo) was Froyo, according to the information in the OP. The Evo 3d version is GB, 2.3.4, and the device specs are similar to ours, so it should work. I've got the port files swapped and will be testing today to see if it boots. With any luck, could have a working port by the end of the week at this rate...
I haven't tried the port file, so don't get your hopes up yet guys! I'll post another update later today and let you all know how the tests are going...
Awesome man. That's great news. If u need a test dummy lemme know.

NP... First test just boots back into recovery, so I've got some more porting to do tonight to get it booting... Hoping to have a bootable test by tomorrow or Friday...
EDIT: Still just boots back to recovery. I need to try a few other kernels and see what I can get to boot this...

Please help with lockscreen mod if you have some spare time

Hey guys-
I am on the latest build of PA, and I cant for the life of me apply this patch.. Its just way too far ahead of my modding skills... anyone here have info or can lend a helping hand on how I can get it to work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597928
This one is nice too....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920612
It would be great if we could some how bake these into the PA rom or other roms right outta the box.
Thank you for your time.
Was also trying to patch this using the old hard way or even using those utility or autopatch programs they have here on xda ...end result. Couldn't get it to work either =(
I think that's the new lockscreen that aokp is getting though.
Mind if I include this in my ROM?

Miui

What's the probability of MIUI V5 coming to our phones? Is any DEV or S4 user even interested?
I've only used MIUI once way back on my S1 or could have been S2, I forget, but it was a pretty nice ROM. I've really only used CM ROMs, hardly ever use stock, and I would love to try MIUI.

i am very interested in it, but have no idea where to start. user bmarko has a port for the GT-I9505 up and running http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306650
maybe someone would be willing to try to port it over to SGH-M919?

im debating, i would do it, but i dont wanna deal with the questions/support after as im sure half would be cyanogen related bugs/issues and the other half would be MIUI issues that are beyond my control, plus the main issue is i would need permission from bmarko82, and it would take me a whole day, and im kinda short on days right now as im doing a remodel on the home. if it doesnt pop up and someone doesnt port in a few weeks ill ask bmarko82 for permish...im not sure how many people are really wanting this.
although u might wanna check out this ROM it looks similar:
