I noticed that since last weekend my weather app would not update I would get periodic messages say "There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data" but if I pressed retry a few times it would then finally update the weather.
Now since yesterday it has not updated at all. Is there any setting or configuration that I can check?
I am considering hard resetting the phone to see if that would cure the issue but I am not looking forward to spending 3 hours installing all my apps and hack cabs to get it back to the way I want it.
I know the weather app may be a bit trivial but it has been working fine since I have had the phone. and the forcasts are usually close to right so I use it to plan my day when I have to work in the field.
there seems to be server issues.
I am using JVH3 Weather City Editor for TF3D and Sense 2.1 and 2.5
do they all use the same servers?
I'm using the default Weather app in the Touch Pro2 WWE.
And now I see that it hasn't updated since 4 days.
I don't get any error, but it just doesn't update
I hope they haven't shut down the service.
Same issue here... and I am using the stock weather with the JV3H weather city editor as well... yesterday it went 14 hours without updating and I would get the same error as you listed, this morning it was updated when I woke up and then it updated like normal but 2 hours ago it stopped and I am getting the error message again...stocks update just fine.
Same issue here. Stock Rom weather will not update. Can browse the internet just fine though. Wierd.
How many times does it have to be said. The weather server is down.
Till it comes back up

I've manually updated the stock weather tab a couple of times this morning (I have auto-update switched off), and never had any delay or error...? I just now checked it again, still no issue.
Don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm running a stock WM 6.1 ROM
mine was down last night at around 2am or so..its working fine today..now this is probably not the right place to post this issue but ive never been able to update the weather on any rom ive run when Roaming on a manilla 2.5 rom..ive made some posts over at PPCgeeks but havent gotten any real good answers as to why they've told me to flash different radios, ive even done the flash dance and forced roam without installing any other software except provisioning cab and it updates when on my home towers but not roaming..if anyone can help im on Sprint Touch pro 2..usually running Mighty Rom War 2.5..

How do you know the server is down? Also, I am NOT running the version you mentioned but rather HV3B's weather cav. Its Accuweather and I can hit the "more detail online" and get current info. Stocks update is down now as well. I called ATT and they spent 45 minutes working on the weather issue and told me it was more then likely my SIM card (the cards 2 years old). Does that make sense to anyone?
No it isnt your sim card. CDMA phones have the same problem.

It may be this but you may have aleady checked this setting. If you're on the Weather tab in touchflo click on the Menu button at the bottom and go to settings. In here there's a checkbox to Download weather when roaming.

yah its checked..ive taken all the measures to ensure that it updates..my 2.1 roms always updated fine..my friend duplicated the issue with the same phone and service and rom..i force roam in this one certain area just because if i stay on sprint my battery drains because its going in and out of signal..i dont think its me forcing roam thats causing it..but im not sure..i guess what i want more is peace of mind that someone elses maybe on here has the same issue lol.

I have been able to update weather all day.
crap...mine wont
my location will update weather but if i add other loactions they will not. i use n2a servers and his are down even from home isp. if you use any weather tab plugin to add cities to the htc plugin then you probably also use his servers possibly without realizing it. hope it comes back soon...
not sure who's servers I use..I used the HV3B cab to add cities...any way to change directly to the accuweather servers or will that not work?
I am running the stock ROM.

I've downgraded my radio and gone back to PAYS 2.1
Too many probs with Froyo at the moment from wrong locale, market not working, laggy scrolling, gps and location not working, flaky wifi, etc
I appreciate what the modders are doing but froyo is not ready for daily use yet.

Working with Froyo since last week.
It's almost perfect. Radio is working correctly and functionality has been tried in deep. I've just found that orientation sensor is not precise as in 2.1. And I'm using: DJ Droid, A2SD+, Odexed. No problem with nandroid backups, nor with pc connection, nor with radio.

i have installed the new radio 2.0 and it network locked my phone so got a new 1 from orange tried installing the defrost 2.0 stable with the new radio from rom manager and again it has network locked my phone.
what is going wrong?
orange will suspect something if i keep going back with the same problem.

Well I've no idea whats going on , I went back to last nights back up reflashed the radio and its been fine. However I am not convinced.
My phone was locked to tmobile I got an unlock code of ebay for £8 killer , cant be locked now so I am happy with that.
I am going to try the other froyo release's I think it maybe something to do with Orange - the coverage is poor at work and maybe froyo isnt reattaching to the network once it loses coverage (i worked in the industry)
One thing baffles me , where and why do my widegts detach and disappear when I mount the phone as an memory stick for videos?

guys with the Locking issue >> Its not a UK network standard radio so you will always get sim locked, you need an unlock code to change your radio..

Hi,
I have major problems now with 2.2 after update. It was said to be quicker, much quicker.
In fact - my Desire is now slower as HTC Sense is reloading almost every time I come back from Gmail, Camera or other applications. This is so awful! Do you have same issues?
Also - I found that I cannot move all of my apps to SD card. Why? Can I force it?
So far was able to move to SD only 4 or 5 apps...
As for the slowness, sorry but I can't help, here it's the opposite.
About the apps move to SD, the coder has to update the app to be compatible with Froyo and the move to the SD card. Not all have been so far.
Maybe there were a few issues that HTC overlooked and if so, then they will probably bring out a fix for it.
Hi Guys, my update did not go too well and the phone keeps rebooting and I do not get any radio. Any thoughts. Anyone knows where I can get the 2.2 RUU to do a manual install? Thanks
My market application is broken....so i can't install any apps, and i can't browse my sd card for appcs, because a browser app is missing...ahhhhh
I don't have any issues after the upgrade. 2.2 is working just fine! Everything is much faster than before!
EDIT:
Except that Sygic don't wanna start

Android 2.2 Update: Major & Minor problems
Hi.
I'm in the UK and I got the OTA update this afternoon.
The update was over and done in less than 15 minutes.
Since then I had to uninstall & reinstall one app to make it work (WallSwitch) - the minor issue, and my Desire won'tconnect to my home wifi (MAJOR ISSUE!)
Can't talk about the quality of the update yet I've spent all my time trying to get my wifi to connect.
oh almost forgot...it looks as if the previous separate Voice Search is now fully integrated but it leaves the previously distinct Voice Search app installed. I haven't worked out if I can remove it yet.
Update 3rd August: Finally found a workaround for my wifi connection problem: Switched to a using a static ip address. Not ideal but good enough. btw I'm using a Belkin N1 Router with the latest firmware (Belkin haven't updated that in over 7 years and I doubt they ever will!!)
Found several folks with similar wifi connection issues.
Having fixed the wifi issue, I have noticed that my phone seems quicker and more responsive could be the "Update Placebo" effect but I hope not
Update: 30th August: since the Froyo update I'm also having problems connecting to GPS and 3G. I guess I'll have to wait for another minor update.
I dont have same issues as you, but my homescreen is sometimes reseting on its own.. it happens rarly but still, i want a perfect system...
Here all is perfect....froyo to win!!!

After updating my phone replaces the selected recipient of an SMS or MMS with a different random identity. The best part is I've no idea if it's happening or not until the text is sent.
Hey,
Check out this post:

I had the same problem with the froyo update on my Desire. Step #1 puts it back to how it was (SO REMEMBER TO BACK UP OR USE DIFFERENT SD CARD THAN YOUR USUAL), then you can have a second chance to redo your update.
I just wrote an SMS and froyo didn't recognise the standard dutch library which it came with, I find this quite annoying.
edit: problem fixed by adding the dutch language to keyboard language option.
Update: 30th August: As well as ongoing WIFI problems, since the Froyo update I'm also having problems connecting to GPS and 3G. I guess I'll have to wait for another minor update to fix them.

The update seems rushed (BIG SIGH HERE). Too many minor issues, but they keep on piling up. HTC's Éclair was near-perfect.
Im reading about a fair few people who can't upgrade their unbranded handsets today.
Ive also heared a few noises that the update may have been suspended !
Yesterday was fine, I posted a walkthrough and link to a useful guide for debranding over on the android forum and most people were reporting back with success however today, two or three have mentioned that after debranding and installing a generic Rom they are getting the 'no update available, your handset is up to date' message when checking for the 2.2 update
Combine that with the thread on here about no update for unbranded T-Mobile and im beginning to wonder if somethings going on.
Most unbranded handsets will have most likely been updated by now so it will be interested to see if any more people who haven't yet done so are still offered the update.
don't know, but maybe they want to fix the issues before they roll out to more users.
Issues I have: GPS and WIFI don't work anymore. Pretty major, so I hope they push out a fix fast!
Today I should guide a friend to the OTA update. But she got same issue says device is up to date.
And she is unbranded no root stock 2.1 ROM. so sure something is going on in the HTC lab.
Exactly the same here - debranded a Vodafone UK Desire today and no update available :'(
Although if GPS + WiFi don't work for some people this is a pretty unstable release

No problem for me! Sorry for you.
It's wierd , I have an unbranded Desire with a Virgin sim in it. when I tried the check for software via mobile internet, nothing, said I was up to date, when I tried it via wifi, it updated seamlessly... No issues with wifi or GPS so far either. Best of luck to you though..
Yeah I had the option to upgrade yesterday and now it's gone, so +1 for the silently pulled theory.
I'm confused is the 2.2 update rolling out at the moment in the UK? I cant seem to get it on orange?
the funny thing is, wifi worked directly after the update (Sunday) but stopped working yesterday.
I tested GPS since I read other people had trouble with it, and indeed, no location fix for me.
I sent a mail to HTC support, hope they fix it soon.
they may have stopped it, but today isn't the first day I've tried it...
it didn't work on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday either...
Pauly (op t-mobile thread)
someone over in t-mobile thread says you can't force the update through the check for updates button anyway, you need to wait for a service message?
Perhaps they are only sending the message out intermittently and I've been unlucky enough to be out of signal each time?

if it is unbranded, try occasionally. it worked for me.
Maybe they did pull it. It updated last night by checking manually on my de-branded T-Mobile desire. I've had nothing but problems with froyo. Switching home screens seems laggier, as does the browser. Also, my biggest problem is the battery life seems to have gone terrible for me. I unplugged at 8:30am, its now 6pm, and I'm on 50% and I haven't used it at all as I've been in work. With 2.1 I'd have 80+% left.

http://liveimage.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip
i hope this kills the rumour for good
I manually checked for upgrades on my unrooted and unbranded Desire on Sunday and it suggested Froyo. I hesitated to update cause I wanted to be able to root at a later time, and cancelled. When I manually checked for upgrades today, it claimed there weren't any. To me that also suggests that they pulled it.

Yep, I reckon so.
It certainly explains why people following my walkthrough for debranding over on the android forum haven't been ale to update to FroYo today yet yesterday and maybe even early this morning things were fine.

I think if you cancel an update Desire will no longer ask for it. (I think I read about a similar case in a Bulgarian forum which happened on the day of the update)
Ok, I'm not sure what's going on or how to fix this. Yesterday, I couldn't connect to the market, it kept telling me it was a network error. I could still browse the internet no problem. Then I notice that Facebook wasn't updating, so it is a connection issue. It's weird that I could still browse the internet and Google+ would load my streams as well as upload photos that were taken. I decided to do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) and re-install Oxygen2.1.6.
The re-install went fine, but now I still cannot connect to the Market so my apps aren't re-installing. Any ideas what might fix this since a full wipe didn't help?
Nothing had changed between the connection working and it not working. The phone wasn't rebooted, nothing changed in my APN settings either. Connection bars are all green.
Everything works fine when I'm connected to wifi.
*Restoring a previous backup doesn't work either and whenever I try to re-flash 2.1.6 I get a bootloop. So confused.
Nobody knows?
Really don't want to flash the RUU and re-root/s-off again if I don't have to. Just seems weird to me that this was working one evening then suddenly not working the next day with no re-boot or anything different installed in between.
I'm not using a desire but rather a nexus s.. but I'm having the exact same issue. I've tried just about everything except unrooting to fix it.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I'm going to try flashing a different radio when I get home but I can't really see that fixing it as it's been working with no issues since I first rooted it a while back.
I tried several radios with no success. Its so strange. Gmail, xda, browser work.. but no market, Facebook, or twitter widget updates from launcher pro. I'm so confused.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Yea, all the same here. My YouTube app doesn't work either.
I've been experiencing the same problems. I've been researching and tinkering and I've found some interesting things out.
First off I am going to assume that you two are on the TELUS network, you never said but that is what I am on and I have heard no information about it occuring on other networks
I noticed it yesterday and initiated several re-flashes and radio updates, none of which helped. Today I went into TELUS and they told me that they have been having alot of people with the telus bravo encountering similar issues. So instead of frowning and walking out I decided to ask if I could speak to the technician.
According to him the issue is not a connection to the network, rather that either the phones radio or the network is dropping the connection partway through data transfer. Therefore you can get through the connection, DNS and handshake processes, but it will fail during the transfer of data, but at no specified time. So I could use Grasscities Tapatalk app because it was just transferring text and other light data, but downloading large amounts of data winds up failing, which is why you can’t get market to work. TELUS does not know if the issue is only affecting desires (looks like it’s wider than just that) or if it is happening on any other network. They are in the information gathering phase and still waiting on a reply from HTC’s technical team to see if it is a problem affecting the radios.
I’ve spent most of the last 48 hours trying to solve this problem with no luck. TELUS has assigned me top level case advisement so I will update this thread as I know more about the problem. In the meantime, and I know how much it sucks, you will have to stick with wifi (as will I T_T)
Yeah, I'm on Telus. That would explain why a friend with a Nexus S on Rogers had no problems at all. I sure hope Telus figures this out soon. For now, I'm subscribing to this thread and hoping you hear something back. I'll update if I notice my data connection has returned to normal. Thanks for the info!
Also on Telus. Thanks so much for the update. I was thinking it was something on their part and have been meaning to call them but I'm at work. Just kinda assumed it wasn't their fault since some data did work, but it's good to have an answer.
Now I just need to figure out why my phone keeps bootlooping on a fresh 2.1.6 Oxygen install.
No problem guys, I know how frazzled you feel; I’ve been the exact same way for the last 48 hours.
Though I must say I am surprised that the forums are not all aflutter with discussion about this. The way the technician at TELUS was talking it sounded like they were getting a lot of calls about this. But dear freaking god I hope they get this solved soon… and if not then they had better let me out of my contract.
glad to hear it's not just me.. this has been happening since I went and saw U2 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto Monday night.. Every time I tried to upload pics I was taking at the concert it would just pause on the upload, or fail out completely.. my signal was dropping to nothing there as well.. I thought, being at the "Rogers" centre, that perhaps they'd set up a Telus signal blocking station
But then the problems have continued through to today. Some stuff kinda works.. I can get FB and Twitter updates from my Colorize Widgets, but can't actually use the FB app. twitter.com works, but facebook.com doesn't. google works sometimes.. but most pages time out in the manner mentioned above.
Quite annoying.
That's weird. This has been happening since yesterday for me, but last night it had no problems Instant Uploading pictures to Google+.
Some functionality has returned for me. Market still won't load.. but Facebook half-loads and the twitter widget in launcherpro is loading again. They must be working on it. I hope they fix it all soon.
