[Q] Help.... phone stuck in saying "CyanogenMod 7"...

HI... i updated my phone with cyanogen 7 rc2, but after it booted up it's stuck in the animation that says cyanogen mod 7 , and the blue android sign... in comes than goes, again it comes... about 20 min stuck... what to do???

It sounds like you need to go into recovery mode and delete all your caches. If you are using ClockworkMod recovery do the following (make sure you are backed up first):
Delete all user data and info (under wipe data/ factory reset),
Wipe cache (under wipe cache partition),
Wipe Dalvik Cache (under advanced).
Then once you've done that try installing and running the ROM again.

i done that one time... for info im using AmonRA.. i cleaned all the cache and everything also... and installed again... nothing happens... fortunately i restored my nand backup and booted my phone with the OTA again... waiting for some answer.... do u think that installing stable version can fix this?

Sounds like a bad flash. I had rc2 running for a month or so with no issues. I've had times when the rom just doesn't install properly ans reflashing fixes it.
Download the zip again, if possible check md5 to make sure it's all good, make sure you have the desire/bravo GSM version, clear everything and flash just the rom and nothing else. If it boots, then go back and flash your gapps and whatever else you want.

thx for replying.. as i was waiting for your reply, i download the cm 6 that is a stable version and checked, it has the same problem too.. i also downloaded GingerVillain 1.6 and it had the same problem too. do u think the problem might be that my phone is "s-on"? and how should i know if my phone is s-on or s-off... when i was rooting my phone with unrevoked, i checked the option that says disable security, but i'm not sure if it's disabled.... because i can't install un-signed zip packages....
any reply?

That definitely sounds odd. Its definitely not an issue with S-ON/OFF, nothing you've done here requires S-OFF to work properly.
Lets just make sure you're following all the steps.
In amonra, you've done your nandroid backup, so no need to do it again. There's no point having a non working backup
Go to wipe and wipe data/factory reset
Wipe davlik cache
Wipe sd-ext (shouldn't need to do this one as you don't have apps2sd yet, but better to be safe)
Now you flash your update.zip, then reboot and you should be fine. The only other thing I can perhaps suggest if every rom you flash sticks at boot is to perhaps try clockwork recovery instead of amonra. Apart from that we might have to wait for folks more knowledgeable than myself cause I'm all out of ideas.

thx for reply.... in meanwhile , i s-off ed my phone and it has the same problem too... i have problem with all cm and gingervillain roms.. but i don't have any problem with leedriod... one more question that maybe the problem is that i have android 2.2 installed, but gingervillain and cm use android 2.3 ... this maybe the problem.... and that's why leedroid works right, because it uses android 2.2.... i'm going to check OxyGen roms... i will post the result here...

i also faced same problem CM7 .. i tried CM6 and it went on fine..

heyyy... right after i posted the reply , i went to recovery and wiped anything, then installed gingervillain 1.6, and everything's fine now... it booted up and now im setting it up.... im going to check the cm 7 too.

i tried cm7 rc2 ... and it was fine and now im using it... here's a how to for solving the problem...:
1.S-OFF your device with AlphaRev : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805811
2.Install the AlphaRev Recovery(S-OFF Image will do it automatically).
3.Go to recovery and install the rom...
4.Boot up and it should not go to system and it should stay in loop as the problem was..
5.Now you should reboot your device into recovery... there are two ways to do this... either take the battery off and put it on, then boot to bootloader by pressing the volume down and the power key and select recovery , or the second way connect it to your computer and start adb and run this command:
adb reboot recovery
6.In AlphaRev recovery first wipe the cache partition , wipe user data, and factory reset...
7.then install the rom (either cm7 or gingervillain)...
8. boot up , and now you have the system running...
This solved my problem... reply if it didn't yours...

hooo.. it worked for me now. just kept update.zip in a new SD card and not flashed google apps..

[Q] I can't flash anymore roms :(

Guys I tried to flash CM 7.1 stable on my girlfriend's defy and on the first try it didn't install correctly the google apps so I had to reflash them again.
Since that moment I couldn't be able to access the rom anymore, it was stuck in boot loop.
So I flashed some sbf's but I was'nt satisfied with any of them so everytime I try to repeat the whole procedure (root, recovery, flash) the CM 7.1 rom that I flash doesn't start, it stops on the CM boot logo.
Today I tried again installing CM starting from a Froyo sbf, but again no success, this time it's stuck on the original motorola logo, not even the CM one.
What can I do? it seems like I'm not able to properly flash a rom anymore, only sbf's work. Thanks!

have you wipe data from recovery before apply cm7....?

check if you have wiped data before flashing cm plus which version of 2ndinit did you install ???

Yes, I wiped data, cache and dalvik before applying cm7.

I wiped data. I installed 2ndinit 1.9

One more wipe
You should also do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik/Battery Stats) AFTER applying all the zips.

wipe everything and try
wipe both data/cache and then try
if its for your girlfriend's phone then try cmiui its awesome man.
im sure you will be appreciated for this from your girlfriend.

i have installed 2.1 but you install 1.8 or 2.0 its working fine.

there you go thats the problem installing 1.9 and trying to install cm causes a bootloop use 1.4 that is known to be stable and will work !!!!

[TUT] Installing Creeds rom v2.0

This is what I did to install creed's rom.
1. Download the rom and the CWM by SKIN1980. (/IGKG2L5RAF) PUT IT ON MULTIUPLOAD DOT COM, JUST ADD IT ON THE ADDRESS BAR. IT'S SKIN'S CWM.
2. After you download those files, put it in ur sdcard(on the root of sdcard)
3. Boot into recovery. turn off your phone and hold Vol. UP+Home button+Power button.
4. click Wipe data/reset
5. install zip from sdcard then choose CWM by SKIN1980.zip
6. Backup your rom(incase of problems)to do this: Backup and Restore -> Backup.
7. Install zip from sdcard then choose the Creeds rom v2.0.zip
8. Wait for the Rom to be finished.
9. After installing, Reboot system now.
10. Enjoy the rom,

what do you mean? mine was successful. Did you wait for atleast 5 mins.? make sure that you did wipe data on the normal recovery not on cwm. I cannot because i am just a new member. btw, i should help you tomorrow because i have to go to school early. so sorry. :3 Goodnight, may you solve your problem.

follow this steps:
-boot into recovery mode
-apply update on SD card
-choose Skin's CWM
-wipe data/ cache
-install zip from SD card
-choose the Creed's V2
-after you install don't wipe the data/cache
reboot the device and wait patiently.

i have successfully installed creeds rom but my earphones(the stock earphones haven't used another) are not working, in music player and fm radio. i installed with no problems but in from 2.3.5 version not 2.3.6 does this have to do with it ? does anyone also experience this ? please help thanks in advance

i successfully installed the V2 but the problem is no notification bar..i installed the 14toggle but installation aborted...

is anyone know how to change theme in creed v2 rom. in the pics of creed v2 a beautiful theme is applied with dark blue background. i m unable to change the background in creed v2 rom. plz help me to change theme....

Works fine but any fix for market , not connecting..

I am just a newbie in android, i just post this thread for you to know how i did it, but it is based on my experience, i didnt experience any problem yet.
i think you should do this, go back to stock first, go to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, flash the skin's cwm, wipe data/cache, install zip from sdcard, choose creeds rom v2, then wait. the 1st boot needs patience.

-hard reset
-use CWM given by creed (its a temporary cwm) no need for skin's cwm (that soft bricked my phone -.-)
-boot into stock recovery
-data nd cache wipe
-install the temporary cwm (install update from sdcard)
Now in cwm recovery
-install update from sdcard (creed's rom v2)
-then init.d-autorunner
-then boot animation fix
-let phone reboot (if you can see d status bar nd can recieve calls then u hav done d installation correctly, if not then start over again) and first boot takes A LOT of time, till then play some games on ur pc or something
-use the phone for some time
Now in stock recovery
-install update(or zip) from sdcard select the 14status
And you r done
-enjoy the awesome rom

That IS Skin's temporary CWM..
the one which soft bricked your(mine too) phone was his attempt at making a permanent one..

I have a htc wildfire phone.
I S-Off-ed it with revolutionary, and also flashed Clockwork 3.0.0.6 on it.
Than I wiped cache (darvik also) and system , and tried to install cym 7 from [install zip from sd card]
as progress goes through, phone freezes or restarts and only green HTC logo appears on the screen, without sound and message (quietly brilliant).
It happens on all rom-s i've tried, nightly ones and cym 6.0 also.
Could you please help me to fix my phone?

Did you do a full wipe?
If you just wipe the cache partitions, the ROM will bootloop.

He means data, dalvik cache and cache. Do those three wipes and reinstall the zip.

Thanks guys for replay.
I wiped data, dalvik cache and cache.
Than reinstalled zip (cym 6.0), the progress bar went nearly complete, than it freezed, rebooted and booted into clockwork directly.
than i clicked on [reboot system now], it rebooted and is freezed on HTC green logo without animation and sound.
Can i do anything else? or can I install htc sense rom again? (note that I had a backup and when I click a restore, it does restore but still freezes in middle process and no effect is given on phone)

Most Sense ROMs will require a 2.5 recovery. (Use the .zip I attached, it'll give you a temporary recovery once you flash it).
I know that Rempuzzle doesn't require 2.5 recovery tho. Have you tried re-installing the CM7 .zip? or re-downloading and re-installing?

Yesterday, I had exactly the same problem like you. The problem was something with the recovery system. I flashed it again and since then, it works.

ok guys,
I've updated clockwork with update.zip, it appeared blue clockwork 2.5, I wiped everything and started installation over. no ROMs worked (cym 7, cym 6, and latest nightly cyms, HCDR.ROM also).
I think downgrading on 2.5 is kind of reflash too. note that when I reboot recovery it is still orange 3.0.0.6 then until I update it again with update1.zip
Still no result, please help if you have any more ideas.

Flash a complete new recovery, for example with the PC49IMG.zip method..

Clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0 has the blue text.
Clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.7 which you need to flash older roms has green text.
The Orange one is clockwork 3.x.x.x which atm is your main recovery installed in the phone, the update zip gives a temporary recovery which will disappear after rebooting, I'm not quite sure where your going wrong but just try this if you have a cm7 Rom on your SD card.
Power off the phone and then boot into recovery, volume down and power to get hboot and then select recovery, (sorry for the noob instructions, I just want to make sure your doing it correctly) when the Orange clockwork loads up first select wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache, after that scroll down to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache from in that menu, then go back and choose install from zip/choose zip find your cm7 Rom and select it after its done its thing reboot from main menu.
Cm7 should install fine from clockwork 3.x+ and then if you want to install an older rom like cm6 open Rom manager flash clockwork 2.5.0.7 (also temporary) and reboot into it then do the same wipes and flash cm6.

guys, I did PC49IMG.zip method too. I mean I wrote this file on sd card and than in fastreboot i clicked volume up (update). it has done everything.
I do cym7 installation exactly with your (nooby) instruction. thing is that when installation process goes, it is not finnishing, its freezing or rebooting phone and then not booting exept green HTC logo.
I think this is unique case in this forum. so no more ideas I guess.

Look here at the second post, try to update clockwork to the latest 5.0.2.0 then try again.

Boot keeps restarting :(

i was rooting my arc s and it was successfully rooted after that i wanted to install some custom rom on it, i tryed the Modded ICS one and installed there boot.img and now my phone just reboots after it shows the "XPERIA" logo
Please help im new at flashing )

So u have flashed boot but not rom?
U need to have the rom on your SD .
Turn off phone boot it up and when boot logo appears repeatly press back button (not sure if there's an indicater on that kernel or not)
This should boot cwm when in cwm make a backup
Select backup and restore then backup
When this completes wipe data ,clear cache and advanced clear dalvik cache
now select install zip from SD ,then choose zip from SD,then locate your rom file select it and hit yes when it finishes ,reboot and enjoy
Volume rocker moves up and down
And home or power button selects
If u can't get into cwm u have made a mistake flashing boot so reflash it before the above
Failing this return to stock by flash original fw thru flash tool
Plenty of tuts on that just search

try re-flashing the kernel and then re flashing the rom...

is not the solution,i try several times,and always the same results.

Try:
1) copy your rom into sdcard.
2) flash your kernel under fastboot mode, then reboot.
3) keep press volumn button while rebooting, it should b under cwm screen.
4) wipe dalvik cache under advance
5) wipe data partition
6) factory reset, then reboot again
7) go into cwm screen again, then choose install zip frm sdcard, choose n run the rom that u copy into sdcard earlier. Reboot again after completed.
8) u shall wait for a while when restarting... Then should b ok....
U may try this, dunno whether work for u not.

For mooded ics rom, U must use ics stock kernel or doomlord ics advanced stock kernel, its run quite well for me...

I flashed my arc s last night with ICS Kernel with CWM Recovery and JJ's rom, had the same problem but as the above poster mentioned, wipe everything sorted out the problem.
Note: Just factory reset not enough you have to wipe everything
