To make one is not that difficult, try to search for a goldcardtool.
Hey...
I got this error too but I had a goldcard in my phone!
just flashed the official 2.2 rooted!
Does anyone have an idea if there is a RUU that works with bootloader 0.80 without downgrading it to 0.75?
Thx
I have successfully debranded my 3 branded Desire with software version 1.22.771.1. Steps:
1. Make a goldcard.
2. With unrevoked3 root your phone.
3. Patch the /misc partition with update.zip (found on modaco forums, www .shadowchild. nl/fixmisc/update.zip).
4. Install RUU with goldcard in phone (you won't get error 140). I had to restart my phone with adb reboot bootloader.
5. Flash OTA update.zip from sdcard.
This worked for me.
Works with vodafone bloatware
Many, many thanks!! Like so many others, I downloaded vf's wonderful update(?). The partition patch worked like a dream - no more bootloader errors when trying to flash. I now have a working version of 1.21.405.2.
Hello All
Sorry if this has been asked before I didn't see it anywhere.
I rooted then upgraded my HTC Desire to Oxygen 2.3 but to be honest not impressed I use my mobile for my business and I just need it to work ..and well it dosent.
So please can someone let me know how I re-install the original ROM and OTA updates enabled. Im with Vodafone in the UK and would be most grateful for some help.
Thanks
Paul
Did you "Nandroid backup" before flashing Oxygen?
If you want ro use stock with OTA updates, you have to flash the original ROM with the RUU. There are the shipped RUUs in the Desire Developement section.

Yes, you need to have a goldcard.

Sorry to drag an old thread up!
I have had my desire with LeeDroid on it as far back as I can remember, but recently my phone just keeps restating when it gets slightly warm, browsing GPS ect trigger it. It's not the ROM as it's happened before in recovery too. Needs to go back to warranty........
So, I need to convert back to standard, I'm going to do this after the phone has been in the fridge for a while so it doesn't cut out during flashing!
Mines a Vodafone desire, but I never remember any branding on it, or on the box and no voda apps I can think of.
Currently on 32.56.00.32U _ 5.17.05.08
Should I go for a voda specific or an unbranded? If so, can some kind soul point me in the direction of said ROM?
If you did not have a branding, no need to install a branded ROM.
Usually you find all the ROMs at shipped-roms dot com slash index.php QuestionMark category=android And model=Bravo
Sorry but I can not post external Links yet as I'm a Noob in this Forum.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Hi
When I tried H3G uk its saying ur phone ready to use but screen not working when i tried WWE(world wide english), it stated the customer id prob, install correct RUU.
You need a gold card for a non-3 UK RUU - sounds ike you have an SLCD screen and flashed an AMOLED RUU, hence the black screen
Out of interest, if you run available 3uk ruu and check for updates, won't it update it for you? Mine was 3uk before root and custom ROM, so might need this info at some point. Thanks

Eddy, is that a correct one?
Hi.
My Device:
HTC Desire PVT4 SLCD rooted, s-off
since my homebutton doesnt work anymore i wanted to make use of my warranty and send in the device. Problem is: it was t-mobile branded, so i had to s-off the device and use those custom installations (with the slcd installer and the OTA update i had to rename to update.zip. got the tutorial from a german site whose admin is known for helping with desire problems and stuff)
i follwed the instructions 1:1 but it somehow didnt work properly
Problem: My device is stuck on a certain screen and wont boot anything anymore.
The screen: HTC logo in the middle, triangles with ! in every corner
absolutely no reaction to any keypresses, the only thing that produces some kind of reaction is plugging and unplugging the usb cable, which gives me a screen similar to the bootloader screen that says:
--- AlphaRev ---
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010,17:52:18
RUU (the only "usable" option, though i cant use it. its in orange)
What do i do now?
My device is, as stated above a german t-mobile device.
ive googled for hours now but dont find anything particular (especially since there are so many different desires out there today and t-mobile doesnt seem to like people to get a hand on their newe RUUs, or do they?)
i found the austrian RUU on t-mobile.at though i read on some german sites that this wont work on my device (maybe brick it even more?)
on shipped-roms.com there is a UK t-mob RUU, though i dont know whether this is 2.2 (since 2.1 doesnt have SLCD drivers) so im not sure whether to flash this one either
Can i even use a RUU at this point?
if you need any information i maybe forgot, tell me and ill try to find out
thanks in advance
(cant provide links since i am a first time poster)

I think it is an UK ROM, so no German/Austrian one.
I found an thread in a German forum and they have linked an Austrian t-mobile RUU for Desire SLCD: http://www.t-mobile.at/servicedownloads4you/webnwalkmanager/HTC_Desire_Froyo_Update_RUU.zip
You need to unzip the file, don't flash the ZIP on your Desire!

Jerrol, here is a complete guide how to unroot the Desire:

It's easier than it seems ...
Short: After you flashed the stock Desire hboot (see here: http://alpharev.nl/) you can run the RUU via PC.
But don't try to install the RUU.zip via recovery. Just unzip it an run the .exe.

Hi.
You don't need to flash any HBOOTS or HBOOT donwngrader. Since you are S-ON you can't even do this, so exclude it from your steps and continue.
It can be a conflict with your HBOOT version if the RUU you are trying to run is too old and has a smaller HBOOT version (e.g. 0.80), and it won't install properly.
I always recommend to use the latest RUU available WWE 2.29.405.5, but this is at your discretion to choose. Also make sure your phone wasn't branded, or you'll going to need a Gold Card to install the RUU.

You need a Goldcard, yes. You have a branded phone. Only unbranded don't need it.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 Post 2 point 4 ff.:
4. Do I need a Goldcard?
If you have a recent version of the RUU for your Device, available on Shipped Roms, you dont need a goldcard. This is the usual scenario for people who purchased their Desire in Europe, and so have an unbranded Desire. All Branded Desires need a correct branded version of the RUU, and any other RUU including WWE (Worldwide English, or European) RUU will not work for them. Also if an unbranded Desire user wishes to change RUU to a branded version, he will need a Goldcard. This is because all Desires have a particular software tag in the Rom, called the InfoCID. This dictates the Region code. For Eg. An Indian Desire is branded and has InfoCID of HTC__038. When you change a RUU to different region, what you actually do is reset the InfoCID setting. Changing the InfoCID setting requires a Goldcard.
5. What is a Goldcard?
It is a normal MicroUSB card specially prepared in such a way that its Sector 0 (which normally doesnt hold anything useful) is modified, so that it signals to the HTC RUU that the InfoCID may be changed.
6. How do I create a Goldcard?
Just download this tool (Credits and All Rights by [email protected]), and run it.
7. Can you tell me more about Goldcards?
Sure. I've already posted it for you. Read the FAQs in this thread.

Hi you should make sure that the version ain't lower than what you have on your phone ( the version is 2.12.110.4 ), or, as I said, there will be a HBOOT conflict (if the HBOOT is lower).
Anyway I think you can give it a try without the Gold Card, since this is T-Mobile RUU, it should work, although it is recommended you make a gold card. There are lot's of threads on how to do this even without the phone.
Nothing bad will happen, besides the fact that it won't work and give you an error.

+1. I totally agree!
Hi There
After latest HTC OTA-Update was hboot updated to 3.19.0.0000.
I unlocked bootloader again and flashed cwm-recovery, after reboot WiFi didn't work, all Wigdets deleted and many more.
Then i tried to flash ruu from here, but all i get is the Mesage that hboot on my device is to new.
With hboot 3.18.0.0000 i could flash this ruu without problems.
Now my Questions :
Is there a way to downgrade hboot to 3.18.0.0000
If yes, could someone upload this version (or tell me how to extract from ruu)
Thanks and Greetings
...and Goldcard Method didn't work
May I please get the link for your RUU so that we can try and find the fix for your issue ? More details on the phone model and system update version will be helpful to understand the issues.

sorry and ok - here are more Informations :
The OTA-update from HTC i flashed is : OTA_A5_UL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1-1.33.401.1_release_385376.zip
The RUU i tried for repairing my device is the .zip from that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2763591
my device ist HTC Desire 816 (single SIM / Europe)
hope that helps
Greetings
I would first rest the phone twice from the settings, menu rather than from the recovery. Doing this way might erase your internal sd card. So backup and then reset to factory settings twice before filling in the details after first reset. This should fix your issue off the update has been successfully installed.
My phone is a dual SIM version and there appears to be no single SIM version RUUs available apart from the one you showed me. However there appears to be a backup floating around in the xda forum did the single SIM version.
The other possibility if the first one doesn't work is to install the kingsense 1.0 or 2.0 custom Rom that has the 3.18.0.0 radio and then flash the single SIM RUU. The custom Rom when installed on single SIM throw sms and GPS problems but that shouldn't effect you as you are going to install European RUU on top of it.
Let me please know how it goes if you wish to experiment. In anyways, don't forget to backup the current Rom before you experiment as that would be your savior when in trouble.

re
Thanks, but nothing helped.
I tried all you told.
Tested to flash after format /system /data & /cache.
The reason is hboot (bootloader), ruu doesn't flash, when hboot is newer than in ruu.
Other idea ?
Greetings
But when you flash kinghunkis Rom, your hboot version must change to 3.18..... For sure though. Then the RUU should work.
However, no one is successful so far in installing that RUU from what I gathered from the very minimal comments in that thread. It could be the issue with that RUU file as well. Otherwise try Chinese Unicom version RUU s for dual SIM and then try the European one that you may be after. I really can't experiment and let you know as I don't have the single SIM mobile. Sorry.

re
can't flash kinghunkis rom - it stucks in aroma after showing system requirements (possible reason - my hboot)
found a hboot for my device here : https://github.com/kmdm/ruuveal/issues
because flashing this is very dangerous - but i think i'll try out soon
when this hboot is not correct the required for my device or if damaged - it will destroy my device unrepairable
will tell you, when i have news
thanks and greetings

There are many chinese websites that are currently offering RUU's. Just use google translate to understand what they are for?
Hit thanks if I helped you.
re
thanks for your links
i tried both ruu's but couldn't flash
possible reason could be the cid (goldcard-method didn't work)
all attempts to flash only hboot didn't work (not allowed or signature verification failed)
it seems, that i have to wait for a new ruu

Sorry to know that nothing is working for you? Anyways, how about the new RUU provided jacktackle in the general section ? Did you try it?

Nope, here is the new link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/general/desire-816n-middle-east-t2839093. I am currently on that rom and it will install the hboot, bootloaders and OS and openDSPs again. So hopefully this should work on your piece.
