Prem root dinc 2 - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hey found this link is this unreal or real?
http://htcdroidincredible2.com/root-your-droid/
Dinc2

I read on clicked the link there is no option for the dinc2

That must be a mistake. If it was possible it would be all over this place. Would be nice, though.

Has anyone tried it?

If anyone read the site, it's for the inc1... unrevoked only supports inc1, not inc2.. nothing to see here.

I did find something interesting on the internet. I googled VIVO_W XB SHIP S-OFF and came up with a few threads in chinese of people that have this. I don't know if contacting them for their information would help us. Their software is the same as ours but showing s-off

From what I am reading, a lot of them were trying to flash IS roms onto S-OFF I2. They were *I AM GUESSING* probably told that they are buying an imported IS and doesn't realize it's actually an entirely different model.
Nothing really to see here in terms of breakthroughs... there's a way to S-OFF these VZW I2's... there's a list of address on their forums, but China is kind of far from NY.... haha
EDIT:
PS. There seems to be couple of reasons why they really like our I2s over their own domestic S710d. First being that ours are made in Taiwan instead of China, I am guessing the quality is better? and the Second being that it is said the domestic S710d are not S-OFF able as of right now, and only the VZW rom can support WCDMA on top of EVDO and 1X.
My own speculation, it seems like it's an XTC-clip based method from how people are describing it. I will be following their forum closely and will post here if found anything new.

Haha! my bad.

Bah. I wanted the Incredible 2, but maybe my OG Droid will have to keep kicking until they announce a phone officially with an unlocked boot loader. I don't think they'll do it retroactively, but I'd love them more if they do. I want an Inc 2!

i just got my inc2 from my second insurance claim this year, so i can't 'break' my phone to get one of the new unlocked ones, i really hope they unlock it with an ota, or maybe 'leak' the keys to some devs, so they can do it for us..

I've only had mine a couple weeks. I'm not the type to commit insurance fraud to try to get an unlocked one. I was just joking but I know claims will go up with some people trying to get a new unlocked one.
I have another upgrade in October so I can wait if necessary. I have a feeling they won't be retroactive but the codes may be leaked somehow.
Yup...Tapatalk'd

Ya I'm not either, I've dropped my phone off my balcony twice now in a year, but even if I was super tempted I couldn't anyway. Realistically they won't be retroactive but we can all hope they will leak the keys.

I don't see why all you guys are so doubtful that HTC will unlock phones that have already been released. The Inc 2 is less than a couple months old, there's no reason to believe that HTC would not apply their new stance to it. My worst case scenario is that we have to wait for the first OTA update (hopefully to GB) before it is unlocked. Even if they for some reason choose not to unlock it, the newer unlocked phones will almost certainly provide some insight on how to unlock this one. Have patience, this phone is pretty amazing without root anyway, there's no reason to be so desperate for it.

Here's to hoping that the policy reversal is retroactive! *clicks champagne glass to yours"

There's someone in the IS forum claiming they got prem root (heh, see what I did there?) without hardware. So far all that's been posted is a youtube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK_V7xo3qug
I'm taking this with a grain of salt, however. When I see the process reproduced by other people, or instructions I can follow and see for myself, I'll believe it then. Hopefully if the process is publicized it will also work on the I2, given how similar the devices are.
WE WILL SEE!
(I'm not posting the link to the thread because it's full of vitriol and has no substance nor information outside of the video concerning this revelation.)

Actually, where have you been? The IS has XTC Clip working on all but the Bell branded version of it, and that is the only unlock method available. The video seems to indicate, and the person who posted it implies, that a non hardware method was found, meaning no XTC Clip required.
I do read that forum on occasion in hopes that whatever they find works on our side as well So far almost all of the exploits found to work on the IS work on the I2 as well. The one difference in filesystems is probably the only thing that separates them enough for soft perm root on IS to fail on I2. I did say that I hope it works for us as well.

Technical reason for not upgrading to gingerbread if you want s-off?

OK, so we all know that if you upgrade to gingerbread OTA you'll lose the ability to s-off with alpharevx.
What we also know is that there will be a lot of people, myself included, who will begin visibly twitching when gingerbread is available and s-off isn't. i mean, here's this sexy update, full of tweaks, and we can't touch the sweet sweet goodness...
So here's my question - why? What is the technical reason behind it, and where did it come from? Did it come from alpharevx? Is it a real limitation, or is it one of those things we all "know" but isn't actually true? There's gonna be a lot of people who flash GB thinking "eh, there will be a fix for this too." On the surface of it, you gotta think there will be - new dinc2's will come with GB preinstalled at some point soon - what about those guys? xtc clip only?
well yea you can get a small fix now, and be stuck. or use the XTC clip and have goodies like this

CM7 is awesome as well. not too mention once root is around for more people, they will build some awesome ROMs. much more awesome than stock.
oh, i'm not going to be touching it, but i know many many people will.
to each their own. I thought of selling my inc2 before root. I'd rather pay $100 for root now than use a Thunderbolt. anyday.
i had used used xtc clip to get S-OFF , i am not sure if running the OTA GB update i will get a S-ON .

no it wont, nothing will..
well, both GB and S-OFF have been labelled as 'coming soon' recently. supposedly GB will start to become available this monday. as for S-OFF, its still TBA. I guess it just depends on you. I used to have an HTC HD2 and the best thing I ever did for it was load custom ROMs.
i've got zero interest in the thunderbolt. i think this is the best phone on VZ, right now. i'd much rather run CM7 or another rom five minutes after alpha is released than have GB now and then have to potentially wait longer.
i'm on the alpharev chat now, and it sounds like the reason is the exploit being used requires froyo - it's patched in gingerbread. i get the sense that if this were 2.3.4, we could use gingerbreak, but in 2.3.3, it's not gonna fly.

From what I understand 2.3.4 wouldn't help make gingerbreak possible since the exploit used by gingerbreak was explicitly patched already in RUU's that have leaked. If they've got it patched in 2.3.3 there's no reason it wouldn't also be patched in 2.3.4. Once security holes are found (and bottom line, yes, gingerbreak is a security hole) and patched they aren't re-opened on purpose.

you're a MOD?
I know this is a tad late now, but I'll give a real technical reason not to hit the GB leaks.
Once you S-OFF you can load a rooted version of the GB leaks and have the best of both worlds. You can't root the GB leak right now, but someone can take the leak, remove the locks, repackage it, and release it so that it's available with root access. This requires S-OFF and will not work for S-ON users at all.
So you have to ask: Do I want the GB leak or do I want a rooted GB leak?

It should work best with an R800x, considering that Fastboot is not locked on them.

This is the method I used to unlock my bootloader in 2 xperia plays. I used xda member jinx13 who unlocks phones to play it safe as AT&T has extra lock from what I heard. It was strange to me to use paperclip on testpoint & negative terminal like that, but it worked twice.

Nice. Lol and the "credits" was a lie and they made 100% profit from it. They probably LOL'd every time they looked at their PayPal accounts.

Im pretty sure it wasn't a scam. AT&T really had extra lock on bootloader. Where it tells you to push *73xxxxxx*(whatever it says), my phone said "bootloader unlock-NO." At least that's what I think. It was a while back. But either way this method had not been released to public & I had less risk of damage to phone by having some help.

Same here. I posted on the thread with my log, asking what is happening with it, and if R800x is supported...
It truly blows my mind how often these threads come up. If there was a way to flash custom kernels for free, everyone would do it and no one would pay. Why do you have to pay? To get credits that aren't any "free'er" to anyone else in the world. I don't get it, you tell someone their options, you point them in the right direction then they end with, ya, but can you do it for free? No, you can not. We need a sticky, this is ridiculous...

This was just to discuss if the free methods from other Xperias worked with ours. I am well knowledged that there currently is no free method.
Sent from R800x
But its been discussed before, and with a title like that you know people who arent as well knowledge in the XPlay are going to swarm in thinking they found that free unlock that everyone keeps hiding from them because unlocking is free and its all a conspiracy with people getting rich over pressing a button... or something to that effect. Personally Im tired on posting it over and over, and Im even more tired of those same people ignoring posts because they believe people are lying when they say you cant do it for free.

Getting a One X, should I update it?

So tomorrow I have a HTC One X being delivered
Super-excited, but I have one question - should I update it when I get it or leave 'as is'. Reason being as I don't want to prevent any possibility of being able to put CFW on the device. Give or take a few weeks I'll probably jump off Sense and go for Cyanogen or something.
I know this a very noob question - it's just I'm not familiar with this particular device - rather the Xperia Play and Wildfire
Also, any things I should know?
Thanks!

You can update it, it should'nt do any difference. But remember you can be charged for repairs from htc if you do. I did, they changed the motherboard but I still got it for free.
You could wait for s-off. _If_ they manage to crack the damn thing, you won't loose the warrany because the bootloader is still locked.
Must still must say that sense is really good, and the 2.05 coming soon is superb, and so far I havent rooted again yet.
Hope it helps you decide.
Don’t unlock it right away, because like Sckank said you’ll loose warranty. There are some common hardware issues with the phone (i.e WiFi antenna problems), look in the general section to find out more, so wait a while and test everything out before you attempt it, or better yet wait for S-OFF (which is what I’m doing).

hi,
became confused... :S
if was possible to make s-off you don't lose the warranty?
i know that you can reverted to s-on again ...but they will notice or not?
the bootloader can be relocked or isn't the same thing?
Nope if they can s-off then s-on is no problem and you're completely back to stock. And you don't have to agree to that you loose your warrany. And they can't see that.
Nope not the same thing, they will see that. It will say "relocked", not locked.
when you unlock without s-off, you need to pass through htc-dev, which will make it record your unlock status. and also, when you relock your bootloader, it will display "Re-Locked Bootloader" instead of :Locked Bootloader". With s-off, none of them will change.
EDIT : beaten. haha.
Still, a more complete answer about htc dev
thanks to both
Thanks guys!
I'll go ahead and update for now then.

I think it generally affects white and brighter backgrounds. I thought it might be 'normal' when I found various threads about 'stagelight' backlight leak, though this was after I'd given O2 a quick ring. Can't cancel the replacement now, just hope it's not a refurb replacement.
Not *too* bothered about it... it seems to have lessened since I first booted it up oddly.
All being said, I would consider this to be a defect really - the only time I've seen 'stagelight' bleed like this was after I had a smartphone go through the wash. HTC need to improve the manufacturing process considering the cost of these handsets near half a grand.

Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool 0.4pre4
At last, the time has come -- AlphaRev and unrevoked have come together to join our strengths and build an S-OFF tool for the next wave of phones. We're very excited about this, and we hope that you will be too! We've been working on this for a while, and we'd like you, our fellow developers, to get early access, so you can build awesome applications and amazing ROMs for everyone to use. So, today, we're releasing for you a developer preview of something that we call Revolutionary.
Revolutionary? Why the name? Well, this tool is revolutionary in a couple of ways. It's the first major collaboration between two development groups that we know of -- and in honesty, we've stood on the shoulders of other giants, too, in building this! It's revolutionary in some of the mechanisms by which we gain S-OFF; we have worked quite a while to build this, and we think that we've come up with a robust solution. And, we'd like to think of it not just as a revolutionary tool, but as a revolutionary itself! Over the past few months, our community has successfully convinced HTC and other vendors of the need to provide unlocked bootloaders for their phones. As we build this tool out to work with the unlocked updates, we're excited about the next wave of innovation that this tool can help spark.
Let's get started!
This software is a developer preview. We still haven't made it perfectly easy to use for everyone, but we want power users and developers to be able to get started. If you're not a developer, feel free to try it out anyway; but you'll have to be patient with us while we iron out the wrinkles.
All devices included in this release have been pretested. Please note, however, that bugs could still be present! If you're willing to accept the risks anyway, download the binary for your OS below, and generate a beta key through the application form that appears. In case we need to make changes to the tool, every phone has a unique beta key, so in this developer preview, you'll have to get a key for each phone you wish to unlock.
Before you begin, please carefully read our documentation page for this tool; that page also lists which devices (and which versions of those devices) are supported.
here is the actual website http://revolutionary.io/
here is the list of device, no HTC One devices
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
Where exactly did you find the info that it is for one x? Have you, as they state, read the documentation? No one x anywhere...
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk 2

Sorry but im new in the htc development and i had no ideea that it has been discussed.
And is just too much info , to read all the posts
All this leads nowhere. This is for snapdragon devices. This is not useable for tegra and had been discussed in depth in s-off thread. Believe me. The method they use its not applicable to tegra devices...

From what I have read that guyadams wrote In arhd thread, there we several reason to which it was closed so there is a correct answer out there for s-off.
Yeah some old news has cropped up but I needs to be all put I one place and go over it untill there is something which hasn't been tried.
I saw a thread about someone asking if people would send there phones away to Germany (out of the question) but as xmoo said that's how htc do it. There must be a way and someone must be very close otherwise the discussion wouldn't have been locked or removed.
We will find a way not long I don't think :fingerscrossed:

Oh well........
Ill se if i convince a friend who is manager in a giant phone company (ill say no name) if there is something that can be donne
I will work on this with tripnraver. When i had the sonyericsson xperia everybody said that is impossible to have CM and MIUI on that device but it was possible for him.
So maybe s-off will be possible in this case

!!!Duuhhhh!!
Very old tool now that was used for the sensation, evo etc phones. Used zergrush exploit I think. Old hole long since plugged. So doesn't even work on sensations anymore.
So definitely not a starting point. Someone please just delete this utterly pointless thread!!
oh and
I have been talking to my friend about the s-off thing and i was told that i can't get any info about this since he can loose his job for disclosing info to the public.
All he can say is that is a marketing thing about this s-off and a development thing too because this quadcore thing in this phones is very new and is a very well kept secret otherwise any phone company can make quadcore phones and is not in their best interest that everybody does that.
And on the other hand is the posibility to screw up our phones and that is not good either for them because everybody will look for their devices to be replaced in that case.
We will have the posibility for s-off but first this quadcore thing will have to be something like dualcore is now, meaning , something common.
Till then , only some very smart developer can unlock this mystery .
Good luck
anyway......for now whoever is looking into the s-off thing should look for a way around it because it cant be broken without rewriting the entire software ,and i mean everything "bios" and all and then they should have to rewrite the entire software like they do in the factory .

I did and it was super easy to do.. I use http://www.cellunlocker.net for all my unlocks
Sounds good, but i know there has to be a way for us to do it yourself. I guess thats what im looking for.
Its some math logic. Any ideas on that?
i prefer to do it myself.

I'm pretty sure if you just call Tmobile they'll give you the code, ya know.

your device must be fully paid, & you must have been a customer for at least 45 days.
if you satisfy those requirements, you qualify for a free unlock from tmobile.
otherwise, head on over to cellunlocker.net
you can thank me later.
just doing my research to make sure it will work in South Africa, if so, ill call them and see if i can work my magic or just head to that site
thanks for the info guys
Next google search is Rooting lol

dont bother calling dude,
their system wont even process your unlock request if you have not met the 2 requirements i mentioned in my last post.
read on their forum, if you active duty they can do that for you..but it did not have the requirements listed..

I'll call them. I get my phones free from a business relationship with Samsung, and I've been Tmo for almost 10 years. Woot!

I too will be taking this phone internationally. My phone is paid off and I have been on the prepaid for 6 months but post paid for 4 days. I wonder what tmobile will do with my request.
I bought a new S4 at full retail price from T-Mobile. I am travelling to Europe next week and wanted to get it unlocked. I tried to get it unlocked by chatting with a rep online and they said I had to be a customer in good standing for 40 days ( I just switched over from Sprint) and that they wouldn't even bother submitting the unlock request. This is NOT what is says on their website (see: support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588) Their website says that if you pay full retail price you only need to have an account in good standing to unlock. Based on what the website said, I went to the store, they took a look at the website and called up the unlock team and submitted an unlock request. I was supposed to get a response from the unlock team in 24-48 hours, but 96 hours later when I had still not heard from them, I just used cellunlocker.net. 10 mins and $24 later I got the code.
One thing to note: cellunlocker.net gives you a bunch of ways to enter the code, but the only way that worked for me was to insert a different SIM, so if you do get a code from them you may want to make sure you have access to a SIM on a different network.

Explain to me how it doesn't say 40 consecutive days + device paid in full please.

As I mentioned, I paid full retail price for mine. If you read the rest of that page there is a section for people who paid full retail price. There is no 40 day requirement in that case.
