So I did something stupid.... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I switched back to sprint since they made me an offer i cant refuse and I was getting ready to get my phone put back on sprint and i just realized I lost my micro SD card that i had my stock sprint recovery on.... does anyone have a link to the bone stock sprint rom? I need to reinstall that and start back over....
also I used unrevoked so i have the clockwork recovery how do i switch that to AmonRA

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs
Download OTA #7 updated, stock rom, rooted.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/PC36IMG.zip
Download that file, place on the root of your sdcard, then boot into the bootloader, accept update, reboot, then you'll be on amon_ra.

thanks.... now I just gotta find a good kernel now.... i got the sprint oem kernel running now... I just need to find something that runs good with both the stock sprint and king rom shift unleashed... Ill probably go back to netarchy thats been the most stable for me so far on other roms. I can tell sprint is hurting for customers.... they gave me a 1 year contract, 2 LG Optimus S, and 500 dollars in credit... so basically I have a 10 month contract.

Nice...and from what I here, netarchy kernels work well on sense roms.

Just noticed netarchy is a 2.2 and king Rom is 2.1 so I don't think they will work
Guess I'm on the hunt for a 2.1 kernel now that's like netarchy.. got my des app working again

Well my evo is in the sprint system and i can make and recieve calls but I have no web or MMS, I think the revol wireless settings are still in. I need an OTA update to update everything... only problem is I cant get OTA updates i think the revol wireless PRL is messing with my sprint OTA updateability... or some junk...
tried to flash a 60677.zip PRL via recovery but Amon Ra recovery popped an error about a script.
Anyone else taken their evo to one provider and have to change it back to sprint?

You can't flash prl in recovery, unzip it, put it on the root of your sdcard, type ##775# in the dialer, enter your MSL, choose update prl, choose the prl, click okay, hit menu, choose commit modification, reboot then update profile

How to flash back to sprint?

I had my phone flashed to cricket wireless
And i am now getting sprint -_-
How can i flash my phone back to sprint or could i just take it to sprint and tell them i bought it flashed and they get it fixed back on there network?
Download one of the official RUU roms from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060 and flash it. NOTE: You will lose root.
If you want a rooted version of the official rom, download the ODEXED version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874251
Either rom *should* help you out.

I think i did something wrong, the prl did flash though i checked in system info
and it is the 60650 one
And futher more i cant update prl from system info it just doesnt do anything when i click it.
And further more could someone get me a stock rom default everything link?
I want my phone just like as if i bought it out of the box have the activation screen and everything but its not like that now, im worried it wont work when i sign up for sprint and try and activate it further more it still has my old cricket # on the info should i leave this?

Are you sure this one will work? Im going to sprint today to sign up for there service.
You will not be wiping your SD card and I'm assuming your backups are on the card....right? As for it working, yes, your device will be as it was when you turned it on for the first time.

No, you haven't. You still can though, and I would suggest that. They are great vids and easy to follow along to. You can pause, stop, even rewind them to keep up
All kidding aside, check them out. It will get you where you want.

You might wanna try to flash eb13 and after you use odin to flash to eb13, connect to wifi and manually update your software via ota to ec05. Go to settings and click about phone then system updates and select update android. This should get you back on ec05. I had the same problem when i wanted to go back to ec05. But i gotta say the second time i flashed ef02 all my functions that didnt work previously now work flawlessly. Although i did redownload the ef02 file again so maybe my original one was a bad download...Good luck to you...Dont forget to update us....

I would have to use another rom just to fix it...i just want to restore it back to stock with root but i have yet to sucessfully achieve that....would appreciate that i looked at the videos but none showed how to restore back to stock

Wow. You must live under a rock...LOL. Or don't read threads before you post. Gingerbread man! Gingerbread! If you want it then you need to be completely stock. You could also flash a custom GB ROM.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
If you were running syndicate and you let the ota update run, then you lost your root. Your running "stock" gingerbread now. No more clockwork mod. You have to re-root your phone by flashing the cwm 3.0.0.1 tar with the phone in download mode. Then flash a different kernel first. There's a couple on here to chose from and they are both wonderful. and then you can install an EI22 rom of your choice.

Otherwise if you are on the EC05 modem you can update your modem from here:

And then flash any EI22 ROM that strikes your fancy.

Samsung Epic update qbking77

I watched QBking77 's video for the samsung epic 4g that he released on oct 23 i believe. This video explained how to gain superuser access and how to root. I did this fine and I know its rooted. I just don't know what I am supposed to do next now that this new (gingerbread) update has been released. Am i able to update now that i am rooted and have superuser access? is this what i should do? I was hoping to have the most up to date of everything and it seems to me that ice cream sandwhich or something like that is hte number 1 thing.

You can either Odin back to EC05 to accept the OTA (cannot do rooted) or simply flash a new Gingerbread ROM, a bunch of them in Development, and then if you want (don't need to) if you are on baseband ending in EC05 can flash the file that will update your modem to EI22 (the latest modem). qbking77 has videos for all this stuff too.
Well. what do you recommend? I am not an expert at this and i don't know the best answer. I still have EC05. The only thing ive done is add an open garden and bought tegra overclock and have it overclocked ot 1.52 or so.
Thanks again for your help.

so will i still be on FROYO if i flash one of these recommended roms?
If i heard you correct, i will be flashing a rom which is like an optimized/ specialized OS for android's FROYO build. And then I will get the EI22 flashable updater in the modems thread (EI22 is gingerbread?).
Just so i understand hte process, what is the point of flashing a rom before updating to Gingerbread?
Also, i will not be updating with sprints OTA update because that will mess stuff up?

No you will have Gingerbread. The modems are independent of the ROM and your choice. The ROM I suggested is EI22 firmware code optimized GB. Then if you want the baseband (MODEM) to be updated you can flash the modem delta I told you about. The OTA will not mess anything up, just more steps and more work to root.

I have the exact same specs as above:
model number :sph-d700

Kernel Version 2.6.32.9

I am rooted and have clockwordmod 2.5.1.0 because I did some one click root thing a while back. I tried the OTA update (because last time it worked, I just lost my root) but this time it didn't.
I followed the instructions on how to unroot in QBKing77's video on youtube watch?v=xJ5XZIlGwNY (Sorry too new to post links) with no luck. I even watched a couple of other videos that said they were updated versions, but I think they were for the Galaxy S II.
I was trying to go back to stock and get the OTA update, but thought I bricked my phone because all I would get was the little phone yellow exclamation point and computer. Every .tar or whatever file I had in the PDA would fail. I changed out usb plugs and tried two different computers both on windows 7 one 64 bit and the other 32.
Is it really as simple as me booting in to clockworkmod and selecting a gingerbread ROM? I thought I ran across a "really close to stock" GB ROM but with a couple of fixes.
Is it really that easy, and I wasted about 4 hours trying to unroot my phone?
Many Thanks In Advance.
Ricky
The latest for the Epic is Gingerbread. Click on my signature that says Are You Legendary. Download that ROM. Flash that ROM in clockworkmod. Check Qbking's videos on flashing a ROM. Then you will have the latest Gingerbread. Then go into the top of Development and go into the modems thread and get and flash the ec05toei22 file.

Rick and bret, you both are on ec05 but neither can get ota to ei22 cause you are rooted. Your 2 options:
1. Odin to stock ec05 using qbking77's video. You will then get the ota. This will wipe your contacts, etc. So BEFORE doing this, go to the market and get both call log and sms backup & restore. You can also export contacts to sd. Once on ec05 base, restore all. Do it before ota. No root or cwm. You will have to do the new 1click video specific to ei22. Look for the update video.
2. Do a backup in cwm. Find an ei22 rom and put it on your sd card. I recommend cleangb by toadlife. Get the rfs version. Boot into cwm and install zip from sd. Select the rom file. When done, you will be rooted ei22 w/cwm. Then boot cwm and restore/advanced/restore data. You will have all your stuff back.

I have a couple more questions.
What is the point of ODIN?
What is the point of clockworkmod and where do i get the most recent?
Why aren't we flashing? to ice cream sandwhich which is the most recent version out there?
thanks.
Also, which program flashes us? is this odin that does this?
If you are not confident with all of this, research.
CWM - Thing on the phone that flashes custom ROMs and certain modems (replaces the normal recovery) To find the newest, look for it and then flash the zip. It is specific for the epic so make sure you don't get one for the wrong phone
Odin - Flashes things from the computer. Used to downgrade modems or go to complete stock or flash an Odin rom (rare)
We don't have ICS because it takes a lot of time for our devs to port that to the epic. It isn't just copy and paste. It requires a lot of hard coding and will take a long time and we are waiting until cm9 to even start to get in to it. Also sprint and samsung EOLd the epic so we will never get ICS.
Gingerbread actually came out on July 24, 2011 but we just got it recently on the epic

Ill give you a step by step.
You probably already have CWM.
First put legendary on the SD card then follow this:
1. Watch and follow this http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=qnk6lfBh5rI
2. In CWM (volume down, camera, power while off) choose wipe data, then choose zip from SD card (camera button to select, volume to move, back to go back), then navigate to legendary and select it

Sprint GS3 Flashed to Page Plus??

OK I got the phone flashed over to Page Plus. But for the life of me I can't get into EPST ##3282#. No matter what I do the keypad dialer will not open this menu.
YouTube & Play Store will not work over data.
I'm on Freeza stock MD4 rom . Stock phone keypad
I googled and I've read that the ###3282# code was blocked in the MD4 update. So I'm assuming that I need to flash a rom that was b4 the MD4.
Could someone please tell me what rom I'm looking for?
Or unless someone knows a different way to get into EPST?
Thanks a million

My SPH-L710 was flashed to pageplus 4 days ago. What i had to do, was go to a stock, unrooted rom, let them do the flashing process, and then restore a nandroid of a different rom. I do not suggest rooting the stock rom after the flash, because it broke my wifi. I did a factory reset using Philz CWM, i wiped the dalvik cache. I rebooted the phone, rerooted, and rebooted. Still no wifi with stock MD4 that was rooted using the GS3 all in one tool.
I restored a nandroid of The Peoples Rom, and Mother of all Roms. My calls, texts, and 3G data all work with both roms. I do not know about MMS, because i do not use MMS. TPR and MOAR are both prerooted ROMs.

OK I got the phone flashed over to Page Plus. But for the life of me I can't get into EPST ##3282#. No matter what I do the keypad dialer will not open this menu.
YouTube & Play Store will not work over data.

If you decide to go the earlier version (before MD4) route go to Billard412's thread. One flash solution. Read the OP carefully.
Billards412's thread here:
MD4, MD1 for both 16 & 32 gb versions

This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099 has a stock MD4 that also resets your flasg count. Not that the second part matters in this case. The ROM is confirmed to be stock, unrooted, and MD4 update. No surprises like messed up features or random reboots. Its a clean MD4. I would suggest making sure you have a nandroid for whatever ROM you want to use as your daily driver. So, nandroid your daily driver, go back to stock, and then restore your nandroid. Thats that i did. my talk, text, and 3G work. As far as i know, switching ROMS DOES break MMS. Of you cannot live without MMS, im afraid youll have to remain stock as far as i know. The person that flashed my GS3 wrote their own software, and has years of experience in the business. I am not saying he knows every trick, but ive been told that it is impossible to properly flash the GS3 while it has a ROM with certain custom features, or OC/UC.
Thanks, I done flashed like 4 different roms since the Page Plus flash and everything still works sms/mms/3g on each one. Her daily driver is Cm10.2 on this phone.
The guy told me if I flash a rom avoid firmware as that would wipe or corrupt the Page Plus flash. And he would charge me to have a refreshing.
He got everything flashed except he couldn't get into the ##3282# to program whatever he needed to in there.

But I get home and flash a stock unrooted rom via recovery hopefully to see if the ##3282# works if so then take it back so he can finish
