I've been searching and trying different suggestions, but nothing has worked.
I have CM 6.1.1 installed on my phone and I have installed a theme. I am trying to find a process that works to install another theme and to update certain parts of a theme (battery icon, wifi..etc). I've tried wiping cache & delvik, using ninjamorph, metamorph, update.zip. The closest I've gotten was updating battery icon using metamorph - it changed the images and would load, but then everything would foreclose.
As of now it seems that the only way to do this would be to reflash the rom and then put in a new theme.
Thanks for your help
When you flash a theme it replace system images. So say you try 2 themes, theme 1 does have new images for battery icon... theme 2 does not. If you flash theme 2 over theme 1 you will still have theme 1's battery icon. The way I do it is to re flash the rom between themes. As long as you are using the same rom no need to wipe and re set up your screens, just flash rom and flash new theme. As far as doing "mashups" of different themes I suggest doing a lot of reading the answers are out there. Try the general android themeing sub forum for all devices.
and then there was root....
First post guys -
I'll start off with what I'm running:
Unrevoked Root
Clockwork Mod 2.6.0.1
Toastmod SBC 4.3.2 More HAVS CFS Kernel
MikFroyo 4.4 ROM
Vanilla Lockscreen Mod
Custom Animations
Problem:
I've tried to flash a few themes now, the ones I desire to have working on the flat back or white theme for MikFroyo 4.4. Can't get any of them to work, I just bootloop. Although this is my first post, I've been messing around with my rooted phone since I got it on launch week... so, I like to think of myself as not much of an amateur. As frustrating as it is, I just can't get this work work correctly. Any suggestions?
Also, tried wiping/reflashing rom/reflashing kernel/flash theme and it still bootloops. Tried downloading the themes over several times thinking the files were corrupt - no dice. Is it because I have the custom animations/mods flashed on this rom that I can't install a theme?
Thanks a ton for reading.

try this
Go into recovery and Wipe:All data/factory reset, data, cache, and Dalvik-cache.
do not reboot yet.
Flash MikFroyo 4.4 first and reboot it after into the ROM
Hold down the power-button and reboot into recovery
Flash any themes or animations you may want. (Note: always install themes before Vanilla Lockscreen or you will have to reset the phone again due to bootloops)
I think the bootloop happens....
I think the bootloop happens because Vanilla lockscreen removes some neccessary HTC Sense files for the lockscreen. So when you flash something over Vanilla lockscree, like a theme, it looks for the lockscreen file which has been replaced.
That was the same process that I went through because of bootlooping. I am by no means a developer but it was the only thing that made since to me as far as the bootloops were concerned.
I use CM7 nightly builds and I have bootlooped a couple of times. Try going to a backup that worked, and make sure its the original boot animation for that rom, go into recovery and clear your caches, then re-flash the rom, the re-do your animation; worked for me.
For some reason, mik roms can handle other themes. Then again unless he made some changes to his rom lately, some themes will not worck; I had the same problem.
Sent from my evil evo!!
I will try this, thanks fellas. Didn't even dawn on me that the vanilla lockscreen would conflict with the theme, doh!
I was having the bootyloops issue after an attempted theme install. Now I know why. I have the lockscreen mod on there. Thanks!!! I'm waiting for final v4.5 and will wait to do the lockscreen last after I do a fresh install.
Thanks again!

Hi,
I rooted my DHD and flashed Revolution HD (2.1) ROM yesterday for the first time!! This site helped massively so thanks to all the devs and posters for the information!! I do have a couple of questions though, please excuse me if these are a bit obvious but until yesterday i had no idea how to even root it!
So i flashed the ROM and rooted fine, then i flashed a custom theme as well from clockwork mod recovery (installed from zip on sdcard). If i want to change the theme to a different custom one do i have to flash it from CWM recovery or can i do it directly from the CWM app??
Also if i now flash a different custom theme will all my user data (apps, settings, media etc.) be preserved?
Basically i like to change my theme quite often but if im going to loose my data everytime then ill have to pick more carefully!
Thanks in advance for your help and thanks again to all the devs and posters for making my DHD even better!!

Welcome on board ARHD user
You flash theme from CWM. Changing themes means giving new look to your phone, so unfortunately you ll have to personalize everything once again. Flashing themes would not remove your data but only your personalized home screen. You can however try mybackup and see if that helps you restore your settings.
Thanks for the reply!! Just flashed a new theme (revolution) and loving it.
One more question though, im trying to flash a different boot screen and animated framework to the theme but its not working
Im putting the zip on my sd card and flashing via CWM as i did with the theme but its not applying for some reason, is there something im missing?? Both the bootscreen and framework are made for the theme by the way!
Thanks

have you replaced the bootanimation.zip file? i do not know if you need to flash the bootanimation. I have flashed splashscreen but not the bootanimation so i do not exactly know. But i m sure if you replace bootanimation.zip file in /system folder it would work.
Thanks again for the reply. For some reason i went back to recovery 2.5.1.3 to flash something else and just tried the boot animation just in case it made a difference and its all working fine now!!
Cheers
Im having the same problem, Im running DHD Revolution Gingerbread beta 3.1 and the boot animations never work. Even if I do replace the bootanimation.zip file. Changed permissions to the zip file too.
Seems there is a difference in opinion on which bootanimation file to replace. I replaced the one in system/customize/resource.
Any ideas?
Gingerbread works completely differently i think. There is script that also needs to be modified to change the boot animation, i dont know what or where im afraid!
I was on gingerbread for a few days (i think it was mike's second beta) and didnt like it much, so im back on froyo leedroid for now. Might change when there is a few more themes about, bugs are all sorted and custom kernels are available!!
Hello all,
So I'm having a problem flashing a them. I do the backup and the wipes and install it from the sd card fine. Reboot it and all but when the phone comes back on, it stays on the splash screen of the theme. I've let it run for at least an hour, pulled the battery and turned it on again and the same thing. I've tried 2-3 different themes to flash, and just the splash screen comes up and continues to play and that's it. I've tried flashing them again and the same thing. Can someone help me out? Thank you!
What theme are you trying to flash?
-Is it for the rom you're on
-If on CWM 3.0+, is it edify compatible?
-Is the file meant to be flashed from recovery?
I'm trying to flash rEVOlution and the matted blues theme. I'm running on cwm 2.6.0.1. I'm not sure if its edify or wether the themes are compatible with the rom I'm running... how do I check that?
Sorry for the noob questions, I'm still rather new with the whole flashing themes and all.

I would try updating Clockwork and flashing. If that doesn't work, I would try redownloading the theme, maybe you got a corrupt download. Make sure you are flashing a theme meant for that exact ROM (eg. sometimes X theme might only work with version 2, for example, and you're running version 3)

I used rom manager to update cwm and it updated. how do I update flashing? after the cwm update, which now i'm running 3.0.0.5, i tried to flash the theme and it said installation aborted, something about update scripts?
once again, thank you guys for your help! I'm not sure what else to do? sorry for the noob questions, once again.
What theme on what ROM? Are they compatible? If so then I don't know but if you posted your Q in the thread where you got the theme or in the thread for your ROM you'd probably get better answers. Just an idea.
Hi,
I'm trying to install Kalagas Mixed Theme v15.0
I'm using Wanamlite 5.9 and JKAY.
I tried to install the theme using TWRP recovery, but it didn't work.
What do you think is the problem? I guess one of Wanamlite/JKAY/TWRP is preventing me from installing this theme.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance
Ok, I've found the problem. I am posting the solution here for other who might encounter the same issue.
The problem is with TWRP compatibility with vrthemes. Here are simple instructions how to install the theme via TWRP: http://teamw.in/VRThemes
Worked like a charm for me.

Hi Animor,
Kalagas Mixed theme is reallly very nice and beautiful, I have already installed on my device few days back. I advice you not to use TWRP. TWRP is not compatiable. There are other methods but simple to use Philz touch recovery for flashing Kalagas theme- google search xda for Philz touch recovery then flash it on ur device after flashing reboot into philz recovery 1st do wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, flash install zip of kalagas mixed theme. Pl let me know if it not works for u. I have other methods also.
Thank you for your help!
I have followed the instructions I linked on my second post, and it looks like it's working. The theme installed successfully via TWRP.
I just had to override one file in the zip.
So I believe that the method in this link worked properly. Is there any risk I should be aware of now, after installing?
