Open the qwerty keyboard, and hold the enter button when that message appears, and you should get into the boot menu that way as well.

yeh, just hold down the reset and off button like you do for a hard reset, but also while doin that press the center button(the one inbetween the dirrections) make sure you press all these at tyhe same time...
many thanks trad,
I have found it. like what u said the hard reset way while simultaneously also holding the record button.( the ba site on bootloader mentioned hard reset way plus holding the camera button. in my case it didnot work with the navigational or the camera button but in conjunction with the record button)
doing the hard reset wAY plus holding the navigational button in my experience worked with my xda2.
deeply appreciated..rgds
camera button (left side)
power button (top right)
insert stylus (bottom left)
Do all at the same time
It worked for my UK o2 XDAiis

Has this been a recent occurence? if so, just so reset and you should be fine. If this doesn't work, you can always hard reset but make sure to back-up your valuable data. Sometimes my phone locks up as well and I just turn it off and it fixes it. The other thing is if you have flashed several roms you may need to reflash your original rom first, then hardspl before flasing custom roms as Zocster, Veyka and others have alluded to in the forums. There is plenty of material on this through the Hermes forum.
If the above issues were not solved by hard reset there is a good chance it is a hardware issue if this is the case it could be resolved by taking the device apart and seeing if there are any loose cables or problems with the buttons not connecting to the main board.

It would more than likely be the dpad connector has come loose. You will have to take it apart and reconnect the cable. you may also start seeing white screens if it is not fixed. Here is the dismantling guide, picture 9 is the one that you need to ensure is connected properly. Here is another one that is in english
finally pro solved
hi all there , thanks for all the help . my pro got solved , i just opened and tighten all the screw . all the pro got solved

Don't thinks so... unless the app provides this (exit or something) but this is application specific.
Android depends on the back button, and the menu button.
I'll give you a example, i installed android on a Diamond. Now The diamond has 5 buttons in the front, 2 on the side, and one on the top.
The Dial and the other one are pretty obvious. The back key is just that, the BACK key. Now, the HOME key, is the menu key. I was missing the Home key, and really missing, like, how the hell do i get out of here?
Until i noticed, the Power button only powers the phone, it does not powers off.
When the phone is on, it acts as the HOME button.
Hardware keys, are a must on the droid...
You could use atools and reassign the back hardware button to one that works.
Hi
I have some roms that need to press the ENTER button to calibrate the controls like "Cruis'n USA".
But I can't find anywhere the Enter Button.
I did made some search on internet and they say we can press the F2 button. But i do not have this button on my shield...

Just found it out.
You have to press both Coin and Start on Screen. In that way you will see the mame menu where you can configure a lot of things.
The only problem I do not know how to 'unassign' a button after I have assigned it to something like the Left Trigger on Shield.

Fellow MAME fan, you can also press down on the analog sticks. This click function is what I use for coin and start.
I have replaced the screen on my Optimus G (E975k, Telstra) and the menu button works whilst the back is off, but as soon as I put the back on, the menu button doesn't work... super annoying!
I'm not sure if my clumsy attempts to replace the screen have damaged the synaptics ribbon and the cover going on puts pressure in the right spot to stop the ribbon cable making the connection for that button or what, but I'm looking for help getting around this.
Is there a way to make longpress on back arrow to open the menu, if so then 90% of my problems are solved, I can force the onscreen nav buttons to show up and that is great but it seems like a waste of space if I can work around it with a back button long press... I tried a few key remapping apps but they do not seem to be able to do what I want to do... if there is a custom rom that would support this then I would just flash that I guess.
Anyway, help from anyone would be appreciated
Thanks
EDIT: Okay so I edited /system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8064.kl
changed
Key 115 VOLUME UP
to
Key 115 MENU VIRTUAL
This allows me to use the volume up button as the menu button, so I'm out of trouble, but I would still like to map back button long press to the duty rather than lose my volume up button.
Hey man, if ur on stock i think u can use xposed modules for long press behaviors and custom button actions.. Usr gravity box etc.. If u like custom rom, many offer custom button actions
