Yes, you did a backup before flashing anything, right? You could also reflash the ROM which is probably still on your SD card. Boot into Clockwork with 3 finger and reflash ROM.

Checking MD5 sums…
Erasing boot before restore…
Restoring boot image…
Error while flashing boot image!
I think my HBOOT isnt the write version but im not sure.
Did you change the name of it and use invalid characters, such as a space? Or seems your backup may be corrupted.

What recovery are you currently using? Clockwork? If so, what version?
Well, do you have signature verification off? And what's your bootloader say? Have you switched recoveries in the process?

Yes they are off, What info do i need form my bootloader, And yes I went from Clock work to the green one that starts with a A then back to Clockwork.
Well thinking back, bootloader wouldn't matter, as long as you're rooted. And well are you trying to restore an amon_ra backup from clockwork?

You can't switch recoveries like that. The recovery you used to backup is the one you must use to restore. Backup with clockwork you have to use clockwork to restore you can't use RA.

Not sure I'm following ya but if you want to go back to green aka RA then there is a thread in DEV. on how to do it. The pc36img is the easy way. I think its pc36img any way can't quite remember. You put it on your SD boot to hboot and it will ask if you want to flash it. Basically

I just made a backup and none of them will restore. No matter how old or new
How are you doing it? Are you choosing to install zip from sd card? If so... that wont work. Go into backup and restore and restore from there. Make sure to wipe everything first.

[Q] ROM Manager Backups Failing

Everytime I back up with ROM Manager it completes and when I do a restore it goes to my lock screen then goes back to the CM7 splash screen.
Is there a way I can verify my back ups? Any idea what is going wrong here or how to fix it? Using CWM 3.0.0.8

I'm using CM7 as well, and CWM3.0.0.7. You can use root explorer, or equivelant, and check in /sd card/clockworks/backups. If the backup worked properly it should be listed in there. Also, I have found it more reliable to go into recovery and do the backup manually from there.
Also, when you restore/flash, it's a very good habit to do a full wipe first. That is possibly the problem you are having when you restore.

I am doing full wipes. The backups are there. Like I said it restores up until my lock screen then just goes back to the CM7 boot loader. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Had this problem. Had to do Advanced Restore one-by-one.

So I think I solved the problem. My SD card needed to be reformatted. Did a backup/restore and it worked fine this time. I guess they just have to be reformatted every once in a while?

Did you have an EXT4 nandroid backup as well?
Sponged...not bricked. You cannot restore a full RFS nandroid on an EXT4 file system. You should use Titanium to back up apps and data. You can use the nandroid to restore data only in the advanced section. You can also try restoring the nand of beforeExt4 or whatever it is called.
Maybe this could help you restore your phone back to its old glory.

What version of Clockwork is it from? Before 3.0.2.5 the kernel was not backed up so you have the corrupt kernel still after the restore. Restore your nandroid and flash another kernel before booting like Genocide and see if that helps.
What is with everyone saying there phone is bricked? A brick means no recovery and no download mode. Use odin or heimdall to flash a tar. Or try to flash something else from recovery

Not the case for me, I made a backup with the backup/restore feature running ClockWorkMod 2.6.0.1 (somewhere around that version ) and was successfully able to restore it using ClockWorkMod 3.0.0.1.

1. Has the backup somehow become corrupt?
2. Are you restoring it from a different evo?

Restoring backup has nothing to do with unrooting anyway. When you run the ruu, its going to wipe everything. And next time, use amon ra
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

Because the system data will be different, and can and most likely will cause problems.
The best thing too do is backup your launcher settings and apps via titanium, then restore them on the new evo, though when restoring the app, ONLY do apps+data, NOT system settings.
The problem lies within your first post you cannot wipe boot with clockwork. You need to download and flash vrsuperwipe or calkulins format all. Then restore your backup because it is failing to flash your boot.img on top of an unwiped boot.

I'm going to repeat what I just said; it doesn't matter. When you unropot, everything will be wiped anyway. You will loose your data and have no way of getting it back unless you back up apps and texts before running ruu
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.

Heeeelp!!! Stuck in bootloop!!!

Hi, guys, I have the flashing of custom roms down to an art now, but I'm trying to return to stock and now i have bootloops. I wiped the cache and dalvik cache, and wiped user data. I then selected to restore my nandroid backup, which was successful, but now I'm stuck in a bootloop when attempting to power on. It still shows my custom splash screen for a second then switches to stock splash screen and continues with the boot. Once it fully boots then it will reset. When I changed the splash screen I did use the p32img.zip method, but before I did the restore I renamed it so it wouldn't load it. Any ideas why it still shows my custom splash, and more importantly, what am I doing wrong to create the bootloops. I've considered just flashing a stock rom to replace my nandroid just in case I backed it up incorrectly (which is possible since this is my first phone I've done this on). Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
What ROM was your backup? Restoring a nandroid won't change the splash.

it was the just the stock rom. 2.3.4 gingerbread. strange thing i just noticed is that if i boot into bootloader then connect to pc and reboot, then it won't bootloop....why is that? should i just flash a different stock rom and set that as my backup or are there things in the original nandroid that are specific to my phone? thanks for the reply by the way.
