Sorry I'm very new to this but I'm trying to make some icons for kings new shift port but I'm not sure how to get the colors right I want something like cm7 green color with the glow not that ugly og color that comes with the phone and I don't want it to change color when the battery drops any help would be awesome I'm sure I'll get some thats why I love xda.
Edit: I'm on the kitchen now and looking at the icons can I just pick one of the (black status bar icons) then upload the files needed ? Could it really be that easy ? I ask cause theres one there that has pretty much what I'm looking for.

I hear ya, only way you will feel comfortable is to just play around man, then it starts to flow. What you mean you can't get the sdk working? I used to have a ton of sdk problems in windows, now I dual boot Ubuntu (Linux) and it amazes me how everything "just" works in Linux (which was to be expected lol)

I have vista I'm thinking if installing ubuntu seems it will be easier for me I don't know if my wife will like that though LOL its really her computer shed pissed I even use it now that I got a android .
On the uot when I pick something from icons (black status bar icons) I picked G15 Androidian thats all I want how do I get that to work I can see what it looks like do I just go right to file upload and upload the files I need to or is there something else I need to do first I'm sure I'm missing something.

Just upload the files you need (framework-Res.apk, systemUI.apk, and com.htc.resources.apk) then press submit it should work; assuming you're still on the kings sense rom.

Yeah dude its pretty easy now im sure you got it. Once it cooks your file you will have to wait anywhere from 5 min to 1hr. Just remember your pickup number lol.

Ok i picked what i wanted but when i go to upload the files i need it seems it freezes on me and its not uploading all the way does it take a really long time or is there something wrong here?

Are you by chance using google chrome? I had that issue on chrome, switched to Firefox and it ran fine. It shouldn't take longer than a few mins to get the files up unless you have dial up internet.

No I'm using Firefox also and i have clear wire for internet same as my evo the phone is faster though LOL really I've retried this a few times now and it stops uploading at the same spot every time I'll keep trying I guess its my internet and it sucks the kitchen keeps closing on me and tells me to wait.
Can this b done on the phone cause not joking its faster then my computer?

That's very strange man I literally just made a theme for CM7 theme engine and it worked fine an hour ago. My internet sucks also maybe its an issue with the kitchen ATM. Hmmm

Correct. You only check what you want/need that you're adding for your zip. Ex, you found a set in the kitchen you like, check only that and it will build the zip with the files you updated.

I'm using linux and trying to edit these images with GIMP is extremely hard to make them look smooth. I never used GIMP I'm use to Photoshop and my laptop won't boot up with Windows 7 I think my partition is corrupted. So I'm stuck with linux until I can figure out how to fix my laptop. Would someone mind editing these 4 images with the color code 8d8d8d? To match my other Gingerbread icons the time it would take to fix my laptop I would already have left for work I just need those images to release the final to my rom.
Solved-Can someone help me find these four images in the status bar that has the charcoal blackground. I just need the name of the images or if you know exactly where they are that would be even better. I've been looking all day and can't find them. I've extracted 8 roms and some themes and still can't find them.

Text message notification is in system\app\Mms.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_notify_sms.png
4G icon is in com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawable-hdpi but I dont see the one with the !. There is another one in res\drawable\
3G icon. The only place I found it was in com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawable\
The USB icon is in framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_sys_data_usb.png
Though I think I've changed this one before and it didnt take so there might be another one located somewhere else.
There also might be more of the other icons in additional spots but these are all I could come up with. Hope this helps.

Thanks A lot man I was would have been looking forever for the text message notification.
The 4G notification I found but I don't think that's the one that shows up but I'll try modifying it anyway to see if it works.
3G Thanks I wasn't sure if that was the hotspot image or not.
The usb samething happened to me also.
I'm trying to do the last fixes before I take my rom out of beta and those 4 images was giving me the hardest time ever. I appreciate it

Ok this is the first time I ever used CM anything. I figured out how to get the gapps but how to integrate my DB contacts with my reg. Ones? I've been on myn's so I don't know what I have been missing. I even read the wiki on this.
1. Fb integration
2. Changing toggles in notification bar.
3. Finding a red/black theme
4. Swype for cyan ?
5. Anything else useful I should know.

By DB contacts do you mean from a microsoft exchange account? Best to export them to a .vcf file and import them to your phone.
1. install facebook, under settings, accounts and sync, check the sync contacts box. That'll link it.
2. Settings, cyanogenmod settings, interface, notification power widget.

4. Go onto swype's website, sign up NOW, they'll send you an email with instructions. Do it now because its a beta that will close soon. Its still free.

I flashed the themes from the destroyer ROM over CM7 and they work great as well. They will give you a lot of options, about 13 in the theme manager.
Contrary to what the person above me said, most themes you no longer need to flash. CM has the T-Mobile Theme Engine now, which just lets you side-load an APK, then select the theme in the Theme Manager app, then reboot. That's it!
No more flashing crap that breaks on every other update.
where are they? My CM theme manager only came with 3 options. Love to get more easily

All over the place! There's some in the Market, and dozens posted in all of the Themes sections here on XDA. You could give BlueBuzzer or Honeybread a try, for example.
Remember, just download the APK, install the APK, select the theme in the manager, and then reboot. No flashing or anything. Taking a backup beforehand though wouldn't hurt.
The red CM7 THEME is amazing. I would like to know why my juice defender isn't working though. I cannot accurately judge my battery life but I know Juice would help me.

I don't use it personally, but not all apps are compatible with 2.3 [gingerbread] yet, so you may have to wait.
It's probably cause I'm running an older version. Don't really like the new UI. I am gonna try installing a different version to see if it makes a difference. Now I understand what all this GB hype is about.

Well I think that is what you're looking for. You do that method, except he used "karadorde" for his phone, and I put it teh roxxorz on mine. You can make the text say whatever you want it to. And mine shows up like that on the lock screen and notification bar.
It worked. I used AndroZip and Terminal Emulator. Wasn't hard I just didn't read the second set of steps cause I thought it was an adb only thing. It effin' worked I'm "pimpin'" now hahaha.

Edit: used root uninstaller to install it to system & it worked, now only if i can get to use less memory when its running itll be perfect. can you optimize .jpg like you can with .png???

Edit: HELLS YEAH!!!!!! works like a champ perfect way to make your favorite bootanimation(up to 100 images...) into a LWP!!!!!!

But like when I make whatever I want, let's say a battery icon, and I go to summary and press submit to kitchen does it need to load a new page or what? Do I get some kind of notification or way to know that It was Successfully submited? And how do I know what file is mine when I pick it up lol? Where is the name of myy file?

Are you uploading your framework-res, systemui and twframework? Then in summary you hit submit and it tells you your filename to expect and then a link to click on to watch folr it.

That and upload system files needs to be checked. Then the boxes will appear for the 3 files it needs you to upload from your ROM.

ya i know about the 3 files
so i just made something and submitted it and now waiting to pick up
it still says cooked files 0 for some reason.. shouldnt that b a 1 now? it gave me my file name and gave me the link to the pickup page so im guessing it worked but at the pickup page it still says "Your recently cooked files (0)"
anyway.. i just wanted to ask about the status bar. Does it work for ours with our widgets? i dont see anywhere over there that lets me edit the widgets for a galaxy phone so does that mean my status bar wont have the widgets in it?

That's usually caused by the apks you've uploaded are not correct file type or are unable to be modded....or couble be corrupted

Yeah I got the sh&tF*ck error with CM7 Crystal theme. No one tried to help from their thread. They may have gotten corrupted in the upload process. Pull the clean ones straight out of the ROM's zip file.
Click the link in my sig for odexed theme guide. Works for deodexed too, just substitute the right files instead of the ones I give.

I did get something to work tho I used clean gb el30's files and put some stuff on it aand it worked like blue overscroll glow and a different font and even boot ani. So I guess ill play with it a little more some other time
I did also try to do one thing. I tried to change some app icons
I went into the email app and looked in res/drawable hdmi (or whatever it is) and replaced the png called "icon" (which had a pic of the email icon) with my own which I renamed to "icon" but when I flashed it it didn't change not sure why tho.

do framework apk's need to be signed?
i decompile framework with apk tool. i get no errors. edit and xml and then recompile. then sign. then replace the Roms framework with the modded one. i flash and the bootanimation keeps going and going. what am i doing wrong? i need alot of help. please dont point me to threads. help me.
i edit the strings.xml files
i am getting a yml file that says:
version: 1.4.3
apkFileName: framework-res.apk
isFrameworkApk: true

No, it should not have to be signed. I never sign the ones I edit but then again I don't edit the xmls.

btw if your pc is slow run disk defragmenter about 20 times and it should speed it up

lol do it! haha. i have an i5 but u should get an i-7 cus it has hyperthreading and already unlocked and ready to overclock. that would be better! that was my mistake-.-

it is a quad-core. but i-7 has 8 threads. not just 4 like i5 xP
to down a autosign software can resolve it.
Yes you need to sign it I gave you a adroid signer that will work perfect sorry I forgot to mention it

lol ok. yes ive been using it. but someoene else told me not to sign framework-res.apk so i havent been but leemme signit this time to see if it works.
is it poosible to change what things say. cus i wanna change how it says before u power off. it says your phone will not shut down. i want to change that can i do it this way? or is impossible?
eDIT; ok now i know its the stupid apk tool. ive tried everything. ive decompiled then recompiled without changes and flashed it and it didnt work!!! im freaking pissed man!!!! idk what to do!!!!!!-.-
ive even updated the aapt. i have java i have everything!!!!! im frustrated

oh ok. do u know how to decompile and compile in eclipse? i kinda did it but i didnt get all the other folders with xml's inside.
