Hi,
I'm using AR HD 3.7, I know that after installing my first version of ARHD (don't remember which version that was) I checked and the phone was properly connected with my market account, so all my apps were listed there.
I don't know exactly when this happened but now when I'm on 3.7 the phone has lost connection to the market and no matter what I do I can't get it to re-register itself on the market.
At first I didn't think this had anything to do with the ROM but after some correspondence with Google support about this problem they asked this question:
Have you installed an Android operating system on your device that has not been authorized by your device's manufacturer? I can troubleshoot your issue to the best of my abilities, but please be aware that unauthorized operating systems (custom roms) may have limited functionality due to the compatibility of the device. For best results, I recommend using the authorized Android operating system provided by your manufacturer that can be obtained from their website or your carrier.

Is this a known issue? Is there a known fix or workaround to get it working again? I want to upgrade to the 5.1.x ROM but don't want to have to re-install probably a hundred apps from scratch.
Any insight will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Eran
any idea anyone?
No one? All the people out there using mike's Revolution HD ROMs, does Android the market web site show you phone in the "My Devices" tab?
I used most ARHD ROMs and never had problems with the market.

Thanks for the info. Did you check the market web site or just the market app on the device. The app works fine but it doesn't sync or connect with the web site.

Both are fine. I really don't remember the case with 3.x but with 5.1.7 it all works.

I have recently bought the sim free Motorola Defy in the UK as my first ever smartphone. I did spend a great deal of time researching and concluded Motorola Defy was the best price/performance for me. I'm very pleased with my decision now.
During my research I understood the handset has a Task Manager tool pre-installed. I can also see references about it in the user manual and on Motorola's web site as well but I cannot see it listed under the Application menu list or any where else.
I'm wondering now if all UK version of Motorola Defy missing the Task Manager or not.
Can you confirm your UK Motorola Defy was shipped with the pre-installed Task Manager on either T-Mobile or the unlocked version please?

Thank you for your reply. Would you say the Task Manager is Motorola's or developed by another vendor that I can download from Market app for free?
I'm really puzzled why my handset's ROM is different. My handset's build number is jRDNEM_U3_2.21.0 and kernel version 2.6.29.

Thank you again.
There are dozens of apps called Task Manager on Android Market. My main concern is to find out if my ROM is different or not.

I have tried to install it without a success. It did appear it was packaged by Motorola. Don't understand the reason behind this by Motorola.
Same here - AUS DEFY, fails to install - no error code.
A Motorola rep on one of their forums recommended it be used sparingly as many programs will just try to restart again as soon as they are killed. I had a bunch of apps in the kill area and it really slogged my phone down. I only have two now and phone responds as new again.
I'm not an expert by any means but I was under the same impression about task managers being useless as Android is more efficient when left to manage it's own processes. That's why I'm surprised motorola included this app on the defy. I had it on my Cliq running 2.1 as well. Can any devs actually weigh in a tell us if task managers help with performance and/or battery life?

If that's the case, why has a Task Manager been added to Gingerbread?
Google themselves have added a task manager to the OS, surely that's conclusive evidence that they are at the very least not unnecessary and arguably are needed.
There are a couple of apps that I downloaded from the market that do consume battery if left running: co-pilot appears to be one. So I have that on my list to kill when the screen times out. And it apparently does not reload unless I load it. So, perhaps in certain cases. Try it, I found using it slowed my phone down a lot.
Can you please reupload the file? I cannot download it from dropbox.
Task manager should not be missing form any phone, too bad they did not include it in the European Rom.
When i bought my motorola (central europe) european rom , out of the box it was 1. deblured , 2. without task mangager
version 2.34.1
firmware 2.1-update 1
it really sucked...
now i am with 2.2 froyo
3.4.3. uk blur and its all fine

What guide did you use to update your phone? It`s my second day with my Moto, so I kinda have to learn everything about Android.
PS: just upgraded from windows mobile 6.5. Different story with roms, etc.
I had a Honeywell Total Connect app to manage my home security system. It never worked well so I uninstalled it. Since then they updated some code on my security system and apparently it works great now. I recently updated my phone to the 2.2 EB13 code. Now I cant find the Total Connect App in the market. Does anyone have it that could pull it off and send it to me via email so I can install it, maybe download it if you are running older android. Or, is there a way to see the market items that may be market incompatible with my epic running 2.2 code. I'm fairly certain the old apk will work.
any help would be appreciated.
Try the online market link from here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alarmnet.rcmobile&feature=search_result
No luck. It asks what device to instal to. No options available. I tried to choose install but no dice. I tried multiple other ways, market just won't allow it.
Thanks tho for the suggestion!

There are a few threads around about the market not recognizing Epics with EB13 as valid and thus not offering some apps. I have the same problem. I have not seen any solution yet.
Thanks! Good to know its not just me. I emailed honeywell. Maybe they can email me the apk.

Nope. Not just you
As near as I can gather, it's a market problem and has been seen after previous releases. You might want to join in here: http://www.google.com/support/forum...88&hl=en&fid=3c42ba0bbed1dc8800049cf3830036b3

Hi folks.
Until recently I've been using the pro version of AVG-antivirus and I must add that I used to be a happy camper.
Now however I've been getting false-positives when trying to update the super-user app. I'm pretty sure they're false. I made a std. update from the market and the search brought up a post concerning that very problem.
Since super-user app. is an absolute must I've been shopping around for another security app. I'm currently running Dr. Web light. It feels ok but the pro version wants permission to make phone calls, which I don't really see as a reasonable request. Exactly what should the program need that couldn't be obtained as a std. download. I've asked about that at their support desk.
Then I've tried lookout but couldn't get it to work.
My question is: what, if any, is your preferred security app?
I'm running gingerbread stock 2.36.405.8.
Did a search on best antivirus of course but to my surprise it came up without any useful hits.
Regards Elo.

I use Lookout Mobile Security with Android Revolution HD 5.2.0 (official HTC RUU 2.50.405.2) and for me everything works good.
I use Lookout too but I find the scanning more of an annoyance personally so I turned it off lol
Hmm!
I think I'll give lookout another go. I've heard a lot of good things about it. Perhaps I made a (L)user error ;-) .
Thanks for the interest guys.

Elo.

Personally, i use ESET Mobile Security.. Although it is still in its beta, i find it much better than any other alternative..
I too use ESET mobile security, I like the idea you can lock your whole device with a password ,antitheft next to it being a antivirus, antispam filter and being unable to remove the app unless you know that you first have to remove it from the device administrator list as nayan8teen said, it's still in beta, but it works like a charm
I find antivirus programs slow down my phone. For this reason I don't use any. I'm just careful with what I do and or install on my phone.

Just wait until you forget about the app and flash a new ROM. At this point, be surprised when your girlfriend receives texts every few minutes to inform her that my phone was stolen...

If i don't use antivirus on my phone i think is better ?!

Flash the old market, and freeze 'Market Updater' using an app like Titanium Backup.
It would have helped you more if you had searched a bit. This is the fourth or fifth time I am making a SAME reply.
I searched...a lot!!! But I got some threads that were asking to push some programing language in the system...so it was out of my hands without any specific help...

lol. Anyway, Check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274167
Old market flashable link can be found there. And I guess I need not explain freezing of an app.
I have been using it since I got updated the new market (And obviously, it sucked). And, I am still on the old version. So, it 'seems' like it works.
Thanks nd thanks for that laugh too...it told me that iam still a noob...

That was actually for your quote of 'pushing programming languages' in the system. I am sure you meant pushing files using a programming language (Actually - Its not even a programming language, Just simple command line commands), but, it just "felt" wrong.
No probs I really don't know much...somewhat new to all this..

I have the same slow like a snail problem with Market 3.1.5. It's sooo bad that I can't even download any apps. HOWEVER.... I tried on a friend's place with her WiFi connection and the whole things just whizzes by! I came back to my home and to my WiFi and again it's slow to a crawl.
So the problem seems to lie in the internet connection or down to the router...I don't know! I'll try to connect using logcat and see if I get some interesting log output. This is a bit strange I must say as it relates to some problems I have between Ubuntu and WIndows. In Ubuntu my BBC news videos take forever to load and I sometimes need to refresh for them to load whereas with Windows I have no problems. This doesn't occur with Youtube though for example (both flash players). Bottom line... there's something intrinsically different between Windows and Linux and since Android runs on Linux, this problem might be also affecting the Market over some specific WiFi / Routers..
Hi guys, I've installed the latest ICS mod for some time now and it has been pretty good for the most part. However I found that my market now limits me based on my country. I can't find apps like chrome beta or Pandora and this cannot be circumvented by using a vpn or proxy.
I have a g-tablet frankentab rom that comes stock with a market fix that allows me to see and download most apps on the market even the ones that show up as " not availiable in your country". Is there a similar option availiable for the A100? Any help would be really appreciated thx.
