Question about flashing radio. - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I am a new user of DHD. I have question about flashing radio
When I used command prompt...it said like this
"Adb is not recognosed as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file"
I didnt know what happened. Did I do something wrong? Yes, but what is it? What should I do?
What did I miss?
Sorry for the noob question. Dont know what to do..

You need to move to the folder where the ABD file is. For example, mine is on a folder on my desktop so i would do:
cd C:/Users/Scott/Desktop/ADB
Click to collapse

Thx..a bunch..
Try it now

You can use the Titanumi Backup(root) to uninstall the app brings from the rom.
Or use the Root Explorer to delete the *.apk (I don't know it's full name) from system/app.

If your s-off. You can simply remove the app from the zip file before you flash it. Or do it through fastboot.

I've done it in such way.
1. Using Titanium backup I've performed backup of all the necessary applications, phonebook, sms, etc.
2. Removed RomManager from ROM'zip file
3. Flash it. (You should turn off signature verification before flashing modified ROM'zip files)
As far as i understand, rom manager is not installed in /system/app, but in /data/app.
So this guide might help you:

Install rom via terminal = possible?

Hello guys,
I have a little question. Is it possible to install a custom rom with terminal commands, maybe with adb or fastboot, via fastboot or in recovery?
Thanks for your help

For example rom manager do it with android commands? Or how to do rom manager this?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA
Try
fastboot update whatever.zip
I'm not responsible if you brick your phone or anything like that
Sent from my Wildfire S using XDA
This method is not possible, bc you need the img files and the android-info.txt, so not really what i want to do
But thanks for answer!
Is there a way to retrieve the past few terminal commands? Then we can try replicate what rom manager did.

In the sdcard/clockworkmod folder there is a report.log file. Check it out.
Sent from my Wildfire S using XDA
run this
Code:
adb shell recovery --update_package=/sdcard/name_of_downloaded_zip.zip
where /sdcard/name_of_downloaded_zip.zip is the location and name of the rom you wish to use
ADB or Fastboot will never work. I can't explain why ATM. Technical stuff. Maybe there is a file that has its part in booting into recovery.

Ok giys, thanks for answer. I have another solution now

Hboot: PD89DIAG.zip missing

Hi guys.
Whenever I boot into my Hboot, I get this message.
There's nothing on my Sd-card and don't believe I've put a -diag.zip on it, only pd89img.zip
Any ideas? I can't really enter recovery if anything goes wrong

Is it in the root of your ad card I.e. not in any folder?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA
Its suppose to say that. It scans for 4 different files. It will fail to find anything-normal- then you select recovery
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA
There's no pdxxxx.zips anywhere on the SD-card.
It doesn't get past the search. It keeps searching forever. Should maybe have added that Hehe

Reinstalling stock recovery - help requested

So as will be immediately obvious, I am new to posting on this site and I'm sure the title will explain why. Before I start, I was using (the 'was' will be explained later) a rooted stock ROM and I had not backed it up (the instructions I used forgot to mention it).
The 2.17 HOX OTA update was finally released by three (I'm currently on 1.28) and I hoped that this update would fix several problems I've been having (standard HOX problems like battery life, camera quality, lag, and an ever growing system data). So I was fairly desperate to install this update, but when I tried clockwork recovery told me that it failed, and by using google I discovered that I'm not the only one with this problem.
This where I get stupid. In desperation to install this update I found that SuperSu has an option to full unroot and I hoped that this would reinstall the stock recovery in the process, but now I am left with an unrooted phone with clockwork recovery installed.
If anyone can help me reinstall the stock recovery so I can install this update I'd very much appreciate it. I apologise if I was long winded, I just felt it better to try and explain the whole situation.

I'm not sure what's stopping you from installing the stock recovery?
fastboot flash recovery stock-recovery.img
Thanks for replying. I'm not very knowledgeable at this so I'm not sure how to, and would I need to use a computer or can I do it directly on my phone?

No I don't think so, can I download it? Should I already have it, and if so where would it be?

You need to install Android SDK on the PC you want to do this on.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Update/install everything on it once installed.
Then you can begin.

I have just successfully reinstalled the stock recovery, and although I am very grateful for your help, you forgot to mention the next step which was to type "fastboot oem lock" on command prompt.
Thanks again!

[Q] Copying fastboot folder from old PC to new

I flash my boot.img files using command prompt, and my fastboot folder is stored on my C drive. I got a new computer and am trashing the old one soon. Can I just copy the entire fastboot folder onto the new computer, C drive, and continue as before? I'd initially got the fastboot folder while rooting, but don't remember where I got it from. Both my old and new computers run on Windows 7, if that helps.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Thanks a lot for getting back to me. But *noob alert* what did you mean by installing the drivers again? Do you mean the ones from htcdev? Can you point me somewhere the steps might be? Or if you've seen this query before, just let me know. I searched this forum once, but will check again if you've seen someone else ask this question before. Thanks again!
