Official CM7 for Defy - Defy General

I just asked to cyanogen (twitter) about an official version of CM7 for the defy and he answered tha it is on the way! \o/

Are they trying to reinvent the wheel? Quarx is doing the same job. I guess it's better to merge the branch maintained by Quarx

maybe they're working together secretly? hmmm

we are all on github so they can see our changes...

Will that then mean we can use ROM MANAGER 4 nightly builds?

Should be this http://twitter.com/#!/CyanogenMod

Do you think they will merge our changes with his GIT?

That would be a good news for all Defy users~

Doesn't seem to make sense without an official maintainer. Maybe they will take the hard work by Quarx and a new guy will maintain it making the smaller bug fixes now Quarx has made it 99% complete!

Can't find the original tweet, is this a hoax...?

On the way?
How long is this way?
Im waiting Q's CM7 .That's i really want.

[ROM](GB) CM7.2 unofficial/cm 7.2 TDJ version

This is not my work at all,TDJ brought this up in another thread.
I'd figured I'll share it with everybody else.
Use the normal gapps you would use for 7.1.
I'm not responsible for any damages that are done to your phone by flashing this. I have tested this ROM an it works.
Steps to install.
1. Download the ROM
2.boot into recovery, preform a backup, do it anyway.
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. wipe cache
5. Wipe dalvick cache(under advanced)
6. Install zip from sdcard, find where you downloaded it to.
7. Kick back an let it run.
All credit goes to the developer of this ROM.

If anyone is interested in latest cm7, includes the nightly changes that haven't been released. I compiled this last night. Stock cm7 no changes. I find the euroskank builds to drain battery to fast and I see a lot of people are awaiting some of the new additions such as t9 dialer and so on... also includes newest additions/changes to cm7 kernel source.

Its really 7.2 RC0. This meaning its not officially released by cyanogen. I could be wrong but nightlies have been 7.2 for a little bit. This being based off of the all the latest commits from the cyanogen code. If it were officially released it would be 7.2 RC1

This is the cm7 nightly changelog. They stopped doing nightlies to focus on cm9. But some of the latest things (to be included in the next nightly) might already be in this euroskank build.
There is supposed to be a t9 dialer, can anyone confirm this in this gigglebread build? Its been a month since I've installed gigglebread

kang CM9 - official CM9 with someone else's tweaks
non-stable CM9 (nightly) - done CM team only
King Kang was King Kongs brother.
Kang copied everything Kong did.

Not necessarily.
They share the same source code (edit: more accurately code source), that's it. You can build a ROM from source if you wanted to, and it would be a "kang". Officially known now as "unofficial".

the CM9 official ones yes
the kangs usually are, but might not be 100% current to the official ones.
We are kangs of our parents. Based on the same source code but with cherry picks.

How to actually download Kang ROM?

I've delayed posting this super noob question as long as possible...
I've installed multiple ROMs on my DInc without any problems. However, I now have the bug to try KANG³][CM9][UNOFFICIAL] Linaro Optimized Droid Incredible CM9 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759007). The problem is - I can't seem to figure out how to actually download this GD rom?!?! All I see are instrux about how to compile it from source - is that what I have to do or is there a link to the actual rom lurking somewhere?
Noob-ily yours,

10/17/2012 daothaguy updated.
Everyone Im taking a one to two day break on the daothaguy regulars because im downloading cm10 sources to try and build a hd2 jelly build wish me luck. if i see that i will be getting no where than on the second day ill compile a fresh cm9 build thanks for your support and patience.
My sources on my computer is messed up until I can get the surfaceflinger problem fixed compiling is on hold.
i figured out the problem why the build was not compiling for the surfaceflinger.o i deleted the line in the surface.cpp concerning the EVENT_FORCE_COMPOSITION. it was being checked forced and it wouldnt allow for it so i deleted it and it worked. so i will be uploading the new build today. Thanks for all your support. 500 downloads for my last build so there is alot who love this build especially since no one posted complaints im content
updated to build 10/22/2012
Im still here I didnt forget about all the HTC HD2 users. Im working on some new things. Just finished compiling Gingerbread CyanogenMod right now downloading jellybean source from AOSP well see how that turns out.

CM7 Debugging! Progress Thread

As you all are aware of the bugs in Cyanogenmod available for our device So I thought to gather a team to fix bugs for the good of our device I would like to first start from CM7 major bugs like color swapped when screen rotated, wifi, bluetooth and many more So I would like people who are interested in fixing bugs and form a team are requested to reply below saying "I'm in!" And PM me if any query This initiative by me is for the good of our device! I know some of the bugs listed can't be solved until broadcom releases drivers but we can still fix some of the major one's!
The HTC Sensation XL as well as the Explorer have the same BCM4330 chip as in our SGY! Already hell_lock has a CM Debugging thread in the dev section but that thread didn't show progress thats why I opened this thread!

Cm7 is aosp rom i.e. Android open source project. That means they are open source.Any one can make rom from there with thier devices drivers . We have to compile that rom from that sources .For us Broadcom released a precompiled EGL libs which is no use for sources .Sir whitexp compile every cm from his sources which can be found on git .He had fixed his source to de bug cm . age does not matter actually,
remember mentality and maturity is an abstract concept of thought,
we have lots of people in xda who are 12 year old's but have made a big impact,
we should not underestimate their capabilities,
we live in a world where we exercise our right as a free people of the free world,
anyways,
we need the littlest contributions we can in our community,
i say,
good luck to whatever these people are doing
