WiFi Tether (for root users)

So I have installed the Stock OTA 2.2.. that has root access. I have wireless tether for root users 2.0.5 pre 6 it starts up fine however no devices can see it. I was wondering if anyone has gotten this to work on 2.2 with the stock Rom.

i'm not positive, but i have heard both yes and no, and i'm not sure what the difference in setups is between those that have good luck and bad.
i know that cm6 can enable hotspot access (3G) with no problems. perhaps the devs putting out the sense 2.2 can manage to port it over to sense.

wifi tether question

just had a quick question for anyone that has the device rooted running 2.2 rom.
I just fixed my friends that was not booting backup and wondering to re-root. I have a nexus one and when using wifi tethering option with it on 2.2 is not adhoc is actually access point and everything including my psp and other androids that only see access point does the mytouch slide with 2.2 work that way or is not there yet.

[Q] What would be the difference between a rooted sprint stock rom/custom sprint rom

I just got my Htc Evo 2 hours ago and thinking about installing the Sprint's lover custom rom which is said to be the same as sprint's stock rom. So what would be the difference when I root this sprint stock rom using unrevoked3. Couldn't I still install wifi tether and other apps that require you to be rooted.....
Note: I'm' on 3.26 firmware
i have never heard of sprint loves custom rom. you are correct that with the the rooted stock rom you can install the rooted apps such as wireless tether and get them to work.
The normal benefit of a custom rom can very but it is usually tweaked by the developer to add better performance and battery life then a standard stock rom. Some of these roms have trade offs (ie CM6 you get the best performance but cant use 4g, hdmi) some dont really have much of a trade off (ie fresh Myn's warm 2.2, EVIO) and are just tweaked version of the stock rom that normally give you better performance and battery. (custom roms can be slightly more unstable then the stock rom however most of them are not enough to effect your daily use of the phone)
I rooted with Unrevoked 3.21 and have yet to install a ROM. The only one I really want to try in Cyanongen but until he gets 4G working its not worth it. We're paying $10 a month for it aren't we? I would just stick with stock

Pexon The Rock

My husband just bought a Plexon The Rock. So far I'm not impressed with it and am hoping if I root it it will run better. I have looked through the web and on here but haven't been able to find instructions on rooting it.
It is running android 2.1. Is there a way to flash an update to android 2.2. It doesn't have the ability to update manually through the tablet.
Can I use any rooting method for android 2.1 or 2.2 (if I can get the update).

[Q] Non working USB Port

I just broke my phone so I pulled out my old G2. I was wondering if its possible for me to get S-off and flash custom roms without ADB? I found a way to root without a PC but that was for older phones. I am on gingerbread 2.3.4.
