Hello there .
I come from an AOSP ROM and am now using HTC Sense 2.1.
When I click on an event on the calendar, and click on its location, it goes to the app 'Location'. I'd like it to be open on Google Maps.
Anybody knows how to change this setting ?
Thanks!
Anybody knows how to change default maps application ?
I'm not running sense based rom now but if i remember correctly there is option in location settings to integrate with Google maps.
Uninstall location apps with titanium backup. I am using insert coin v30. Of course do a nandroid backup first.

I've installed the latest Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM on my rooted Incredible, but would like to regain use of HTC's Twitter apps & widgets, and the HTC News app & widget. The ROM disables these, but puts them in a directory on the SD card in case someone like me wants to re-enable them.
I've used Root Explorer to copy the following files from /sdcard/Incredibly_Re-Engineered_Optional/Apps to /system/app:
com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk
com.htc.TwitterWidget.apk
HtcTwitter.apk
NewsReader.apk
Then, I changed permissions on these files within /system/app to rw-r--r--, changed /system/app back to read only, and rebooted the phone.
After rebooting, I was able to enter my Twitter account information in Settings > Accounts & Sync > Twitter for HTC Sense, and my Twitter feed is now showing up in the FriendStream widget.
I can also launch Peep and News applications from the App tray.
However, when I try to add the HTC News Widget or the HTC Twitter Widget to my home screen, neither of these shows up in the list of widgets that are available to add (i.e., Long Press on Home Screen > Widget > Add Widget List). Neither the HTC Twitter widget nor the HTC News Reader widget show up, and thus, I cannot use them.
So, it's almost as if the Apps have installed properly, but the widgets have not.
Can you think of a solution or anything I might be missing here?? Thanks!!
Isn't there an optional apps folder with those things in it for users?

Yes...that's where I copied the items from. The problem is they're not showing up in my list of available widgets, even though the apps seem to have installed with no problem...it's just the widgets that I can't get to show up.
Are you using Launcher Pro or the launcher the ROM comes with?

I am using the launcher that comes with the ROM.
No other ideas??
To clear the remnants of the widgets after removing them, I know you need to "Clear Data" for HTC Sense ("Applications" in Settings).
Perhaps if you do this again it will force a rebuild of the available widgets list, now that they've been reinstalled?
(You will lose any custom scenes, btw)

THANK YOU!! That solved the problem!! Cheers.
Using insertcoin ROM (if that matters). Tapping on the contacts address from HTC contacts app brings up HTC Navigation. How to switch to Google Maps instead?

I'm interested in this fix too!
Locations is unusable....
i'm using the revolution HD ROM and i want to disable the "locations" app: it is stopping my navigation app from working correctly ("Waze") - it automatically opens "location" when i select a contact's address from the address book.
the only way i found to disable it was freezing it with paid programs. is there no other way to do it?
(using Android Revolution HD 5.2.1 on desire HD)
thank for you help

You could use a third party app to access the contacts database. I use the decent (and free) Go Contacts myself. As far as I know there is no way to stop the stock Htc people app linking to the locations app.

solution found!
found a solution: by freezing the location app i can set another program as the default action for selecting an address from the stock contacts app.
did it with AntTek, but i guess titanium backup or other freeze program will do the trick as well...
thanks.

Are you rooted? Do you ever use the Locations app for anything else?

Try the following:
In the app drawer
Go to "Car"
Go to settings.(Press the small buttons below the weather, clock etc)
Go to default navigation app and change it to what you want there.
I'm also having trouble with this. When ever I click on a contact address it opens up HTC Locations, and there are no defaults sets for Locations app to clear.

Thanks, that solved the problem. :good:
However there is tiny issue with it; when opening google maps with "Select other map" option, that dreadful 3 dot menu option appears on the bottom, and it stays there (even inside Google navigation if I load it from maps) till i switch out of the app and switch back in again. A minor inconvenience, but far better than always going to edit contact > Copy address > load Google maps > Paste and search for the address.
I'm not a fan of the default calendar app and on previous phones used the Google Calendar. On this one I installed Google Calendar and placed its widget on the homescreen, but when I tap it to open the actual app it opens the HTC one. I can't clear the defaults or disable it to force it to let me pick Google Calendar. Even the debloat threads I've seen don't remove the stock Calendar... For now I'd like to stick with the stock rom, so is there any way to do this?

Have you tried titanium backup and freezing the calendar app?
