do you use 2ndinit 1.6? because that doesnt work, try 1.42! and which sbd did you flash? i recommend 3.4.3-11, thats what quarx (and me ) uses.

I had the same problem with 2ndInit 1.6.
Install 2ndInit v1.4 (See FAQ by Antony.PS).
Try WIPE FACTORY RESET / CAHE and DALVIK, after that install CM7 from scratch.
Some users in Brazil had the same problem and fixed make those steps.
Sorry my poor english.

Thanks for the help guys,
managed to get it sorted,
full wipe, and then reinstall with the tools i had and yeah working,
\o/

Same Setup

Same exact setup I used. Proud Owner of CM7 Beta 6 Motorola defy!!!

The latest defy 2init v1.8 is the best option because this allows you to install either bootmenu 0.6.1 stable for cm7
Or 0.8.6 latest version

CM7 installing stuck..

Stuck on big red M. I do everything like it say on installing CM7 6 beta. 2ndinit 1.6 maybe blame?
When I selected default boot "normal", instead on 2ndinit then it boot original 2.2 LOL
Can somebody explain that, I did absolutely everything it say on installing CM7 faq thread.
After installing sbf let it boot if it does not boot wipe data. root with superoneclick, reboot phone install 2nd init reboot too boot menu select custom recovery wipe data then install cm7 then gapps reboot. First boot can take up to 10 min. This should work.

I'm having the same issue (I'm about 3 below you) I go through the whole process as you did and get stuck at the m (mines not red though) same as you I'm thinking 2ndinit is the culprit. So of any one has 1.4 please post!

Hi
Having the same problem, wonder whether it is the 109 version, I'll try the 108 and see if that works.
Hello,
yesterday i had the same Problem after installing #107.
Try to install first the stable Version 7.0.3 and update to the Version you need.
That helps to me.
Still had the same problem with #108.
what do you mean by 7.0.3? the versions start from #87-109 - sorry I don't understand.
He means Stable build 7.0.3 which is the latest stable CM7 build.
Where do we find that, I can see only CyanogenMod 7 Nightly Builds. Then a few threadss down I can see 7.0.2 (April 2011)...??
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices/htc-wildfire
Still no luck.
Tried the stable mob, but the first boot screen with cyanogen mod 7 keeps on appearing for ages and I have no option but to reove the battery.
What are we doing wrong?
OK, finally worked after clearing storage.
nvm, posted a bit after your new one, so I didn't see it

Wipe everything. Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, factory reset. All can be done from recovery menu. Then install the rom.
And pls don't create these kind of threads in dev section. Try to search first.
Edit : if the problem persists even after doing so, then remove the sdcard. Then start the phone. This eliminates sdcard errors.

[Q] SBF Mix up

Hi there,
My Defy was on Quarx's 0308 CM9 (With CM7 Kernel), when I tried to install Walters Kernel using 4.5.2-109_DHT-22-kernel.zip. After doing this it did not go past the "M" logo upon reboot.
I then read that others had flashed the fixed DHT-22 kernel to fix this issue. I accidentally selected the wrong SBF (JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-11_BLUR_SIGNED) and I am now stuck in a boot loop. Could anyone please help me figure this out?
Thanks in advance
Can you get into recovery ? , have you tried full wipe , data, catch+dalvik

No can't get into recovery, only into bootloader to flash sbf's.

That is the way i done it, its a long way around but I'm not sure if there is a faster way sorry,

i have today this problem.
i found china sbf 2.2.2 work on my defy flash root boot cm7 and cm9
Thanks for the response, I'm busy downloading another SBF to try that, will give feedback and thanks, if I prevail!
Ok, I'm back in action. The issue was that I needed to wipe user data and cache using the standard restore (I think that's what it's called). Anyway instead of looking for a SBF that makes it work, I accessed the standard restore by holding volume - while powering up, then wiped user data and cache, which stopped the boot loop after the reboot.
Now I'm back onto CM9
Glad That Worked me too faced alot probs with CM7 and 9

[Q] Bricked Defy after flashing from stock Froyo 2.2.1 to CM7 stable build

Hi everyone, newbie to Android here looking for a bit of help. I took the time to sift through the forums and do my own research before posting and didn't find anything similar so here goes.
I flashed my Motorola Defy running stock Froyo 2.2.1 to CM7 using Defy Clockworkmod Recovery which I got from this site (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875233). No major issues except for the learning curve one has to go through when using Android for the first time, did take a lot of reading though. After flashing I noticed that I no longer picked up a cell signal, attempted to flash back to Froyo which, as far as I understood, was possible if you did your flashing through CWM. Anyway, after doing the factory/cache wipe and rebooting my phone freezes at the CM7 "Google" logo which comes up on boot. Attempted wipe several times, same result.
I tried flashing with RSD Lite 5.7 but after unzipping the CM7 file I get an error message regarding an XML file. The machine I'm running RSD on is Windows Vista and apparently there are some compatibility issues. Is my only solution running a Windows XP VM and attempting to flash from there?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Do you still have bootmenu and CWM on your phone? if so just install CM7. If you are able to install and boot into CM7, just keep it. No need to go back to stock froyo. You should use baseband switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745) and switch to the correct depending on your region. This should pick the phone and data signal.
I too have vista with 32bit and had no issues using RSDLite, couple of folks have reported compatability issues but do not know. You can as well use XP if possible to flash back to froyo. Please charge the battery to sufficient say more than 70% and start flash.

I do have bootmenu, after flashing CM7 the CWM was no longer on my installed apps, tried to get it from market but that as well as other google apps were missing, unfortunately I attempted to go back to Froyo before flashing the google apps pack from what I understand flashing through bootmenu is done using RSD, correct? Thanks for the link to baseband switcher, Ill give it a try as soon as my phone is back up and running

No CWM even after root and 2ndinit install after attempt to flash Codename Android JB

Hi. All was working well when I was running Quarx's version of CM10 on my Green Lens Defy. I could update to each new update CM10 ROM by clearing the data and cache then flashing the ROM and GApps. After that, I wiped the dalvik cache and reboot. Note my Defy is using a Froyo kernel.
Then I decided to try out Codename Android JB Beta and I did what I normally did with the ROM and then GApps. I ended up stuck in a bootloop. No problem I thought. I'd just reflash Quarx's own version of CM10 after wiping data and cache. I got stuck in a bootloop again. Odd. I tried it with older versions of Quarx's CM10 and they result in me getting stuck in a bootloop as well. So I flashed the US T-Mobile SPF for the Defy using RSD Lite then I logged in to BLur and such as that is needed to access the homescreen where I then turned on USB debugging. I then plugged in my phone into my computer to use SuperOneClick Root to root my device. It said my device was already rooted though I don't think that should happen since I flashed a stock 2.1 SPF. Well I rebooted and installed the 2ndinit apk then installed 2ndinit using the app. I think it said that 2ndinit was already installed. But if my memory is wrong in this case, I then installed 2ndinit and rebooted my Defy but I never got a blue LED.
Then I did the same steps as I did previously over and over again with variations to try to get it to work.
Can someone help?
I caution anyone who may attempt to install Codename Android JB Beta from CM10.
On another matter, downloading an OTA update then rebooting when pressing "install now" brings me to the triangle with exclamation screen and gets stuck there.
Have you done a fullwhipe in the Motorola Recovery before flashing the SBF??(usually you would get a bootloop without fullwhiping but maybe the solution is that easy )
And why did you flash a 2.1 SBF you should maybe try some other SBFs like the Froyo SBFs for your Country

Oh a full wipe in stokc recovery is needed? I'll try it.
Can you suggest a good SBF for a US Green Lens Defy if you know any?
Is it fine if I use the 3.4.2-179 CEE Deblur SBF as recommended by Quarz for a base then root, install 2ndinit. and flash CM10 from Clockwork Mod Recovery?

Yep fine for using that one but you should definitely check out the begginers guide for sbf rooting ect as you've been having trouble with this for the last few days now and I'd really like to see get this sorted once and for all
