Has anyone tried any app to use SGSII as webcam either by USB or wireless ?
(e.g. USB Webcam, Droid Webcam )
Comments on working or not working on SGS II are appreciated

I'm using one called IP Webcam, works well for me. Its in the market.

[Q] Gamepads Compatible With Vibrant

Hey everyone-
I've been looking around lately for a possible solution to my gaming woes on the Vibrant recently, namely the fact that the onscreen controls normally suck in any emulator. Because of that I've been looking for a gamepad, or game controller of some sort, that's compatible with the Vibrant via bluetooth or some other physical means. Beyond the wii remote (which I don't think works on the galaxy s line anyway), is there any solution that's built for android phones that'll work on the vibrant? I've already checked out the game gripper, but that's for keyboard phones. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears, thanks in advance.

Well, i have been using a Wiimote plus a nunchuk, and it works pretty good...i have been playing The Legend Of Zelda OOT with N64oid, and besides some fails here and there (that are not the fault of the WiiMote but the emulator itself), it works flawlessly, i like it a lot.
the zeemote works http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?skuno=86194#grey
i know it says combatible only with blackberrry but this youtube video shows how to install on galaxys--->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJO-M433hXQ&feature=related
thanks button if i helped

I didn't realize that the wii remote worked on the vibrant, I checked in the market today and it said in the description that it wasn't compatible with the galaxy s series of phones because of a custom bluetooth stack issue or something. Although, if your running a custom rom maybe its not a problem. Either way I'll give it a try, thnx.

Hey man thanx for the link, I already found that, but actually I believe I found an even more elegant solution here: http://phonejoy.weebly.com/buy.html. It's a custom psx controller called the phonejoy that's modded to work on android devices, direct from China lol. Anyway, thanks for the help.

May I ask what rom you are using? I've been hoping to find a rom that supports wiimote for a while.
CM7 works with the wiimote. I've tried it, so cool.

Good to know, I'm on CM7 now so that'll save me some green. Although I'd really like a dual analog controller for the vib, ahh well...thanks for the heads-up.
You can use dual analog once you connect the classic controller pro to the wiimote

Cool, so the newer classic controller works! Good thing I'm buying one tomorrow . Thanks for letting me know. And just to confirm, the classic controller PRO (that one specifically), works in addition to the old one right?

Both pro and non pro work, you can see videos of them working on youtube.
And remember wiimote only works with bluetooth 2.1 (cm7) for now

You can buy a PS3 controller. They connect via bluetooth and work pretty well.
Well since the dead thread is already brought back, has anyone tried using a bluetooth pad along with tv out? I've seen a kang cm build that says it has working tv out and was wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
Edit: link to kang build, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461705
Interesting proposition. Do you have the necessary tools to try it? If so, I'd like to hear the result.

I used the ics passion rom with TV out and two wii controllers to play super Nintendo games with my wife.
It works great
Even with multiple controllers.

Possible to use USB webcam with Kindle Fire OTG cable?

Hello!
As you may have noticed, some Kindle Fire ROMs have a Camera app built into them. Normally, this app is useless. I was thinking about this the other day and an idea occured to me. Would it be possible to plug in a USB webcam into the Fire via a USB OTG cable and have it be able to take pictures with the Camera app? Don't know if this is possible or not, just thought I'd ask. Thanks!
I'm fairly certain that this is impossible.
Feel free to try it if you like though.

Ah thats too bad. Would be awesome if this was possible.
Should be possible.....but I am not sure. As long as it is a webcam for Android devices....and it uses Micro-USB....It should work. Probably depends on your ROM.
i bought a Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter and i used a standard usb webcam to used skype, on twi_priv sgt7 jellybean rom, and it works!!!

Could you give me the model number of the cable and webcam and where you bought it? Also, does the Camera app work or just skype?

What camera do I need for this to work? Would be awesome to do with Skype or a Google+ Hangout
Where did that other guy go that said he was able to use a camera with Skype?
sorry i havent checked this thread for a while and the camera app doesnt work on it, but theres no mic so i cant talk to people just see them,
Would it be possible to use a different USB camera that has a microphone and have it work with Skype?
idk possibly, but i gave my camera and otg cable to my friend, i dont use my kindle with skype anymore, i use my new asus transformer! its pretty sweet
Can you give us a link to the exact model of webcam that you had?

I tried a logitech C570 (I think) HD 720P USB webcam today and it didn't work.
I'm using HashCodes [ROM/KERNEL] UNOFFICIAL CM10 + 3.x Kernel for Kindle Fire [09/16 CHARGING+]
anyone had any luck with this? I'm interested if this is really possible.

Send phot/video to TV (DLNA // Allshare)

Hi,
I have Samsung smart TV at home. My other Android device (Samsung Galaxy S3) is able to stream on demand to the TV with the Samsung app named Allshare. But that's a DLNA application and we have other DLNA apps for non-Samsung devices like Nexus 7.
For example, iMediaShare is a good DLNA server app. I can connect to my Nexus 7 from my TV, when I run DLNA app on the NExus 7.
However, I can't send photo or video to the TV on demand, as in the Samsung DLNA app (Allshare)
Is there a good DLNA app for Nexus 7 which could do what Samsung Allshare does ?
Thanks.

From what I read about skifta, I understand that it's not DLNA but uses a proprietary protocol, which works with only it's own server-client software. I need plain DLNA which works with TV's DLNA client.
Why dont you try twonky? Works fine for me

does it have the capability of pushing a file (photo for example) from the Android device to a DLNA player (TV) ?
You can try BubbleUPnP. It sets your tablet as a UPnP server.

skifta can do all you need i'm using it on my gnex and N7 and connect great with my samsung smart tv es8000 allshare app.
you can send photo/video/music to the tv from n7....(open skyfta, select ource N/, select player smart tv, then browse your file and tap on the desidered )
or if you want to act from tv: open skifta on your n7, it will trasform your android device into a multimedia server named 'skifta'; open all share on sammy tv and you will see 'skifta' server, select it, browse your n7 files and play it! very easy man
after skifta installation, in the 'share menu' of your N7 will appear the entry 'skyfta' you can use it to share from gallery, file browser etc
sorry, it's only in Italian, but you can easly see how skifta work

I HAVE A samsung with all share . bubble up will do the following ..
with bubble up connected to the tv thru wifi .. i can send video from my desktop pc wired to the same network. thru the tablet and output on the tv wireless.. it Just works... I do have custom kernel.. not sure if it has anything to do with it or not . Not tried it on stock.. I discovered this to work with my acer a500 . one day when i went to connect it i thought i had plugged in the cable watched a move then realized it was NOT Plugged in ..
SO im not sure how but it JUST WORKS. the all share does not really show where the connection is coming from.. Guess it would be in the settings but i have not really looked .
there is one called Via that also worked on my acer not installed it on the nexus
---------- Post added at 01:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
Just tried using bubble up on my vizio tv .. dlna..
it works just the same. The reason i was able to stream movies to my tv thru the tablet was . ES FILE Browser launched before hand with the network drive MOUNTED.. way Bubble up sees the files as local on the device .. pushing them to the tv is easy just browse the menu on the tv . it will show the mounted resource.. on my tv it shows /mnt/bonniespc/m/movies..
the files are on the network on bonnies pc on a seperate drive called m in a directory called movies.. On the pc we have the samsung media share server program running under windows 7 64 bit.. The M drive is a 2 tb seagate drive all of this is connected thru a 45.00 netgear router. with a dlink 8 port switch.. the pc in question is on a dedicated ip as it also host our website and ftp...
anyway GOOD LUCK GETTING it to work . it can happen ..
Thanks.
Skifta really worked for me.
It can detect the TV and push any file (photo/video) to it.

Usb otg?

I browsed and didn't find this topic. Has anybody checked to see if the usb port can host? I would love to use this to remote control my camera for shoots. Via https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.dslrcontroller

<<EDIT>> Chainfire does some awesome app development. You could PM him here on XDA for compatibility. I think he has a Note2 now or is able to give you a feel for how it will work, as that is a paid app.
OTG works fine from a OTG Cable and from Juiced Systems 4-in-1. I've used it for media transfer from my USB flash. Sadly the 4-in-1 will not charge the SGN2 in any case (attached to power, with/without flash memory attached) as it is stated to do for S2.
I'm still testing external USB hub / mouse / keyboard / USB HDD abilities, but all looks very nicely implemented.
I hope to get the desktop dock which would combine concurrent use of:
Charging
OTG usb devices (x3)
Audio output to powered amp
HDMI output to large video display.
Nice. Thanks for the info.

Also found out my wife's ccd barcode scanner works! Sure we have the camera, but if you're using it to input a crap ton of asset tag numbers into an excel spreadsheet, or web based app, that doesn't work so well.

How to use controller to play games

Hey guys.
Im on mobile so cant paste a link to the video, but search youtube for "gameklip android"...saw that today and while the clip itself interests me, im more interested in how to play my games with either my wii or xbox 360 wireless controllers or my usb pc controller.
Would love to know this!
Thanks.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SIII on MetroPCS!
Depending on the game you can connect the controller with an otg cable for your pc controller and xbox with wireless adapter. For the wii controler you have to be rooted to my knowledge and use an app like bt joystick. Someone correct me if im wrong.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
are you saying it's plug-n-play?!
I have an otg cable...off to try this.
EDIT: yes it is. Plugged in my pc controller and Dead Trigger picked up right away.
Question is now which games support gamepads?
I know some of the emulators will but not sure beyond that, I use sixaxis to map my ps3 controller for nova and duke nukem. It's more of a trial and error thing.

On the right path, but Wiimotecontroller and the handful of other apps I see for using Wii remotes all say they don't work on newer HTC Sense, Samsung TW, or Android JB phones (4.2 specifically). Going to read up more when time permits though, let me know if you are anyone else finds one that will specifically still work on the Sprint SGS3 *Grin* ..
