OUT Kitchen Theme problem Wildfire - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I try creating a theme for my Wildfire with the UOT Kitchen i get the Error (Status 0) message after trying to flash it.
I am running CM 7.0.3 with 3.0.2.8 Clockworkmod, so I should be able to flash it.
Can anyone make a complete working guide to this, as all of my tries have failed....

The only update-binary file i was able to find was in the update.zip on my sd card...and after following the tip I was still unable to flash it.
Any other ideas?

do what i did and put them all onto the rom manually unzip the rom and replace all the files... not recommended btw

one assumes that you have already rooted your HTC Hero ?
If not then follow this
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/
once that is done then follow this

This worked like a charm for me so I assume that it should work for you as well
Hope this helps

Where, China? I've heard it called the G2 by virtue of T-Mobile branding it the G2 Touch, but never the G3!

Dave
I have this model also, just wondering when we are able to root the hero and install different roms will it enable different android market? I'm in the US and am lacking apps that should be present e.g Pandora, ebuddy etc.
I was wondering if this way of force updating would work?
download the official rom version 1.76.405.x firmware (not rooted),
boot up the unit using home+power (to boot into recovery);
extract the official rom's rom.zip and rename into update.zip
put that update.zip into sdcard's root
on the device, apply the update in the recovery.

try it, but i doubt it will work because it will check the CID in the rom.zip(or renamed to update.zip) file and that ROM does not contain CID's needed for most phones.

uhm, could be, or it doesn't like the rom.zip (altough renamed to update.zip) zip file, which makes sence as we can create update.zip files and sign them ourselfs (stuff that for example paul (modaco) does) i need more playing time myself, but you can try and creating a new zip with the contents of the rom.zip and sign it, then look if that works....but i'm doubtful
funny thing is, i've downloaded the signed rom from modaco, (they are signed, as far as i can be told by the file name), and tried to flash it again using the same method:
log:
Code:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Veryfiying update package...
E:No signature (740 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
still no go.
does renaming a file affect the signature?

no, but the type of signing is the problem, the update.zip (with cert/sign files inside the zip) is a different kind then doing an edit on the physical zip file and changing (signing) and thats whats being checked and we currently can't duplicate (or re-sign a changed rom.zip)
I found a solution after being told it was not possible.
The Brown Hero I purchased was also an Asian version and had no Market.
I was so scared and frustrated at first because everyone said there was no solution.
But I found one!
*1. Download Linda file manager from here and install since you don't have the market! (I had a copy already on my sdcard) goto Settings, Applications, and make sure Unknown source is checked ON.
*2. On your phone, goto Settings, SD card and phone storage, and click Unmount SD card.
*3. Then click Format SD card (it should automatically remount after this)
*4. Plug the phone into the compuer via USB, then pull down the notification bar and click on the SD card notification. Then click mount.
*5 Download the Flashrec apk from this link: http://zenthought.org/system/files/asset/2/flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk and install using Linda File manager.
*6. Download Amon_RA_Herov1.2.2 Recovery image and place on root of sdcard
*7. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish.
*8. Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type
/sdcard/Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img
Then click on the Flash Custom RecoveryImage button and wait for it to finish.
*9. Turn off the phone and turn it on into Recovery mode by holding down Home and Power to turn it on (keep holding until the recovery screen comes up has a bunch of text on a black background). So long as that screen comes up, you have done it correctly and now you can load this rom which is HTC Generic 2.73.405.5
It's also referred to as Modaco version 2.2, it's what I'm currently using.
*10. Place that rom on the root of you're sdcard and use option Apply sdcard: choose zip option and flash! Once done reboot and you're all set and will have The Android Market and all the goodness that rooting provides!
Hope this helps!
You had the same ROM version as mentioned in the original post? ^^

[Q] Help. I'm stuck in the middle of a root of my evo via linux terminal/ adb

So I'm not fluent in the linux terminal. I'm basically illiterate, deaf and dumb. So here I am trying to root using toasts tutorial, How To Root The HTC EVO ~ Part-1 \0/
the forum won't let me post links yet., and apparently the software here thinks some part of the code I'm posting is a link.
Anyway I'm at this step,
- At this point it will boot into a rooted rom.
- YOU ARE NOW ROOT!!!
- rename the PC36IMG.zip on your sdcard:
- plug your phone into a usb port on your desktop and do:

I may be root but I had a problem and had to redo this step... my sdcard was not being recognized. After reflashing/ updating I was able to access it again.
Now this rename the zip file step... I'm thinking if I rename it the code I'm supposed to enter isn't going to work. What should I rename it to?
How should I enter this code? first off my sd card isn't called sdcard it's called an 8 digit number.
I tried this (can't post the code for some reason) without changing the name of the zip file. I'm thinking I don't have the locations right because I know the file is in there.
I need some direction to get to the next step.
Thanks

i have no idea what your doing...i rooted via the unREVOked method...i had to downgrade to 2.1, then actually root...can u send me a PM with what tutorial your following? and also the current info you have for your phone, like what its running (2.1 or 2.2) and stuff of that nature.... we shall see if i can help, not sure but its worth a shot
okay form what i read you have already flashed the .zip. Make sure you clear your data and cache as these will cause boot loops if not cleared. Also you can rename the .zip to anything you want, this just makes it so the bootloader does not try to install the .zip a second time.

I'm running 2.1. I never upgraded. The tutorial I'm following is in thread #690762 I'll try to pm the link but I don't think they'll let me. I thought unrevoked wasn't a full root. I want to unlock nand. I'm also using Ubuntu here, not windows.

I just removed the .zip part. What is the point of the next step, which I couldn't get to work, if I rename the file?
Code:
adb shell mv /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip /sdcard/root-PC36IMG.zip
Well I guess I'm going to start over and wait for the latest unrevoked to come back out. Thanks to everyone that tried to help. "NO ROOT FOR YOU!"
You have a lot to learn....
First of all, don't rename the sdcard, rename pc36img.zip. Just rename it to anything you want so boat loader doesn't recognize it and try to update itself. Next, you aren't utilizing root. You do have a rooted boot loader, but you are still using a protected recovery and rom. Install a custom recovery and flash a new rom so you can be cool.

Yes, I know I have a lot to learn. I didn't rename the sdcard, that wasn't possible. I figured part of the problem with getting this to work was the path. My sdcard wasn't called sdcard it was called some 8 digit number. I eventually worked around pushing the file to the sd card by installing the phone as a drive and dragging the file to the sdcard.

After I rebooted and updated/ flashed the file, I renamed the file on the sdcard by removing the .zip. I did this via disk drive on my laptop because I wasn't getting anywhere with the command line.
Again this part didn't make any sense to me, not that most of it does, but what was the point of the next command in the directions if I renamed the file?

Right "I have a lot to learn" I thought following the directions in toasts tutorial step by step would have gotten me to that point. I didn't realize I was just supposed to skip stuff when I run into problems. That kinda seems like what your telling me to do. I thought all of the commands were important.
I was hoping you had some follow up insight dkdude.
if you still on 2.1, try this method (just make sure the files aren't corrupted)

[Q] Error [240] file open This is STUPID

I Read and Read and Read. The surprising part is that, what I need the most there is no video nor any instruction to fix the problem.
I'm trying to flash a ROM on my tilt 2 GSM phone.
I have already HSPL it,
I did task 29 using RhodiumWAdvancedRUU.zip because I couldn't get regular task 29 to work.
Now I get a white screen with HTC on it and it doesnt pass it. So I enter bootloader and make sure that at the bottom it shows USB. (yes I do see SPL-0.85. OliNex)
Now I try to install the ROM and here is where the problem starts.
My ROM:
I dled NRG MAXSENSE ROM which is Energy.RHODIUM.29022.Sense2.5.MaxSense.Jul.08.7z
My Rhodium Update Utility (RUU) is
Rhodium_CustomRUU_v1.1.zip
I Open it and I see
CustomRUU.exe
Here is where I don't know what to do. Some instructions say that I need a .NBH file. Where do I get this file. They say it should be with my ROM.
All I get when I dl the ROM is
Energy.RHODIUM.29022.Sense2.5.MaxSense.Jul.08.7z
Format 7z not .nbh
I get the Error [240] File Open when I run CustomRUU.exe. To fix it they say
"When this error message appears, check whether the downloaded image is placed in the DIRECTORY of RUU. If, for some unknown reason, you find that the ROM image is not located in the RUU folder, you have to download the RUU and retry again."
What is the "DIRECTORY" of RUU"? Whats a directory? I never heard that term before.
Of which RUU? CustomRUU.exe?
Do I make a folder and put CustomRUU.exe in it with the Energy.RHODIUM.29022.Sense2.5.MaxSense.Jul.08.7z ?
Where is the .nbh file? Do I rename the ROM IMAGE to .nbh?
Please give me step by step. Ive read so much already and I dont know what to do anymore. Thank you for your help.
-___- I cannot believe I spent all this time for something so dumb. We should put this on the Help for NOOBS thread. The file " .7z " cannot be opened with Winzip. To open the file you have to use WINRAR. And from there we can see the Rhodium_SoftwareUpgrade.exe (RUU) and the RHODIMG.nbh files. And double clicking the Rhodium_SoftwareUpgrade.exe the software will start walking you through the process for flashing. I think it would be a good idea to add on the HOW TO FLASH A ROM that the 7z file requires WINRAR to be opened.
But thanks to the Lord I learned how to flash the Rom successfully.

Just try to unzip it and zip it again using WinRAR or 7Zip

[Q] Zip flashing problems

Hi all,
I'm trying to replace the font on bubor's CM11 ROM by means of flashing one on of the ZIPs available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-fontster-betas-flashable-font-packs-t2513985
I am using bubor's TWRP v2.7.1.
The problem I first encountered when trying to flash a font was the error message "Error executing updater binary" and thus the flashing "Failed". Based on the advice at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290009 , I figured it would probably be a good idea to replace the update-binary with the one found in my ROM's ZIP, so I did that.
However, the ZIP still doesn't flash. Although I no longer get the "Error executing updater binary" message, now TWRP simply tells me "Error flashing zip" without offering me any explanation.
Please can you help with this, and apologies for the noob question. I have tried installing the ZIP from both internal and external SD. My SD's are swapped - could that have something to do with it?
- downlaoded http://www.mediafire.com/download/40x5qm44a24p0dg/CantarellFontPack.zip
- downlaoded http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/keyboard-light.zip
- replace update-binary ( copy from keyboard-light.zip)
- install
no error.
Would you be more detailed what did you use with what, please.

I'm sorry for not being detailed enough.
I tried following your steps but unfortunately the flashing still failed. I eventually got it to work after a combination of actions, but I think the most crucial one was changing the write permissions of the \system\fonts folder from "drwxr-xr-x" to "drwxrwxrwx".
Thanks for your efforts in any case, I really appreciate all the work you're doing.
