For some odd reason my WiFi won't connect. I tthought maybe it was my Rom so I switched roms and it still won't. Any ideas I reset everything at work so I know it works but my phone won't connect. Right now I'm on newtoroots zrom, I've tried nils business sense. Still won't connect. Maybe its here but if its my phone let me know if there's another trick. Thank you.
Forget it I connected to a linksys at a red light. It's my work.

Hey everyone I recently switched over from cm6 to backed snack 1.7 and since just that, my phone will not connect to my home WiFi WEP key protected network. The Evo actually recognizes the network but it just keeps showing "Obtaining address..." and no connect. If someone knows howto fix this that would be great! Thankyou!!

Anyone....?
Did you have problems with cm6?

Nope no problems with cm6
Guess no one else has this issue..?
i'm having the same issue, but i don't think its necessarily baked 1.7 b/c i was having this issue prior to installing BS. but i only have issues connecting if i have the encryption turned on.
any ideas are welcome. i don't like non-encrypted wifi!
I had this yesterday. I reflashed the combo radio/prl/NV/wimax zip file and once it rebooted...I "forgot" my wifi network and then reselected it. I connected just fine and it stayed connected....Try that.
Hey everyone,
I am having an issue where when I try to connect to my wifi, it will connect for a second then disconnect right after. My router says phone is connected.
I have not changed anything recently. I an running cm7 rc1
Any help is appreciated

Maybe try a new kernel. I know when I use some kernels I wont get 4g or GPS or wifi. You can get kernel manager from the market for free. It makes testing new ones really easy.

If its been working before, have you tried to power cycle the wifi router.. I know mine sometimes gets a hiccup and refuses to issue new leases..... just a thought.

True. If the router says its connected but not sending data it sounds like the router not the phone. My crappy router does that a lot. I apologize for jumping to conclusions before thinking lol.

I didn't really think about that. I will try that as soon as I get home and see what happens.

Im on synergy - nightly rom by virus 08/12 and I just recently upgraded my router to be able to handle N wireless, I have been able to connect the other devices in my house successfully expect my phone, my phone sees my router and it prompts me to type in the wpa 2 psk key, I put the key in, it says connecting and then it never connects, would just powe cycling the router fix this or is there something else I should do?

If you have the stock kernel, wifi is disabled by default, though I thought most if the custom roms were hex edited to work.. Perhaps refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158629
If that doesn't work try just wpa.and not else, also check if you are using aes or tkip encryption, I remember reading somewhere that it might make a difference which one you pick, but can't remember now... Hope this helps
I just flashed lithid cm's FREEDOM for the synergy-kingdom nightlies v 0.7.6?
Hopefully this works if not i'll try your suggestion of flashing the wireless N fix, the kernel says it supports wireless N so you might be right it might have something to do with the type of encryption the router has for the actual connection, thing is my POS verizon router will not let me switch to regular WPA or WEP for the wireless N connection
Its been a long time since ive been on here so i kinda need help on this. My bros evo for some reason doesnt want to connect to the wifi. All it does is scan then connecting and then right away disconnect...it repeats the process several times before it stays disconnected. I was tryin to tether my data to him using my GS3...my other brother didnt have a problem connecting to it with the ipod. I flashed a new rom for his evo with no issues. Clean install. Still no go with the wifi. The evo has no mods. Jus the rom n the kernel it came with. It mighg b a hardware issue. Not sure. Any ideas?

Try resetting the wifi router. I had the same problem the other day.
This is strange, my wifi works but then suddenly it only uploads (only green arrow lights up) and it will not download (orange arrow will not light up). I can disconnect and reconnect and I get some service, but then nothing happens.
I've tried the following:
Rebooting the phone several times
Restarting the router
Changing from DHCP to Static IP
Turning off the new open network notification
Clearing data from Google Play store
Disabled wifi power save with *#0011#
Nothing seems to fix it. What is going on?
READ BEFORE YOU FOLLOW ANY OF MY INSTRUCTIONS!! U HAVE BEEN WARNED I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW DAMAGE YOUR PHONE!!!
OK so let's go straight to Ur answer.... Let it sit for a while after it boots up (a minute) with Ur wifi on. so restart the phone while wifi is on and let it sit for a while... If Ur using a wired connection with a wireless router disconnect the wired modem then the wireless and wait 10 secs and reconnect the wired first and let's all the lights go green or whatever color they show u its ready and then connect the wireless router and try to connect to it.
If that didn't work and you don't have your phone rooted then flash the only time that we have for now. That should fix the wifi issue.
If it doesn't work try to go back to stock and let it sit for a while without touching it and if it doesn't work then the phones defective but keep in mind that if you went through the root process that if you send it back without erasing the flash counter your warranty will be voided so be aware of it. I don't know if there's an app compatible with the s4 so if it's not rooted then replace it just to be safe.... It's your choice

My phone is not rooted.
What did you mean by flashing the time?
How do I erase the flash count if I decide to root later?
Thank you for your help. =)
------edit------
The method -- sans the flashing the time -- seemed to work, but then the internet stalled again. This is happening on two S4 phones. My other phones have no trouble with the wifi, my pcs have no trouble with the wifi. What are the odds that two phones aren't working? Nobody else is having this problem?
I have already made a thread with the sane issue. You're not the only one facing it. A lot more people are too. It might be a software thing and might be fixed in the next update. If not, exchange it

What router are you using? D-Link DIR-655 seems to be most popular one people are having trouble with. What mode are you using (a/b/g/n/mixed/etc)? Mine only works with Mixed n and g mode. When you turn off the wifi, does it actually turn off (the green indicator will dim but should actually go away when it's off)? The stock rom seems to want to keep the wifi on at all costs... not sure why! Mine is very stubborn and takes several tries before it actually turns off and says "turn wifi on the see available networks." In order for the *#0011# Power Save Mode Off setting to work, the WiFi needs to actually turn off then back on. I have to toggle airplane mode sometimes just to get the wifi to turn off.
DGL-4500 Linksys
It shuts off when I save; I put the settings as you suggested. I'll test it.

DGL-4500 is a D-Link, correct? If it is a D-Link, I'd make sure you are on the latest firmware for it and try various mode settings (disable mixed modes, 2.4GHz or 5GHz only, WPA2/TKIP only, etc). This post details a solution to my scenario; maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I have d-link router too and wifi working just fine

Yeah, it is a D-Link; not a Linksys. I tried what you did, it seems to be okay so far. I have the latest firmware. I still think this is a problem with the phone. Do you think an update will fix it?

Yes, it's definitely a problem with the phone. I've spent the last several days researching and trying to find a permanent solution. It appears to be a software issue but I've yet to explain how wifi works just fine for some and not for others.
Any solution to this yet without messing with the router setting. I have this week left to get a full refund. I doubt exchanging it would make a difference. Plus tmobile is out of stock and stores won't allow exchanges since I bought mine online.

I sent my phone to Samsung, so I'm waiting to hear back from them on what they have to do to fix my issue. Maybe it's a faulty batch of Broadcom chips?

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it can be fixed. I have 4 days left to return so I will return it for now and buy it later if it gets fixed. Let us know how it goes.

Has anyone heard anything on this? I got a PM from Samsung asking me some questions, but they never got back to me. Any news?
OK, this is more of a general WiFi question than a M7VZW question, but I hope someone has a suggestion or two.
My phone works great with the WiFi at my office and USED to work just fine with the WiFi at home. Then I started having issues with CM/AOSP-based ROMs. When at home, the connection would drop and I couldn't reconnect without rebooting. Still worked great at the office.
So, out of frustration with CM/AOSP ROMs, I switched back to Sense-based ROMs. All good for a while. But then I began having the same issues with the home router. Now, it's gotten so bad that it won't connect at all, no matter what ROM I install. WiFi at the office still works great on any ROM. I have installed WiFi Fixer and it doesn't help. It does tell me that signal strength from the router is excellent.
The router at home is an older LinkSys. We use no security at all but rather give the router specific device MAC addresses. We have three different laptops in the house and they all work perfectly with the same router. My wife and daughter both have iPhones, and they work perfectly with the router. So it's only my phone.
What can anyone recommend in the way of troubleshooting this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Have you tried an older ROM version like 4.3 or 4.4? Could be they dropped support for your older router. Also under WiFi settings have you changed anything on your phone?

Thanks, Dark Jedi. I found a thread that advised going to advanced settings, then to Wi-Fi Direct, and renaming the device as HTC One. Seems to have done the trick.
