Hey
Im running CyanogenMod 7 on my Desire Z and I have 2 splash screens: The stock HTC one followed by the CyanogenMod splash screen. How can I change the CyanogenMod 7 one?
A related question, how can I remove one of them and only have one splash screen?
Thanks

This belongs in the Q and A section,
To awnser your question, the first screen you see is a splash screen, I use adb to flash a new one.
Instructions here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948148&highlight=splash
The CM7 screen you see is a boot animation, you can change this several ways, the easiest is to place a new boot animation named bootanimation.zip in your data/local file with something like root explorer.

First, wrong section. Second the slash screen you're referring to is called a boot animation. And yes you can change that to whatever you want. Plenty of threads about it.

From my experience using CM7, i think your talking about the slash screen (HTC logo) then the boot-animation(Android on the skateboard). I know there are threads here on how to change both but I dont know how to get rid of one.
here is how to change boot animation
/system/bootanimation/bootanimation.zip, replace that zip with the one you downloaded
here is an easy way to change the splash screen

Can an incorrectly created splash image actually brick a phone?
I see everyone saying to be very careful you do not brick your phone while replacing your splash image but I have also read that only flashing the wrong SPL or Radio can truly brick the phone.
Which is right?
From my own Personal experience no. I changed my splash image before and it was corrupted so it just showed lines but stiill booted up correctly. So of course i reflashed the orginal splash image

what they mean is when you flash splash img make sure its type right to the mmcblk9(not sure if thats right) if you put in wrong it can brick yes... but doing everything right and if its a bad image then no it will either black screen or the lines
Splash img... lol confused

Thanks ilostchild! Now I understand. So that means if you use the fastboot method to change your splash you're probably pretty safe?

well in fastboot if you did flash it to the wrong mmcblk it is possible to wipe and everything and flash rom back..
but either way its always good to know what you doing and make sure type everything how it is...
i tried deleting the boot up file...
And for the boot up sound how do I change that?
sgs tools doesnt work...
First off are you rooted? Second are you running a custom rom? If these apply then it should be as easy as replacing the bootanimation.zip file of your choice in the "system/media" folder.

does swiss count as custom rom? and yes i am rooted.

Correct me if I'm wrong (anyone) but I think as of now there's no boot animations mods for ee03 (GB).

Sorry can't (don't know how to) post links using the xda app. Just look under the "themes and app" section and you'll see a few posts on boot animation. There's different types but the method is the same. Again it depends if your running a custom rom

Am I the only one who has the feeling you are not looking for an answer at all? I mean, I can't be too far off with someone who opened 7 new threads in less than a month?
Maybe forums simply are not cut out for you?

Check /data/local or /system/media. If you cannot find it there, then just copy the bootanimation.zip to /data/local (usual place where bootanimation are stored in Sense-roms) and reboot. If you still see the standard bootanimation of RunnyMede, place the bootanimation.zip in /system/media and reboot. If you still cannot see your bootanimation, check the rom's thread and / or write a PM to the dev.

You'll have to Root and Install a Stock Unbranded ROM.
OR
Root and remove the 02 Splash screen using Root explorer.
Either way, you need to Root.
Thank you for your reply.
Can you tell me which method is easier and where do i get step by step instructions?
Thanks

You can do titanium backup (market) but I am not sure if you can backup system apps+data without root. But most of things can be saved.
Nothing on internal memory - virtual server - will be lost so photos and music is safe..
Don't forget about nandroid backup

Hello TommUK.
I have full root and am using ES File Explorer fully set up to mount read/write Root.
Could you please tell me the location of the splash screen on the One X and the file name ?
the usual splash1.img as per all my other HTC's doesnt seem present.
Any help would be unreal, I have made custom up and down animations and would like a matching splash before I post them for all to see !
Thnx.

Cant remember where it goes but i remember having to rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip. If you take a look in themes & apps section there are plenty of threads explaining properly

He's talking about the splash screen, not the boot animation. On previous HTC phones you needed s-off to be able to write to splash using fastboot; I imagine it's the same on this phone, which means currently we can't change it (until someone manages to obtain s-off). I certainly haven't seen a method mentioned anywhere.
Sorry, but there is NO possibility to remove a splash-screen on One X. You can remove/exchange boot-animation, but the absolute first picture shown during boot is hidden in a partition that is not accessible without s-off. And even with s-off would be a rather complicated adventure, becasue all the tools existing for older HTC-Phones do not work with the resolution of One X.
Going to ask this too here.
Does anyone have the old HTC boot animation, like this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MY5eoJ2GkH4#t=66s
If yes, possible to get it as flashable zip, with that sound too, or someway to replace the bootanimation + sound to that?
I like it more than the One series boot animation.
Not sure if this will work. But you can try this:
