Hi
This might (probably will) sound like a silly question. But I'm looking at getting a Desire HD thats locked to T-Mobile UK (coming from Dell Streak). I've been round a few forums now and I have seen that in order to put a custom rom on it I would need a 'Gold Card' as its sim locked.
Now the question is 'Will getting a gold card for it and installing a custom rom unlock it? Or would it be easier to just get it unlocked before i consider the custom rom?
Thanks
John
Goldcard will not unlock it, it just allows you to use my downgrade guide. Then after downgrading you can use my Radio S-OFF tool (link in signature), which can fully SIM unlock your phone.
Ok thanks for your fast reply. At least I know what I will need to do now

Hello, i have one piece htc wildfire which is network locked...can anyone tell me how to unlock it?
create goldcard and flash with any wwe rom you want
Hey,
I got an unlock code off of htcsimunlocknow.com but I am not sure how to enter it into my phone. It has been flashed with CM6 RC2 and it won't ask for any sort of sim unlock code even if I put an invalid sim into the phone. I know the phone is locked with the Telstra for sure!!
So if anybody knows how to enter the unlock code I would be able to say how reliable that site is!!
EDIT: THANK GOD. I had a nandroid backup of the original rom that came with the phone so I just flashed back to that. Inserted the invalid sim after the flash and it asked for the unlock code which I entered and IT WORKED!!
Also, the site i mentioned has a live chat and the fella helping me was so patient as it took my about 30mins for me to actually pay as I was stuffing around withy my paypal and he got the unlock sent to my email about 10mins after the payment went through! I'm not sure if flashing back to cm6 will make the phone locked to one network again though :/

gold cards are fairly easy to make all you need is a spear sd card (doesnt have to be very big) heres a guide: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
As far as I know, with a goldcard you can root and debrand your phone, but not sim-unlock it.
If it is possible to remove the sim-lock using a goldcard, please explain how.
Confirmation
I confirm, I just spent the night flashing my new wildfire to simunlock it, the flashing finally worked but it is still sim locked !!!
Really very surprising, it means the simlock info is stored somewhere which was not affected by the flashing, which is quite astounding.
If you have any info about what to delete for that...
I unlocked my wildfire for 25 euro on the web. I sent my IMEI and in about 2 hours they sent the unlock code and it worked perfectly.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Who is your provider?? you can try unlock code from your provider and get your HTC wildfire unlocked..if not you can get it from online provider..just make a try with Prounlocking and get unlock code for your mobile and get it unlocked..
Go to a phone unlocking shop. I got one done for £15 in the uk. Or you could ask about and see if you know anyone with a xtc clip. As that will s-off your device and remove sim lock. Good luck
Also sim lock stuff is stored in with the hboot and radio and stuff.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I found a code for $9 at Nck Codes. It wouldn't work with CM7, has to put a stock ROM on the phone to unlock then flash CM7 again.
I'm assuming I need to create a Goldcard, just wanted to check first.
I have a Desire HD from Three (3) UK, which has a custom boot animation with the 3 logo, and has some 3 branded apps that cannot be removed via deleting.
Am I right in thinking that I need to follow to GoldCard Route to downgrade and root before flashing another rom?
2.3.3
Build 2.36.771.14
Yes, you need a Goldcard because you have a branded D HD
you can try gingerbreak, but it may not work.
If it doesnt work, then YES you need a goldcard.
for downgrading you can use a few methods:

or

for the first thread, if you're having any issues, please refer to pages 28 and up for answers

The goldcard procedure or downgrading is needed if you attend to replace your Rom with a custom one.
You can use your phone with any sim you like but with the specific rom you haver right now.

yes, all you have is the simlock unlocked. a goldcard is required to load a stock PD98IMG with a different CID.
Hi, I'm new to this forum. How do I unlock my HTC Wildfire S without paying for it?
If I root it, will I able to unlock it? :S
Welcome to xda-developers.
As in most fora, you should start reading existing threads.
In short:
If you have CDMA device, unlocking without a special hardware has been figured out.
If you have a GSM device, unlocking without the so called XTC-Clip is not yet possible, but first approaches have been made to even unlock those devices.
Probably it's just a matter of time.
Third big hope is, that maybe Wildfire S gets supported by HTC to unlock bootloader. But this won't make Wildfire S S-Off after all, it will just let you install custom roms and root your device. Radio and stuff will be still locked.
So please take your time to read around a bit.
So How do I find out of my device is CDMA or GSM?
gms= sim card
cdma= no sim card
Phone: HTC Wildfire S (Virgin Mobile US) A510c
Rom: stock gb 2.3.4 / sense 2.1, rooted (s-off)
Recovery: still playing around
Hboot: 1.06.0000
I would also recommend *NOT* flashing any of the available custom ROMs available to you at this time. In my uneducated opinion, they are GSM roms, incompatible with CDMA phones. So if you do indeed have a CDMA phone (virgin mobile), as I do, don't flash anythin to it. Rooting should be fine.
true that (already bricked a phone installing cm7)
cdma atm only has 1 rom working but it's got several bugz
Take a look at the website of your provider:
http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/networks/network_info/gsm-gprs.html
I guess you have a gsm device.
so not even after htc gave away bootloader unlocking this isn't possible?
hi
I have a desire which I have rooted and S-OFF 'd and also put 4ext recovery and alpha-rev hboot
do I need to perform more shenanigans to sim unlock? or is that covered by S-OFF ?
thanks
nat
s-off is just security off, it has no effect on ur sim.
if u search Desire Android Development theres a tool there that can unlock ur sim card. think its called "HTC Desire sim unlock" or something like that.
but for flashing roms etc, it doesnt matter if ur sim is unlocked or not.
Sent from my HTC Desire
i think its best to unlock your sim you never know when you might need to put someone elses sim in your phone & if you've gone to all the trouble of rooting it you might as well unlock the sim to then its completly under your control & its not hard lol
Good evening all,
I am very new to all of this so please be bear with me. I have searched through the forum extensively but haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.
I have an HTC One X (Endeavoru / Tegra 3) which is currently network locked to T-Mobile UK.
I have followed various guides on XDA carefully and successfully unlocked the bootloader using HTCDev code & adb/fastboot, rooted my phone and installed Cyanogenmod 12.0. It is all working perfectly and I'm very happy with the results.
My problem is I want to put in an O2 Sim Card and my phone is locked to T-Mobile UK. I purchased an unlock code for £9.99 (officialunlockcodes.com) and popped in my O2 Sim but after inputting the code into my phone, it said that the unlock was NOT successful and I still get the same message (Network / Perso Lock).
So my first question is, is the fact that my phone is running a custom ROM & unlocked/rooted preventing the unlock code from working?
My second question is a about reverting back to original HTC settings/software in order to unlock the network.
I read on a forum that someone else had issues using an unlock code on a custom ROM with unlocked bootloader. He reverted back to stock ROM and locked the bootloader and it worked for him. He then reinstalled the custom ROM and it was all fine. I have tried (and failed) to do the same but I cannot find any stock ROM or a Nandroid backup that is compatible with my phone.
The version is 3.16.110.6 and the CID is tmob005. Htboot version is 1.39.
I used TWRP Recovery & this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-...avoru-t3022358 for updating to the new storage layout for HTC One X Endeavoru and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-...-12-0-t2976389 for my installation of Cyanogenmod 12.0. (both great resources!)
When I unlocked the bootloader & rooted my phone, I used ClockworkMod as the recovery tool and I did take a back up. However, I foolishly wiped my SD card & storage before I updated to the new storage layout (and changed to TWRP recovery tool) when I was installing Cyanogenmod 12.0 a few days later so as far as I'm aware, I can't simply restore my original ROM.
Does anyone have any ideas? Ideally, all I want to do is unlock the carrier/network and continue using my phone as it is with Cyanogenmod 12.0 but if I need to revert back to stock ROM to unlock the network, I'm prepared to do that. I just don't know how as I've searched through the collections and archives here and can't find a stock ROM or Nandroid backup that's compatible. I may be getting myself very confused on this as I don't really understand CID so I hope I've not missed anything obvious.
I've also tried achieving S-OFF with firewater & rumrunner but it fails and from what I can tell through various threads and research, S-OFF isn't possible yet for my model of HTC One X.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much Amber

Hi.
I have HTC One X (Endeavoru / htc_europe).
It is S-OFF and supercid 11111111.
Is it possible to remove the operator's SIM lock?
If yes - please advise or give links and I will read them.
I was not able to find a working way to do it.
Hope someone could help.
