I'm just asking if there is a way to control the softkeys brightness... (apart from light sensor )
I have been trying to look for a solution to this but as of now none seems to be existent
comparing the capacitive button brightness of 2.1 > 2.2 and CM7 2.3
2.1 seems to have a higher capacitive button brightness than the other 2 OS
The application LEDS hack can turn it off / on with a widget.
I have the same issue. Anyone have a solution?
In Eclair Rom, the brightness was very stronger.

hi, i'm using HTC Desire HD with leedroid rom and kernel.
i read that to save more battery, i must turn down the screen brightness to a low level. but i want to use the auto brightness function but sometimes it isnt accurate to the environment(sorry for bad english). uhm any tweaks or mods that has customized auto brightness? thanks in advance guys
I found that the best thing to do is to do it manualy by using the brightness level app on the market which has a slider on it.
I use Tasker to set the screen brightness to levels defined by me in response to ambient light levels. Takes some experimentation to get it working right, but it's worth it.
Or then you can switch to CM7 as it has all screen adjustments built in the settings i.e automatic screen dimming level adjustments, different levels etc etc.
Just flashed nordic 2.2 on my defy (2.1 with motoblur before) and my display is not that bright as it was before! Don't like it and wonder if it should be like this in this rom or is there anyway to fix it?
The Defy is stock with Nordic 2.2 Froyo, no root and a factory reset has been done.

Motorola changed display brightness levels on Android 2.2 as on 2.1 were wrong (very bright even at lower setting)
so, there's nothing wrong with that, you've to adjust new levels to your liking
Eclair Defy Brightness settings were a little bit wrong, so you just need to adjust your brightness setting in Settings -> Sound&Display -> Brightness
ok thanx for the answers but i still liked it better before, wrong or not it was better i sunligt/dayligt with brighter display. Even if i set the brightness at max and no automatic brightness its hard to see anything on the display in a sunny day
Isn't it any way to solve this on froyo or do i have to go back to eclair? I may be stupid but if i can't use the pfone in daylight at example in my boat with navigation like i did before it's useless with froyo
This actually sucks, because i've never had any problems in direct sunlight woth 2.1 and now i have many situations when i just dont see anything on a screen. But i down want to dismiss automatic brightness....
It would be great if someone would write and application to tweak default auto brightness curve... like in beta version of juice defender - but without all other functions of that app...

I know there are some scrips available for other devices to turn the softkey backlight off/on and I was wondering if someone could create one for the HTC one X as well.
When I am in bed the leds below the softkeys are more bright that the screen and that is pretty annoying.
I would like to have that as well or maybe a feature of custom ROM may be possible?

There is currently a mod floating around in the development forum that lets you change the lowest brightness setting for the screen when in automatic mode.
Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the brightness of the soft buttons also? Would be nice to have those change brightness depending on ambient light too as they sort of bleed through the bottom of the screen when its dark for me.....
Roger that! I am also eagerly expecting a mod to change the capacitive button brightness.. Its so bright and distinct when I match movies!

..yeah thats also possible, its in the same file.
I don't whether i'm hallucinating or what, but i noticed that when i change the autobrightness levels in ViperX ROM/Faux 10u, the levels are not consistent.
for example i turn on the screen(in the dark) and the brightness should be at its lowest (20) then when I turn the brightness manually to lowest it gets a little darker.
I think my default brightness are overriding the custom levels whenever i turn off the screen, Can anyone with similar ROM/Kernel confirm this ? or someone noticed this on any other ROM ? (check my signature for more details about my Phone)
CM brightness control doesn't work!

First of all i would like to thank the developers of Android Viper X for creating the best Android OS in history It's amazing!! :good: I’am using this OS now for 1 week, and I’am stunned by the amazing performance!! The only problem i have is that my CM brightness control function does not work anymore after upgrading from OS: 2.7.1 to >>>>>,>> 3.2.3. So i hope someone can tell me what causes this problem.
