Hello every one
here I just bought the Motorola Defy, which I find wonderful on all items, apart from the low autonomy and some bugs, particularly in the allocation of the 9 speed dial numbers, I select the speed dial from the contacts, everything goes normal, I try to call ok, but some time later, 1 / 2 hour or so, when I try to call in short, he no longer recognizes contacts allocated, it said "no contact is assigned to the 2 key", and the same for all numbers, when I check, there are no more contacts assigned to speed dialing, and whenever I am obliged to allocate a new .
Someone had this problem?
is there any solutions?
thank you in advance
PS: Excuse my bad English
anybody here can help me please
ok if u have set a contact in speed dial and u wanna make a call to that contact then u need to keep the number of the speed dial pressed for 2-3 seconds until it makes the call, it wont call the number if you press the speed dial number (i.e 0-9) and then the call button...
i had that problem too on stock eclair (im guessing you use that too). just try to exclude the dialler of your task manager (if you dont use any, then start using es task manager), maybe that will help!

It's a known behaviour of the Xda II with Caller ID / Photo Contact.
The reason why Caller ID sometimes display the picture and sometime it doesn't, is because Caller ID is quietly killed by the 32-processes limit. Please do a search on the 32-process limitation to know more. However, Caller ID in the new ROM is rather robust as it would reload itself in a shorter time after it has been killed by the OS.
Please do a search on the 32-process limitation to know more.
how to do? not really understand! can u teach me? thanks!
the explanation of the 32-process limitation can be found here: http://www.ppcw.net/index.php?itemid=1645
Now, for a phone edition pocket pc, you "seemingly" can do multitaksing on such small capacity of RAM and processor speed ... however the truth is ONLY 32 processes can be run at any one time. So, when you hit the limit, the operating system will have to kill off the old and idle process to allow a new process to take place. Here's why IA Caller ID takes the hit all the time, as it was loaded at startup and probably have not been active much.
Nothing much you can do, just try to close each program when you don't use it anymore. Use "Running Programs" to close them.
thanks,chriswo , r u from kl? i from penang, nice to know u!!!!
my mob no is: 07743889117
my voicemail no is: 01234567891 (suppose)
i ve tried searching around on the forum and found 1 thread where this topic was discussed, however it was quite confusing.
my o2 XDA IIs used to divert calls to my voicemail only after 15 seconds, however i wanted to change this to 30 seconds and then came across a thread on the forum here.
i used a long command starting with: **61*077453889117....
(i ve forgotten the last few sequences of the command)
so neways, it did the trick, the timer was delayed to 30seconds, however here is the PROBLEM: when sum1 calls, it rings for 30seconds, and then it says: "ur call z being trasferred....ur call being transferred, THE NUMBER YOU HAVE CALLED IS NOT RECOGNISED"
any1 knows how 2 fix my problem n get the diverts to my voicemail up n running again?
if you are going to write the commands, can u plz use my above given numbers so that i know exactly what to do.
many thx
any1 at all?
Hi SenzAsian
I have had mixed success with using the codes. Don't have it to hand right now, but will try and find tonight. But a better plan is to just call tech support. They can just change it on the server side for you. I think 40 seconds is the max... Have you tried that?
Regards
Chris
If you do a search on Google for "gsm codes" then several pages are returned. Try one or more of these for advice if the command I give below is no good.
If you have an O2 XDA IIs I am assuming you are on the O2 UK network. The number after the **61* bit should be the number of the O2 voicemail service. Therefore, the command for a 30sec delay to divert to voicemail after not answering your phone is:
**61*+447802091901*30#
Then press the GREEN send button.
Hope this helps.
hey guys, thank u very much for ur input!
mvsmith, thx man, it worked! however, ur command was missing a * towards the end, so let me write down the proper command in case other users need to set their delay times:
Steps:
1. find ur voicemail number (not ur mob number)!
2. so suppose ur voicemail no is: +447743888888, then
3. on the xda fone scree, type in: **61*447743888888**30#
(the **30# at the end will set it to a 30seconds delay b4 it goes to ur voicemail)
4. click send/talk
5. wait for a few seconds
6. DONE!
i am looking to find a way to aphend the phone prefix from dialing 1 whenever i place a call.
I could do it on my tp but the tp2 doesnt have that option
getting down to almost 0 tweaks i want
Please put the issue you need help with in your thread title.
It's just good practice.
if you're doing it from your contact list & the number doesn't have the 1 in it, it shouldn't dial it. If you're doing it from your call history from a received call or even from a received text, since those come in as 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX all the time, then it will have the 1 in front of it.
I'm curious, why does it matter?
well on the touch pro if you didnt eneter a 1 into contacts and someone called you it wouldnt show your contact as calling. but it looks like the tp2 works for caller id.
to many ****ty software glitches in the TP glad its gone.
htc's worst cellphone for sprint
Had this problem with my hero as well.
How do you take a number down if you are on a call?
ie if on a call asking for a number from the other person how do you write it down and use it for next call?
On nokias, the number you input stays after you hang up, so you can call, save etc.. But on Android, when you hang up the number you input disappears too!
AM i missing a way to do it (short of saving it to contacts (which i might not want to do), or dialling and hanging up)?
you can tap the number you enter which will dial the number you entered followed by immediately ending the call which will store it in your call history and return you to the original call all in about 2 secs. Not exactly elegant but works.
thats pretty much what i do, but its so silly to do it that way I thought ther MUST be a better way. I mean its not exactly a rare or unusual feature to need, is it? ;-)
I normally use a pen......Have done for a while now and it never fails
This applies to the stock dialer - don't know if it works like this on Sense.
Press Add Call, enter the digits. Now long-press the entered number. Select cut or copy. Then back button to cancel Add Call. After the call is over you can paste it back into the dialer the same way or into a contact.
Just tried, didnt work, no long press, any press just dials the number...
Now you've reminded me of another question:
The software usuuuaaaallly recognises number formats in emails or texts, and hyperlinks them to the dialer. HOWEVER Ive never been able to PASTE a number (copied from somehwere that the software didnt recognise as a number) into the sense dialer. Anyone can confirm this is not possible?
I'm unable to paste too on FroYo.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Ah, well it was worth a shot. I haven't spent more than a few minutes on a Sense phone so I'm not so well-acquainted with how the dialer works. I can confirm that the stock dialer of both Milestone's Eclair and N1's Froyo has an editable text field, in which one can long-press to get the "Edit Text" popup.
Can a Sense Android use an alternate dialer app?
there are thousands of notes apps thats what there for lol i think even htc has a notes widget for sence (i cant remember) neway yeah use your apps
There is an app which specifically does what you want. It's called Number Saver and it shows up in the notification bar whenever you make a call.
cool, will check it out!
Always weird that someone has to come up with an app for some function that should have been there to begin with, oh well!
Hey, everyone,
I've got a prob with Smart Dialing on my CDMA Rhodium running a stock WM6.5 ROM. Okay, here we go...
Whenever I delete a call entry of a contact from the Call History, Smart Dialing no longer works for that name. If, however, I manually dial any of the contacts numbers, the call dialog displays the contact name, and from that point on, the entry's returned. Soft resetting does not return the contacts, only manual dialing.
It seems pretty random, but it's a real pain in the @$$. Has anyone had this problem, and if so... HEEELP!!
