Don't know properly but let me try to answer,
u can only apply update.zip on recovery if they are signed by htc as its s-on and no one is still came with root for hboot 1.01.x its hardly locked so sign by htc for that update.zip is needed.
In simple, Not possible unless signed by htc...

talking about wildfire with S-ON here....
S-ON actually checks the update files whether they are signed by htc or not, and installs only the signed ones.
As ur hboot is 1.01 with S-ON, u must be on official froyo. In that case, u shouldn't be having another update file signed by htc presently. So u will be getting the error "Signature Verification Failed".
Why dont u try that as there is no harm in doing so. First copy ur update.zip file to the root of the sd card. then reboot into hboot menu and select recovery. U will see a red triangle. Now press the volume up + power key. There u will find the option to install update. So try it and check the error. And AFAIK, it is almost impossible to spoof the signature of htc.
If u have enough time, try this one also (only on ur wildfire with hboot 1.01 and S-ON). Get the official froyo ota update of ur region. It will be a zip file signed by htc. Put that zip file in the root of the memory card and rename the zip file to "update.zip" . Then go to recovery and try to install this. It will be installed because it is signed by htc (and moreover it is not a downgraded one).
Hi bharat, I am trying to do an OTA manually the version released last in India.
I got the following error, with "status 7". I was already having Froyo from an RUU update that I did, is that the reason for getting the error "Status 7"

Sorry, don't know about that "status 7" error.
Try to give more details and u might get answer frm someone. hboot version (0.80 or 1.01.0001 or 1.01.0002), S-ON or S-OFF (expecting s-on), Region of phone manufacture, Which froyo ruu u have used.
EDIT: Just googled the "status 7" error. Seems like it was the problem with rooted phone. So if ur phone is rooted, i think u will have to unroot ur phone first for the OTA update to work. And be aware of that OTA update will make ur phone unrootable (as now)
[im expecting u have used a rooted froyo rom (a zip file not an exe file)]

Hello Folks,
i have a problem with my Wildfire (was Branded with T-Mobile DE)
I have downloaded the Update for Superuser and now it always say that my SU Binary is too old. But if i want to update it, it get an error at the point to get the /System write rights.
How do i get it work?
Here are some informations from the Bootloader of my Phone:
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0002
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO.3.35.20.10
May 13 2010,22:09:43
The currently installed ROM is CM7 Nightly 199
and the CWM Version is 2.5.0.1
And sorry for my bad English, i prefer German
From what I could tell, the S-ON seems to be the problem.
and how do i make it s-off?
cause my h-boot is 0.80.0002 and Alpharev X only works with 1.00.0001
From i know you need to update to official 2.2 with a RUU and then s-off.
Check one of stickies in development for more details.

Hi, can't remember exactly my method but try to explain best I can.
I flashed safe not rooted rom from 3xeno's sticky page. Then I downloaded on PC the ruu. Exe and this is the part o can't remember but I got the rom image from the exe and turned it into a pc49 img then placed on SD root and rebooted into hboot? ( Power + vol down ). It did its magic then I just used revolutionary to s-off and did clean install of cm7 to replace revs su. Hope this makes sense!!! And is of help.

To update the su, just flash the signed zip from here: http://androidsu.com/superuser/
With a RUU, you must be in Android. (so not fastboot or anything else).
Then, if it works.
You open Revolutionary (you found it on revolutionary.io) in admin mode. And then it's okay
Hey guys,
I have a htc desire wich have a booting loop. i try to reinstall diferrent roms but unsuccesfull. I need official rom version 2.22.75.3 from orange spain. if anyone can help me with that will be much apreciated.
Thanks
There are no Orange RUU's available. You can use the Gingerbread dev RUU from HTCdev.com This unbrands but retains warranty with HTC.
i can't find anytyhing there. If i try to put the rom on a sdcard and use a gold card to flash the phone, when i try to flash teh phone i receive thsi message " can't open zip file " I'm kinda stuck here
http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Yeah its stupid that site, you have to go to "kernel source2 then "See downloads" to get to the link above.
same shi... " open zip file failed "....
What zip file? Its an .exe that you run from your PC.
strange...i've downloaded HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade wich is a zip file. i put that zip file on a gold card and when i press power button to flash it i receive that message. btw ,wich file is an exe file from that download website?
The top one that says HTC android 2.3 upgrade. The exe may be within a zip, not sure but its the exe you must use

Try to download a PB99IMG.zip rom from shipped-roms. com and put it in your goldcard, maybe it will work.

finaly i flashed the phone with the flash specified, but now i am stuck on hboot 1.02.0001 an di can't unlcok the phone. Is there any option to downgrade to 0.93.0xxx?
What do you mean unlock the phone?
You wanted to return to stock, I assumed for warranty return. What exactly do you want to do? if this is not the case you should remember to be clear about the infromation you give in your first post.
yes, now i'm on a stock rom. but is there any posibility to downgrade to HBOOT 0.93.xxx1 because i want to unlock the phone now, and hboot 1.02.xxx1 is not supported
What do you mean by unlock???????
phone is network locked. and i want to use vodafone sim. utill that i used orange spain sim.
Ok just wanted to be clear.
Best bet use revolutionary to s-off, then fastboot flash their downgrader.img hboot. This will allow you to flash an older RUU hopefully without need for goldcard

Good Morning,
I got myself in a situation and I'm not sure how to get out of. My phone is rooted and before had s-off with hboot .93 and baseband 2.15.00.0808. I wanted to try a rom that only worked with certain versions of hboot. So I updated my hboot to 0.97 and I lost my s-off. Currently I can't use unrevoked because my baseband is not supported. I also can't use revolutionary because my hboot is not supported. Is there anything I can do to get my s-off again thank you.

Have you tried running an RUU.exe from fastboot? Maybe the 4.53 update, so you can be able to root with Revolutionary.
Here is Football's RUU folder.

No these are RUU.exe you run from your Windows machine. You could also try Captain_Throwback's PC36IMG.zip's you can flash from the HBOOT from the post here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16949711&postcount=15
either the 4.54 or the 3.70 so you will be able to root with either Unrevoked or Revolutionary.
Ok its downloaded just curious do you think this will brick my device before I go through and install it just want to be sure Its not going to brick it
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html
I tried this and I got error failed to get root is your firmware to new.
If succesful an RUU restores your device back to stock firmware. There should not be a brick.

Make sure you have the necessary drivers for Windows.
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
Have you tried the PC36IMG.zip?
According to G&E all HBoots are now downgradeable as of 3/15/12 so try downgrading back to your old HBOOT that worked. There's also a thread on here, I think it (Radios) by Caulkin it where I get all the latest radios, combo zips, hboot versions and more, great resource, good luck.

Just use the 4.54 PC36IMG.zip file from my post that someone linked earlier, and flash it through Bootloader. Then you can re-root/unlock using Revolutionary.

eminbestek, just flash the RUU u used to downgrade and then once u are done, just re run the kit. you won´t be able to flash and insecure image with S-ON.

when u ran the kit, it downloaded a file called PD98IMG-GBx.zip (where x is a number). That file should be in the PD98IMG folder of the Hack kit. Rename that file PD98IMG.zip (case sensitive and make sure that you don´t double the extension, such as .zip.zip) and put it in the root of the sdcard. Then, boot in hboot (power + volume down) and let it prompt you for update. Just press volume up to update and let it finish. Once it is done, you should have a working phone again...
SD Checking:
Loading PD98DIAG.zip..
No image found
Loading PD98DIAG.nbh
No image or wrong image
Loading PD98IMG.zip..

Cheking.. [PD98IMG.zip]
Than it says;
Main Version is older!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
What could be wrong? I've tried the process several times, deleted and recopied the PD98IMG.zip file, but it doesn't change anything.

How are You guys trying to downgrade the phones?
Hi guys, as you can see I´m a rockie here and I apologise if this isn´t the right place for my query.
I unlocked the bootloader with htcdev token, and installed the CloclWork recovery, and I did a backup. After that I flashed the Jelly Been Rom, I used it for about 24 hours and don´t want to use it anymore. How can I downgrade my HTC desire HD. Just to say I have S-on
When I go to recovery and try to backup the original (file system) I got stuck at the hTC logo...
Could anyone help me?

That is possile if the RUU is older than the one currently on your phone. If this is not the case, try to flash the RUU via the program and from hboot.

Obviously , since I have Cyanogenmod 10 installed the RUU version is older. CM10 is somehow preventing the RUU to execute correctly,
I have tried to run the RUU with Hboot but it didn't recognized the phone.
your backup is older than the bootloader version now you have .

Sorry I will be clearer. The ruu has two thing before start. It evaluates your cid and hboot version. If you had (my example here) a 2.22 stock and you want to flash the ruu of the 2.02 version it will not work because the hboot in your phone is newer. This is a security measurement for you not to be able to downgrade your os.
Even more, ruu needs stock recovery, stock kernel, and the phone to be either "locked" or "relocked". And more, if you has custom is on the phone that time, the ruu will only work from fastboot usb mode.
It is a joke tough that in these phones unlock and custom os is easily achivable, while going back to stock is like a pain in the ass.
