Vodafone Mobile Connect India, Bangalore - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi People,
Need help. I have the 2gb data plan from Vodafone & when I'm connected to the Mobile Network from my DHD I do not get incoming calls. I've tried contacting the customer care but, it really sucks. They say it should not happen & they just reset the same but, it does not make any difference. Please help.

3 UK Data Roaming Charge?

Hi. Just got my unbranded desire on 3 UK contract. I saw data roaming in settings. I take it that this allows me to use mobile internet when I'm out of 3's signal. Is there any extra charge for using this? I have 'unlimited' internet on my contract. Thanks

3 roams onto Orange 2G when their 3G network is unavailable. There's no charge for this for either voice or data, as it is just part of an agreement 3 have with Orange as 3 do not have a 2G network.
If you go abroad though, using data whilst roaming will cost you an awful lot of money unless your network has special packages in place (e.g. Vodafone and T-Mobile).
Regards,
Dave
Ah ok thanks for that Dave.

Query Regarding Getting the Desire from London

Well the topic is about the Desire and how to get it but I was not sure which forum to put it in so posted it here.
Well my Brother is moving to London for 2 years. Now he has his N95 (unlocked) which he would like to continue using as he has his paid apps installed on it and stuff.
Now he's getting a HTC Desire on contract. So If he uses the Contract Sim in his N95 and sends back the Desire to me here in India, I could unlock it and use it with any data carrier here in India right?
Yes you could unlock / debrand the Desire and use it on another network.

you will be able to use it no probs in india, you may want to check with the network you use in india and make sure that they use a compatible 3g band if that is important to you

He will be either on T Mobile or Vodafone
The network won't care right even if he's using his contract sim in his other unlocked phone?

Oh and one more thing.
Some guy on tech enclave was saying that if you unlock your phone using the unlock code the phone will once again get locked after I update my phone software to Froyo.
Is that true? I thought this only happened in iPhones? If it's true what are my alternative means of unlocking?
Thank you everyone
Simply re use the same unlock code you originally used to unlock the phone and you'll be fine.

That would work right? Or will they not let you re use the same code?
It worked for me when my phone was re locked after debranding, its worked for others on here too.

Could you tell me what site you or others used for unlocking the phone from which you could re use the key?
Anyone know How much would it cost in customs to get a Desire from the UK to India?

[Q] Dual Sim Card Question

Hey, I have an unbranded desire on 3 network 2 year contract.. I'm now going over my text messages massively and need more but 3 want £5 for 75 add-on. o2 want £5 for unlimited with simplicity.
Is there any way I can use dual sims to take advantage of o2's unlimited texts?
If I used an adapter would I receive texts from both numbers at the same time or would I have to keep switching over to find out if I have received a message?
Thanks.
Have you considered using Gtalk for Andriod recipients?

[Q] Help: Might have messed up my phone

I just bought an unlocked Desire Z off ebay. Everything worked fine, calls, SMS, internet. I just did a phone reset to get some of the crap that the guy left on the phone off it and now it won't connect to the net. Phone and SMS still work and it's connected to the MTS network but no internet.
I know my carrier has been having some problems with the internet lately so it could just be that the net is down or did I mess the phone up by resetting it?
Shouldn't of messed anything up with the reset. Check your apns..but first since u said it might be your carrier wouldn't you check with them first? Part of your phone bill goes to "free tech support" so use it

Check with carrier make sure your network is not down, and makes sure APN are set to your carrier
Figured it out. Thanks for the help.

That shouldn't affect it because ressting or factory resetting is a system tool and doesn't have anything to do with your mobile services, talk to customer support.

When making calls. Network Data connection disappeared.

Hello,
I have slightly unusual problem after flashing radio recently. When I make a call internet connection sign disappears. I don't remember anything about original radio.
Thanks!
