htc wildfire root and read unlock code with microbox - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does anyone have any idea about this?

Server assisted unlocking. Probably it costs a few $$$. And, by the looks of it, it`s rooting a 2.1 phone.

that video shows wildfire with 2.1 update 1 (aka eclair) and hboot 0.80.0007
the wildfire with hboot 0.80 can also be easily rooted with unrevoked...
No software methods yet for wildfire with 2.2 (aka froyo) and hboot 1.01 , sorry

thanks for reply...

[Q] HTC Desire with HBOOT-0.93.000001

Hello,
I had an hardware problem with my Desire (problem with volume "-" key), so I made an echange.
On the new one, I'm already on orange rom with android 2.2 and hboot 0.93.000001.
Before I were in hboot 0.75, I was sure that I have an Amolex Desire and not an SLCD so it happened that after making him reflash orange rom (but at this moment, I didn't exchange my phone finally), I re downgrade the hboot to re put the 0.75 for re rooting it, because I was sure that it was to 0.75 by the past.
But I read that if I have an SLCD, i've to be careful and I'm afroid of SLCD Brick as described in aanother thread?
Do you advise me to root it with the last version of unrevocked without investigate to know with downgrade to 0.75 and knowing if it's an Amolex version?
Thanks
There is NO need to downgrade.. 0.93 is rootable from unrevoked use 3.21
And I think S-LCD brick is not due to root.. but it is due to wrong RUU flash.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

How to root a Wildfire with a Android application?

Hey
How can I root a Wildfire using a Android application (.apk) installed on the phone? I tried Gingerbreak and it reboots the phone, it gets "stuck" on one of the bootscreens; I say "stuck" because it stay on there after 3 minutes or so, I hit the power button and suddenly it gets unstuck but Superuser is NOT installed.
Using unrevoked or similar types of programs is not possible in my scenario. If it was, I would have used that the first time around and be done with this
Thanks for the help
Sadly the only ways I know of are unrevoked (hboot 0.80) or alpharev x beta (hboot 1.01). Just remember you use these tools at your own risk
Just so that you know AlphaRevX=/= Root.
AlphaRevX enables you to root, you still need to root it.

Yes, you can use gingerbread.apk to root you phone, but provided only when your phone is S-OFF either by xtc clip or by alpharevx.
If your hboot is 0.80 with s-on, then use unrevoked to root. Alternatively you can update the hboot to 1.01 and use alpharevx to s-off and then root. The advantage in doing this is having s-off. But read a bit in these forums about that.
And if your hboot is 1.01 with s-on, then only way presently is to make s-off and then root.
[Definitely there should be a need of PC for using unrevoked or alpharevx for a S-ON wildfire. When there is nand security, I think it is not possible to run something (other than HTC updates) from phone itself when it is in hboot/fastboot mode. Correct me if I'm wrong.]

The only for sure way that I personally know will root your phone is an XTC clip. Other methods could work but this is all I know. you MAY be able to make a gold card and downgrade to an hboot that will allow you to root using software methods but I really have no idea. sorry man, hopefully the others with that phone will chime in soon.

Did you htcdev your device to root?

yes it has been one of the methods i have attempted to root
Tbh mate there is no real reason to go to that boot, it won't give you anything new or useful aside from peace of mind, but, should you still want to try u think you would need to use the htcdev ruu again and lose your rom ect just remember to back up

been out for a while and want to install a new ROM again

hi guys,
In the past I used XDAdevelopers forum to install a custom ROM.
I own a HTC Desire and I have the following installed.
Android version : 2.3.3
HTC Sense version 2.1
Radio version 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23
Kernel version 2.6.35.10-g308ba26
Build number 2.36.405.8
Software number Reflex S 2.0.9 Lite A2SD+
It was quite easy to install new ROM's and I am curious if I have to be aware of new things like S-OFF and S-ON where I am reading about, or is that only for newer hardware?
I am having problems with my battery (also with my replacement) so I want to try to update my phone again.
If you have any hint, please let me know. In the meanwhile I will try to find out which radio/ROM/Kernel update I have to do.
hi, click the All Things Root Guide in my sig. loads of info there

Thanks jmcclue, a lot of useful information.
But the problem is that I already passed all those steps with installing the custom ROM on my Desire.
The only thing that is hard to find in all the manuals that are written, if I have to do something additionally now despite the Desire has already been rooted.
what does it say in ur bootloader menu?
turn off the phone and then hold volume down + power
and post what it says

Question! Does Revolutionary recommend to use a rom that doesnt implement any a2sd or data2sd scripts like Alpharev? That might be something he needs to consider before going S-Off (which I would recommend as well)

hmm good point batman. i know that revolutionry works even if ur rooted, but i honestly never thought bout if a2sd or data2sd scripts would affect it. after reading everything before i never came across it, it was never mentioned in any guides or that so i just assumed that it does'nt. will have to look into it more. thanks.
@ OP dont use revolutionary yet and il try find out more and u could search a bit too

Reason I asked is because alpharev had that as a requirement. Just to be on the safe side. Not sure about revolutionary since I never had to go back S-ON lol
after some googling i couldnt find anything to suggest that revolutionary wont work with an a2sd script, but after searching "Software number Reflex S 2.0.9 Lite A2SD+" that is a custom rom so that revolutionary will not work, revolutionary only works with official stock htc rom (rooted or not rooted) cheers stankyou, you learn something new everyday
I'm confused. Last week I S-OFFed my colleague's Desire on a custom ROM with A2SD (Insertcoin I think) with Revolutionary. Only S-OFF because his Desire was already rooted obviously.

cool, thanks for the info, i suppose it will work so. i guess as long as ur hboot is the same as what revolutionary requires it should work. its just strange that from what i found, basicaly u needed stock htc desire rom, rooted or not. if it worked for u then i guess it works

i suppose u can still flash some roms but s-off is better coz u can change hboots, and get more memory and install custom recovery if things go wrong lol. theres a few roms now that come with INT2SD and ul need CM7r2 hboot for them and basicaly uv a better choice of roms and theres just alot more u can do with ur phone with s-off.
