[Q] HTC Desire with HBOOT-0.93.000001 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I had an hardware problem with my Desire (problem with volume "-" key), so I made an echange.
On the new one, I'm already on orange rom with android 2.2 and hboot 0.93.000001.
Before I were in hboot 0.75, I was sure that I have an Amolex Desire and not an SLCD so it happened that after making him reflash orange rom (but at this moment, I didn't exchange my phone finally), I re downgrade the hboot to re put the 0.75 for re rooting it, because I was sure that it was to 0.75 by the past.
But I read that if I have an SLCD, i've to be careful and I'm afroid of SLCD Brick as described in aanother thread?
Do you advise me to root it with the last version of unrevocked without investigate to know with downgrade to 0.75 and knowing if it's an Amolex version?
Thanks

There is NO need to downgrade.. 0.93 is rootable from unrevoked use 3.21
And I think S-LCD brick is not due to root.. but it is due to wrong RUU flash.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Can Hboot 0.93 be replaced with alpharev Hboots and s-off like the previous Hboots?

[Q] [HOW-TO] HBOOT 0.83 to 0.80 again

I would like too see this one too. SLCD with 0.83 sucks.
What is the problem with HBOOT 0.83?
Yeah, I don't see the problem either?
Got my phone back from service, and the bootloader was 0.83 instead of the 0.80 I had before I shipped it in.
Does this mean that they used an SLCD screen instead of an AMOLED screen when they swapped displays?
It just means they put on the latest software. Your radio is probably updated too. If your screen was faulty they probably have replaced it with SLCD though.
So I can root with any normal guide for 0.80? Could you give me a link to a working one?
I got my desire last week, HBOOT 0.83 which means its an SCLD, if your on that hboot you have to have that type of screen, otherwise it would not work (afaik).
Anyway you can root this hboot easily now, took me 60 seconds (really!)

Rooting on HBOOT 0.83 is no different from 0.80. If you have an SLCD screen, it is slightly different but this has nothing to do with HBOOT.
HBOOT 0.83 does not mean you have an SLCD screen.

[Q] how get s-off based on 0.93 without downgrade

I just bought desire 1 weeks ago, My desire hboot is 0.93.0001, scld
I rooted my phone by unrevoked with recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93, and have flash a new rom.
But still s-on, i saw many treads about how to get s-off for 0.93 from chiese htcplayer forum, general methods are to downgrade 0.93 to 0.8x,
here i want to know if there is a simple method just like root with unrevoked, to get s off.
ps. i wanna clear that if root completely must include s -off

[Q] HTC Desire Upgrade HBOOT?

Ok so I have just upgraded the ROM on my HTC Desire from LeeDrOiD 2.3 to 2.4 and I have noticed on a few places mention that its possible to upgrade the HBOOT on the phone?
Is this correct or something that is not really relevant and should not be touched?
stock HBOOT got S-ON (NAND Protection by HTC).
As long as you get no problems flashing / booting new CustomROMs on your phone,
or if you dont need APPs whitch requires S-OFF, then there is no need of updating HBOOT.
Which HBOOT version do you have ? 0.93.0001 ?

Htc wildfire hboot 1.000.002

Hello guys!!!
I dont know if i post to the right place!(This is the first time i post a new thread)
I have an hTC wildfire with hboot version 1.000.002. I wanted to root with alpharevx but now it seems they removed the 1.02 hboot version for htc wwildfire from their site... , is there any way to downgrade from 1.02 to 1.01(my phone is nto branded)
Please help mee
Thanks in advance!
There are two things you can do:
1) Try on HBoot 1.01.0002 itself. There are cases when it works.
2) If that fails, the procedure to downgrade to 1.01.0001 is posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
thank you for your reply!
I will try the first method but the second link is only for branded devices, isnt it?
Nope, Its universally applicable for all devices on HBoot 1.01.0002
Thank you very much!!!
One more thing!
Do i have to do the step with the goldcard???
If you are following the guide to downgrade the HBoot, Yes, you have to.
A bit difficult but i will give it a try...
As I said, try running AlphaRev X directly without downgrading first. If it works, it's well and good, else, you have no choice but to go for the downgrade procedure.

[Q] Rooting wildfire a3333 hboot 0.80.0002

Hello everyone, i just got an old HTC Wildfire from my aunt and decided to root it and make it a useful secondary phone... the problem i ran into is the fact that it has HBOOT 0.80.0002.
I cant seem to figure out how to root it. I tried the full guide to rooting and de-branding but i got stuck first i tried to just use revolutionary, but that only supports hboot 1.01.0001 or something like that and then i tried to downgrade it (what u are supposed to do for 1.2.0002 hboot) but that didnt work either since i got stuck trying to create a goldcard image. Well i actually got the goldcard (found a functioning website online put in my CID and got the gold card, but the prtoblem was that i couldnt patch the mmc)
So anyone got any help for me? or a tip what tutorial i could try.
Phone info:
HTC Buzz (wildfire)
Hboot 0.80.0002
Radio 3.35.19.25
S-on
Firmware 2.1-update 1
Thanks for the help

If you run the unrevoked program it will root your phone with your current hboot. You could also consider working out your phones cid, (not the one from your goldcard) And then you could look for the correct update ruu. Upgrade to hboot 1.01.0001 and then use revolutionary and gain full s-off

Ok, unrewoked worked the second time around tried it before i posted here, but it stopped at pushing recovery image... i guess it must have been HTC sync (yeah forgot i had that instaled on this pc) when i uninstalled it as the software told me to it worked just fine. Rooted with CWM thanks for the help
Ok guys, is this even possible? I used Unrevoked and it worked nicely and got my phone rooted (super user) and CWM installed... but i still have S-ON... am i missing something here? should i flash something to get S-OFF or what? really confused right now...
Thanks.

Unrevoked never removed s-on, it used a root exploit to gain superuser access, install superuser and then flash a custom recovery. Revolutionary, which is a conjunction of team unrevoked and alpharev was the next step, after the upgrade to hboot 1.xx.xxxx unrevoked exploit no longer worked, so they found another I believe and forced a hacked bootloader into the phone, making it believe it was s-off even though the radio flag was still set to on confusing I know
so revolutionary s-off is from a patched hboot, and the xtc clip gives full radio s-off. The only real difference is that with xtc clip s-off you can remove SIM lock, but with the patched hboot you cannot, as the radio which houses the security (for all intents and purposes) is still set to on. The patched hboot just tells the hboot to ignore what the radio says and believe it is s-off all the time.
But before I ramble on you should be good to go with your hboot, but you may need to upgrade your recovery, in order to do this I believe you will need root and to flash the recovery by using a script called flash. I'll look Into it for you or, you could try the clockworkmod recovery app to flash the new recovery, you want 5.0.2.0 preferably
