Need the Latest Sprint PRL....Where can i find this?
I did a quick search through the forum and the latest one i found was from Nov 2010....
i need this as well
If you're using a sense-based rom, go to menu-settings-updates or something to that effect and then select update PRL.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
Im running CM7.0.3.1. Is there any way to update PRL without having to flash back to a Sense ROM?

There's a flashable of it somewhere, but I don't know.
Just backup, flash a sense rom, update, flash back. It takes of five minutes.
Thx guys. I just updated by flashing into a sense rom....i was trying to find a quicker way to switch back and forth between verizon network and sprint because i frequent an area with crappy sprint coverage.

No, download and unzip.
Put the .prl on the root of your sdcard, then in a sense Rom open the dialer and type ##prl# then wait for prompt
Then enter your MSL ( use MSL reader on market If you don't have) then choose the prl and hit ok, then hit menu and commit, it will then reboot

If I'm not mistaken you have to flash back to either stock or a gb rom that allows updating prl and stuff, update then flash back, but I also remember reading something bout long work arounds, you may have to do some Googling to find those

+1. Used Mobile ODIN to temporary boot to EL29 stock rom just last week & updated my PRL/fixed my GPS lock fine via this method. After watching/rewatching the video just to make sure I had all my files, it took maybe about 10 minutes at the most to do it and reflash back to CM9.
Hope you get that PRL update working OP!
In the future theres a temp el29 that was made a little while ago that'll save you some time and effort, it accomplishes the same thing....

I recently reverted back to stock recovery using the toolkit coming from CWM. I tried updating PRL or profile and I get the following error.
The PRL update could not be completed

I used Triangle Away to see if that had something to do with it but no luck. Any suggestions?

I think its a sprint issue. A lot of times when I flash a new ROM it will do that before data has a solid connection you can try the sprint diagnostics app. All credits go to big rush dog and team eos. I'll post a link for you as soon as I upload it to my drop box. Please visit the team eos thread in the spring gnex forums and thank big rush dog.
Edit: here's your link. Just flash it in recovery, and it will install the app.

I have the same problem as well...Nuthin wrong with the phone at all...When I reboot I just cancel out and let it reboot...I can update the PRL tho just not Profile...I read that not being to update profile would have an effect on LTE...But we just got LTE where Im at and Im smokin in the mid to high 20's Mbps...so I can see that not updating the Profile had no effect at all...Im doin the new JB Domination Rom 10.2 today...And Im gonna Reodin today just for the Hell of it and do a clean Wipe for the new Rom and see what happens... Ill try to update Profile while at stock before Root and see what happens...But the way Ive been runnin now it dosen't phase me at all...So if it goes back to the way it was...Its really no problem...And like somebody said it could be on Sprints end as well...But theres no way I would return the Phone to the store...

It was sprint. I was able to update PRL this morning. I had restored my TWRP backup after using odin so my rom/data was not the culprit.

Just installed CM10.0 on my phone. I used the sprint version, but have a problem.. I do not have any service data or mobile.. is there a way to update your profile like you do with the normal rom that came on the phone, so I can get my service.. Thanks

You cant update profile on an AOSP (android open source project) rom. Try flashing the CM10 rom again, but this time wipe everything a couple more times before you do that

As was stated, to update profile/prl, when on an AOSP rom, you have to flash back to a TW rom, perform the action, and then flash to your preferred AOSP rom. If you're using a slightly older AOSP rom, you may want to search for the Sprint data handoff link and download it, save it as you would other root files, and flash it after flashing your preferred rom and kernal. I've found the data handoff fix to be very helpful, especially since I'm in a fully lit LTE area.
Good luck.
Hey I'm trying to sell my S3 and after a factory reset and wiping everything in TWRP my name, email address and phone number is still under About device/Status. How do you remove this info? I really don't feel comfortable selling it to a stranger with all that info remaining is there a better wiping method? I'm not finding this anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Is it a hassle to obtain your msl? When I had an HTC evo lte it was as simple as running an app with root permissions.

You are correct about the downgrade to get the MSL. There is a root app but it stopped working a while ago. I know that under the ##rtn# screen there is an option to Reset the activation data but I am not positive that will clear the phone number.

I've done this before to sell my Sprint S3 and can confirm that the dialer method does not work when rooted. In oder to do what you're requesting you'll need to transfer your account to another device. After doing this, the best way to clear out your info on the S3 and sell it is to
1) download the app "Get My MSL". It will most likely give you an error when tapping the "Get My MSL" option in the app at first.
2) open dialer and enter ##DATA#
3) When prompted to enter MSL code just choose any single digit number and enter it 6 times
4) once the popup message appears go immediately back into the "Get My MSL" app and select the option again and it will give you your MSL code. Make sure to save the code somewhere safe.
5) Now that you have your code, ODIN your phone back to complete 100% stock with the LJ7 stock tar file.
6) Once done, skip through the setup wizard upon first boot up and go straight into your dialer and enter ##786#
7) select "Reset" then enter MSL and hit "OK" .
8) select "OK" again on the "Reset to manufacture defaught" popup. It will reboot your phone.
9) Let it do it's thing in stock recovery and once booted up cancel the hands free activation and everything should be cleared out in "About Phone" in settings.

The build number for the firmware (aka modem/radio) is separate from the build number of the rom itself. Go into the dev section and search for a the LJ7 modem and flash that

Follow the procedure above actually to the dot. Why? because If you try doing this while being rooted I GAURANTEE you will have problems and will wind up coming back here asking for help again but this time with another issue. To save you the trouble I highly recommend following the steps above. ODIN back to complete 100% stock LJ7. I've heard of some people not having much success trying this on MB1 but I haven't tried it myself as I am no longer with Sprint but I still support the forums. The last I have tried it on was on LJ7 and I along with many others have had success on that build so LJ7 would be your best bet. Modem and build are separate but flashing a tar file through ODIN will update everything, including the modem back to LJ7. If you wanna sell the phone rooted on the latest firmware then again follow the steps and after you've gotten through the last step, make sure to be connected to wifi so you may receive the MB1 update and then FINALLY root it. It may sound like a lot to do but it's really not.. so long as you know exactly what you're doing. Following this procedure is not only your safest way in selling a phone but it's also the BEST way to fully clear your ESN! (even after deactivation) Like I said I did this and my buyer was 100% satisfied.
Good luck!

not difficult at all. You can unroot back to any of the stock firmwares that have been released on the Sprint S3. The problem is that many of the links here are broken and I'm trying to prevent you from unrooting all the way back to an ICS stock firmware requiring you to accept 1 too many OTAs. So Like I said I recommend LJ7 but I just realized I actually did wind up deleting the LJ7 file on my pc when I switched to T-Mobile. My apologies but I did manage to find one of my subscribed threads that will return you back to stock MB1 without a pc. They are flashable zips, just like flashing any ROM, and the op says the MB1 issues have been fixed. Again, I wasn't able to test this out but it's intended to do the same work as ODIN so it's worth a shot and a much easier approach. Report back with your results and good luck!

First of all, in this case don't worry about flashing any modems. Also, ##DATA# is what you'll need in the beginning to obtain your MSL. ##RTN# or ##786# is what you'll be entering at the end to return to manufacture default. To keep it simple for you, just follow the same step by step procedure I posted in the previous page BUT once you get to step 5, replace that with the MB1 post above and once done proceed to step 6 and so on. As long as you follow my instructions correctly you should have no issues.

Not to insult your intelligence, just trying to help, but is your 3g/4g toggled to on in your settings and or pulldown? And try flashing stock jellybean Rom and modem and update your prl and profile(unless you've done that already)

Probably need to check your QPST settings again bro, I'm on CM10.1 like you and my 3g works fine AFTER flashing alt-carrier data fix.

I haven't messed with Metro since last year when I set up my wife with my a Sprint S2 on Caulkins ROM. I recall having to mess with setting manual APN settings to get data to work.
Is that still the case with these newer roms?

Not really, APN settings these days are usually in regards to getting MMS to work. I do recall losing my Metro flash while flashing ROM's around on my Droid 2 back in the day. Not sure if there's any situation in which the Metro flash could possibly be wiped with the Epic 4g Touch but that might be a thought to keep in mind. Good luck!
