Google Voice Questions - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I jumped on the Google Voice yesterday and ported my sprint number over there. So I have some questions and I am hoping someone here can help.
- All of my incoming texts are going to the Google voice inbox. I would prefer to keep them separate in my messaging app.
- When I do get a voice mail I not only get the notification in my Voice app, but I get a text and gmail telling me I have a voice mail. I only want one in the voice app.
Thanks!

Visual voicemail + Custom rom

Hey guys - this might be a noob question but I have been searching around and have found nothing as of yet. Are there any mods that incorporate visual voicemail? I am running cyanogen RC1 and it really annoys me that I cannot access this feature. Thanks again!
You can install the vvm.apk. Do a search for that and it'll come up all over the HTC EVO section.
Edit: here's a direct link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7246771&postcount=35
You could also try Google Voice, which gives a visual voicemail.
Google Voice does a lot of other cool things too: gives you a new number you can pick, calls all your phones (home, work, cell) when someone calls your Voice number, emails/texts voicemail transcripts.
or of you don't want all that other google voice crap you could use youmail.com for free with the free youmail app in the market!!
You can customize greeting for each friend and even sync it to facebook etc.
OR you could just be old fashion and hold down the 1 key in the dialer and it will take you to VM and you could visualize the person who left you a message.
You're running Android , the answer is def.ly Google voice, you got so much options...

Evo Voicemail setup

Ok before says that there is a thread out there I searched and searched for the answer or something related to my problem.
Quick Reference:
1) Upgraded to KingsRom (latest version)
2) Setup Google Voice mail
3) Not receiving voice mail alerts
4) Want to set the Sprint Visual Voice mail app back up
I had CM7 and I updated to the Kingsrom ( Gingerbread Rom), I had Google Voice as the voice mail in CM7 but had the same problem. Now if someone was to call me I wouldn't get the call but they would be sent to my voice mail. When I log into my Gmail I see the notification that someone left me a VMail, but I don't see it on my phone. So now I want to switch it back to the Visual Voice Mail system and leave as that. I went into the setting for Google Voice and switched it back to my phone but it is still not sending callers to the voicemail. It still goes to the Googlevoice inbox.
Somone please help me figure this out cause I have important calls that I need to respond if they leave a voicemail.
P.S. Also I notice that people call but it doesn't show up as a call, if they leave a message it will show up in the Goggle Voice Inbox.

Google Voice Question

Currently I have a google voice number and a regular Sprint number, I know when you create your google voice number you can do the integration where Google will use your current Sprint number, which sounds cool in theory, but I heard a lot of issues with doing this, the main one, not getting MMS anymore, and some missed VMs etc...
My question is, when I install the Google Voice app on the phone there is some option asking about integration, from the sounds of it, it seems like this is different than Google taking over your current number. Ideally what I want is to still have two different numbers, but I would like my Sprint number -and- my Google Voice number to both use the Google Voice Voicemail service. This is to work around some AOKP / AOSP issues with Sprint Visual Voicemail app that I've had.
So is this possible? Is this what that install option on the phone does? Once I do the integration can you unlink it?
I'm not sure about the setup you desire, but I think for Google Voice to handle voicemail for your Sprint number, you are going to need to do the integration.
I integrated shortly after the option became available. Google Voice itself will not handle MMS messages, but you will still receive them on the phone -- just not in the GV app. That works fine for me. I haven't had any issues with missing voicemails or otherwise.
Once you do the integration, you have a period of time to decide whether to keep it or not. After that time expires, your old Google Voice number is removed. I think that's 90 days.

Yes it is and this is my setup. Install the app and when you are setting it up it will ask you if you want to integrate, you will press next if so. If not and just want the regular google voice setup just press skip. Do this, press skip. Then link your google account, setup which calls you want google voice to handle and then finish..you're done.
Thanks ... I set it up and deleted the Sprint VVM app, don't have a way to test it though, tried calling my phone with google voice, but the phone doesn't ring, I'm guessing that's because I'm trying to call the phone GV is set to forward too... Oh well, looks like I'll just wait till someone calls

You should be able to call your cell # from your gv # even if the cell is set up as the forward # for GV...I do it all the time...
Just did it from the gmail dialer...

Yea tried that, for some reason the phone never rings when I call myself via chrome Google voice on the PC, txts do go through however, odd
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-3
You actually want to SKIP integration.
I have mine setup so that you can call my google voice # or Sprint # and both ring on my phone.
If you integrate (during the app setup) you turn your Sprint number into your GV #.
To fix this you need to login to google voice and there is a setting to (basically un-link) the GV # from your sprint #.
Uninstall and reinstall the app on the phone, this time skip integration.
Hope this helps.
if you want to keep google voice number and your sprint number separate than when you set up the google voice app skip the first option and voice mail integration and just get the text and call forwarded to your phone via gV..I like to keep them separate to keep business from personal

That's exactly what I use it for too.... Think I got it all setup, still can't call my sprint number from my google voice number in a browser however, don't know what's up with that, but think everything else is working.

Visual Voicemail?

The note 2 is my first android phone, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I cannot find a my voicemail. I have to call my voicemail to get my messages, and I do not receive any notifications when I do have a voicemail. I do not have a icon for the voicemail either. Thank you for the input

I use google voice for voicemail... allows me to see/retreive vmail from any internet device, not just phone, and also to use same vmail for multiple phones. Alternatively, your carrier may offer visual voicemail (for a fee)

press and hold 1 for voice mail. Or when you go to the dialer, you'll see a recorder looking icon below the star key. That's voicemail. But I agree, you should get google voice. www.google.com/voice
Google Voice user here as well and love it.
I can't an alternative to Google voice so I use it.

CM9 and Voice Mail

I finally realized that there is no voice mail notification when using CM9 (Aeroevan's version). What seems a good quick option for notifications for voicemail? I searched Google Play and really didn't find much.
I figured out I wasn't getting notified when my boss asked me why I quit answering my voice mail....LOL!

Use google voice for voicemail. You don't have to route any calls through it.
